Hedonist #2

King's Mate

Sebastian
I’ve lost track of time. I don’t know how many days it’s been, if it’s evening or morning. I’ve drifted in and out of consciousness, and the most insane dreams muddled my mind. Something’s changed. Not just my body—because I simply know I’ll have his child—but my soul has changed, too. Jonah’s child. Why can’t I think of my son as only mine? Why can’t I even touch my stomach without my mind drifting to Jonah?
.

“Have you always been this insatiable, my sorcerer? Or is it only my cock you crave?”
“I’ve never wanted any man as much as I want you.”

Great continuation of King Sebastian and horse whisperer Jonah’s love story.
It’s pretty much identical to the first book — heavy erotica, lots of cum and slick, orgies happening left and right. The major difference is the mpreg, implied in the first installment, but very present and explicit in King’s Mate.

I enjoyed seeing them reach their happily ever after, but . That was just a tad too much for me.

“I love you, my king.” “I’m not your king,” he forces out. “You never have to kneel for me.”

CW and tropes (spoilers):
- Omegaverse
- Mpreg
- Heat sex
- Breeding
- Sharing
- Spanking
- Alpha on alpha action
- Fisting
- Nipple play and milking

Roe has given us lots of sex with meaning and feels in so many of his books before.
For me, he has shown that sex can be part of a personal development and have its own importance in finding yourself.

However, this two-parter does not fall into that category.
With a plot so tentative you need a magnifying glass to see it, and one orgy after the other under the motto ‘the more the merrier’ we get about 95% erotica here. Somehow, I did not appreciate Sebastian and Jonah ‘branching out', even if it is done in a ‘loving way’.
I also felt that once or twice (one dream sequence in particular) Roe goes too far, hitting extreme porn themes, and that with so much sex going on, it did get repetitive, resulting in me skimming quite a few pages of this book.

So, if you like ABO and mpreg (there is a lot of it) and are in the mood for an indulgence, this might just be the right thing, but don’t expect more than that.

As a fan of Roe’s writing for many years, I would love to see him leaving the ABO universe and dedicating himself to other topics again. His A Love Song for the Sad Man in the White Coat will be one of my most favourite books ever, so it hurts to give this such a low rating.

I would have much rather read a story about the fairytale that Jonah tells the king one evening about the prince and the dragon, than this story. Like the first in this series, it features a medieval world without women, mpreg, lots of shared fluids and partners. It wasn't horrible, but it lacked that trademark Horvat heartmelting charm.

At one point Sebastian shares a huge group of omegas with Jonah and it was a very unromantic scene.
After that, their touches get bolder, and I don’t know if it’s torture or heaven to feel the hands and lips of five boys at a time while others hover close, licking and fingering each other while they wait for their turn.
I understand the omegas are smaller than the alphas, but calling them "boys" telling us how tiny their cocks were felt really gross.

The underlying story of the love (and power dynamics) between a king and his horse trainer was beautiful, just wished it hadn't strayed so far away from that story.

Jonah relents and leans back on his elbows, spreading his legs. His big cock rears like some kind of monstrous weapon from the underworld, dark red, with a glistening, fat head, and throbbing veins encircling the thick girth. The king of all cocks, and it's mine.

all tea all shade but this book is sooooo fucking unnecessary. i love roe horvat's storytelling with all my heart but i guess it is the time to crucify me because i didn't liked this. i mean it was entertaining at the right minimum level but still a no. loved jonah and sebastian and their connection to these amazing people in the palace but they clearly didn't deserve the duology treatment. i'm hoping roe is done with his books-getting-unnecessary duology era. i don't like it. i'm not here for it. at chapter 15, my mind was like begging for things to get wrapped up already. with eroticas, i wanna eat it but i don't want to choke on it in displeasure. overall, the sex is still hot and unparalleled but the almost nonexistent story killed my vibe.

Book #2 Hot and satisfying, Sebastian gets his dream come true...
King Sebastian and Jonah continue their passion. It's hot, raw, wild, uninhibited, powerful, explicit and intensely emotional.
Omega King Sebastian has been thrilled with his choice of Alpha.

Alpha Jonah is happy to have been chosen and wishes to stay.

The omegaverse is unique with the Omega King, but is not without issues from the council.

It's smoothly written, different, and has sensory abandon, deep thoughts, vivid characters and gripping sexual marathons of sex acts, knotting and pleasures beyond your dreams.

It may make you breathless ! The epilogue is joyous !
Well done.
ENJOY !

A true and perfect romance.

King's Mate is the second book in Roe Horvat's Hedonist series. You'll need to read King's Heat first.

The bond between Sebastian and Jonah grows as the couple's connection deepens. The purity of their love, the honesty of their connection, the relationships they have with the members of Sebastian's court... Roe Horvat pours every ounce into building the ideal love affair within the pages of the Hedonist series.

This is a beautifully built Omegaverse. Interesting, well thought out rules govern this society, and when situations arise which challenge the status quo, the solutions flow flawlessly into the storyline.

Wonderfully angst free, I highly recommend this exquisitely romantic escape.

I can’t get enough of this author’s omegaverse erotic stories.

This one was very intimate, it doesn’t matter if it’s just the two of them, or when others are watching or joining them, every encounter with Sebastian and Jonah is breathtakingly arousing.

No stress, no angst, just long sessions of sexiness, rough, hard, soft, slow, every move and touch is explicitly described. None repetitive, not once. It’s super romantic, deeply loving, affectionate, and extremely delicious. And their ultimate wish will be fulfilled.

This is the second and final book in the Hedonist series. I think the author’s warning at the start says a lot:
“Hedonist is a paranormal erotic romance, inspired by MM omegaverse. The story contains explicit, detailed erotic scenes, and depicts various kinks and fetishes: heat sex, knotting, breeding, male pregnancy, spanking, rough sex, cum play, nipple play, male lactation, lactation kink, double penetration, fisting, alpha-alpha and omega-omega pairings, orgies, sharing, virgin kink, pregnancy sex, sexualized birth. The relationships depicted in the books are loving but not physically exclusive.”

Wooohoooooo! This is classic Roe Horvat erotic writing, and it has pretty much everything you could want in kinky sex. And there’s A LOT. Soooooo much sex. ALL THE SEX. But King Sebastian and horse-whisperer Jonah also fall in love. And it’s wonderful. So while it’s more on the side of smut, I’d still say it’s erotica because Roe has this incredible skill at making it into a loving relationship.

This book is Roe Horvat doing what he does best. Noone writes erotica with a plot in a more beautiful way than he does. This book is the second on his Hedonist series and has the previously published free versions plus some additions. It's scorching hot and has some twists that shouldn't work, but it does. Everything is done with consent and there are no other rules than that. Advice: Read the book alone, or do it among others for a practice of your poker face.

Hedonist: Kings Mate

Hedonist: Kings Heat is the previous book in this “Duet”. Sebastian is King and is surrounded by Alphas and Omegas, guards in his Army. This is a “fantasy” world where Alphas and Omegas mate and pregnancy follows the mating. Sebastian’s favourite guards also couple with him and swap between others.

Jonah is the Chief Horseman at the Palace, he’s a huge giant of a Man
Sometimes he referred to as the Horse Whisperer. He catches Sebastian’s as he walked through the woods while Jonah is servicing a younger stable hand against a tall oak tree. The result of this meeting is covered in “Kings Heat”. Which should be read first.

“Kings Mate” tells continues the story of Sebastian and Jonah, plus several side characters who also figure large in their lives within the Palace.

Both these books are by Roe Horvat, a prolific writer. Whatever the genre, Fantasy, Omegaverse, I’ve never read anything like them before. Every page is steaming. There is no angst or triggers that came to mind but the steamy scenarios might be overwhelming if you don’t like them on every page.

The conclusion of the Hedonist duology. I can understand why Horvat published this as a pair of books in order to monetize it, but I think this story only works in its original, serialized format. There just isn’t any real tension in the story and the sex scenes become very same-y after a while because Horvat tends to stick to a few tropes/kinks. I was hoping for more of his trademark emotional horniness, but this book is mostly just horniness without the emotion. I did like all of the open relationships and poly relationships in the book – Horvat writes them in such an accepting way.

I’d only recommend this for those who are big fans of Horvat’s omegaverse erotica, and even then, I recommend trying to read it in pieces rather than all at once.

You will never convince me hat anyone can write omegaverse better than Roe Horvat. He is just so damn talented in this genre. I had already read the original version of this as freebies on Prolificworks, but I enjoyed it even more the second time through, all compiled together. Seeing Jonah and Sebastian get their HEA was completely satisfying and out of this world hot. I can see myself rereading this duet many, many times in the future.

Sebastian gets his dream

Hedonist is a very apt name for this series.
Sebastian is a perfect character in all his hedonistic glory. Jonah is his perfect partner.

This was super HOT. This Omegaverse is unique and I loved the dynamics.

I need more! Maybe a 10 year down the road book would be nice. 🤔🤔

he·don·ist:
a person who believes that the pursuit of pleasure is the most important thing in life; a pleasure-seeker.

So… this series is called Hedonist. Not sure what some readers expected when they went into it. 🤣

I have been reading erotica for almost two decades and no one does erotica and omegaverse like Roe. No one can combine high, filthy steam, with romance and love and plot, like Roe can. No one can do heat sex like Roe. I hope he always writes omegaverse because I will read it forever over and over. This one is really special though. I love the dynamics between all of the players. I love how he manages to have so much sex in one book yet manages to make every scene unique in some way. It’s just… so so good.

Fabulous 🖤

All Jonah wants is Sebastian body and soul, he isn't interested in royal affairs or riches. As they reach to the conclusion that they don't need to meet everyone's expectations of what their relationship should entail, they move forward with their love and their plans for a future filled with love and passion. Jonah reads Sebastian's soul and his deepest urges with the loving heart of a true mate, and the trust and devotion between them is beautiful.🖤

I loved this beautiful erotic fantasy and the way pregnancy was described in the context of the OMEGAVERSE was deeply loving and sensual.🖤
The cast of characters was superb. I want this to totally become a series, as I am dying to know more about Ky, Orin and Thomas - I am soooo curious how that relationship went down.🖤
I recommend these two books be read back to back.🖤

This is the conclusion to the duet of Sebastian and Jonah. Although this book is just as erotic and steamy as the first, there are some absolutely beautiful scenes of submission and love. I adored how this one dived a bit more into that power exchange between two people, and how it’s not always about the power & control. One is not ‘owned’ by another in the sense they take everything away from you. One is owned by trust, respect, love, and absolute adoration. Faith that person has you no matter what. And when that ownership, when that submission is given freely, that’s when it’s most divine.

Watching Sebastian learn what it means to be collared by an Alpha, and know it doesn’t take away his ability to rule as an Omega King, and it doesn’t take away from his freedom - it’s beautiful. It’s also amazing to watch Jonah realize the same in his own way. That Sebastian can be Jonah’s, but still also thrive in the pleasure he craves every day.

“I’m not jealous anymore, Sebastian. I have no reason to be.”
No, he has no reason. Nobody will ever compare to him in my mind.
“I want to see you,” he whispers. “When they worship your body, losing their minds from your scent and beauty, I want to see it. Take all the pleasure you can, bathe in it, and then look at me when you come. That way I’ll know I’m on your mind.”

I fucking loved that moment. This moment that Sebastian realized he could have it all, and his mate would stay by his side. This moment that Jonah admitted he could still possess Sebastian, but also let him be taken by others because he knows at the end of the day Sebastian is always thinking about his mate. At the end of the day, Jonah is the only one that can breed him, fuck him into oblivion, and call him by his name. He’s the one who he shares his bed with day after day, he’s the one that will father his child, he’s the one he thinks about and longs for.
Those other men? Nothing but pleasure. Pleasure craved endlessly. Given freely. And by golly, it’s given tenfold.

It’s amazing watching these men touch and care for each other so freely. Alphas fucking alphas, omegas fucking omegas, alphas and omegas, double penetration, orgies, fisting, spanking, and so on and so on. The pleasure is phenomenal. They all jump right into it.
I can honestly say, I have absolutely no qualms with these two MCs sharing their bodies with so many. They do it side by side, and they truly find nothing but happiness and pleasure from it. Truly hedonistic.

This book just came out today, and the fact I had to read it right away, says so much for me.

The story about Jonah and Sebastian continues, and I can’t get enough of them!

No surprise that there’s lots of sizzling, dirty sex in this book, but I really feel that the emotions was more in focus as well.

Love the bits with Ky, I love him to pieces!

Beautiful descriptions that easily makes me picture the castle, the surroundings and the characters.

I really hope Roe writes some bonus shorts with these two in it, and Ky!!! 😍

I read this book almost in one sitting because the story is so engrossing. There are two parts, “The King’s Heat” , which is the beginning of the relationship between Sebastian(the King) and Jonah(the Horse Whisperer over the King’s stables). And now “The King’s Mate” which is the culmination of their beautiful love story. I highly recommend both books and they need to be read in order so as not to miss even one moment of Roe Horvat’s wonderful writing.

AMAZING as always!! I started reading this series as it was released on Prolific Works and am so happy it was released as a 2 part book series. This book was smoking hot and I loved the dynamic between the 2 characters. This will be a definite reread in the future for me.

I didn't even read the first book but I fairly enjoyed the King's Mate .

There was honestly so much sex....too much sex in this. It made my eyes roll sometimes how each scene just led into sex. But it was all really fun to read about and the dynamics were very interesting. I normally hate books/sex scenes invoving sharing, menage and the like but I feel it was done really well here. Both partners got off on sharing each other but knew deep down who held their heart and more importantly, it was obvious to me as a reader that the sex with other partners did not impact their love for each other so it helped tamper my normal dislike for these types of scenes.

Despite not reading the first book, I actually didn't feel like I missed a lot. Honestly, I didn't come in for the plot anyway so I doubt that would've mattered.

Overall, Sebastian and Jonah were a really sweet and lovely couple to watch and the sex scenes were hot AF.

I never thought I’d said this……. But it has way too much smut. 🫣

Sex scene after sex scene over and over again. By the 3rd consecutive sex scene, I skipped them all 😌 and focused sorely on the cobbled together barely there plot. After a while, all the sex scenes felt the same and the spark was lost very quickly.

This is book two and the continuation from Hedonist: King’s Heat, and the consistency from book one to book two is absolute perfection! Roe continues Sebastian and Jonah’s story flawlessly.

This book is erotica in its purest form; this story is about Sebastian and Jonah and what happens after the king’s heat. Sebastian somewhat flounders as he works through the idea of potentially having a mate after he never wanted one before. Jonah stands by Sebastian’s side as he figures it out, and never once makes his king doubt his love for him. Their dynamic was so interesting to me—the king and the stable hand, but Jonah is no ordinary stable hand. One of my favorite scenes in this book is when Jonah stands in front of Sebastian’s counsel and absolutely hands them their asses!

This book is SPICY—sex between alphas and omegas, omegas and omegas; it was such a different take on typical omegaverse that I found myself binging this book in a day! I couldn’t put it down. I loved where Roe took the story between these two, and the side characters?! TOP TIER! I loved every second of Sebastian and Jonah’s happily ever after!

Hot as fire!

Like I said about book one of this duet, this story is not for you if you can’t handle sex, sex and more sex. Roe Horvat writes amazing stories, some don’t have much heat and others, like this one, are absolutely sizzling. He has described the books as romantic erotica because “everything in the story revolves around sex.” Boy, did he get that right.

I read and enjoy books with heat levels from sweet to scorching (some might say smut) and this book is some of the finest erotica I’ve read. The blurb really tells you everything you need to know. I want to warn you that you might need to keep a fan and/or something cold to drink nearby while you’re reading this one.

This is the conclusion to Sebastian’s and Jonah’s story. It’s at least as hot as the first story but I also liked how it delved more into relationships – not just Sebastian’s and Jonah’s but also a “forbidden” relationship between two of Sebastian’s alpha guards and a few other pairings. It also lightly goes into politics of the kingdom and I loved how Jonah handled the questions asked by Sebastian’s advisors.

This duet pushed a lot of what might be boundaries for some readers, and I’ll admit that I wouldn’t want to read this heat level every day, but I loved the writing and the relationships between the characters. I will continue to read whatever Roe Horvat writes!

Note: the first book in this duet is now available in audio performed by the fantastic John Solo and King’s Mate should be coming to audio soon.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Not a standalone, so definitely read book 1 before reading this. Even though both books are pure smut, there's still some context and plot from the first book that would help make better sense of things in the second book.

The book starts off immediately where book 1 left off, so you're dropped right into the heat sex, which is panties-melting hot. Definitely need to read this under a cold shower because the scenes being described is so hot and beautifully descriptive, it leaves you panting. Also make sure not to read in public unless you don't mind others knowing what you're reading lol

I love all the kinks described in the book. It just hits all my buttons and made me discover some that I never knew I liked. The background story arc of the "prince and pauper" trope was done really well and you could really feel the chemistry between Jonah and Sebastian.

Did not want this book to end. Loved it so much! Roe wove a really beautiful and different historical omegaverse storyline with these two books and I hope to read more in this type of setting in the future.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.

Wow. The reader knows going into this what they'll get, somewhat; steamy, imaginative, fantasy fiction. What the reader actually gets; All of that, and SO much more, wrapped and woven around and into a love story beautifully told. Exploring fantasies in a romantic style. The laguage, emotion, artistry comes through in this book almost more than the k1nky stuff does (though there is plenty of that to go around). Absolutely breathtaking. You want character growth, likable characters, interesting characters, unique setting and storyline - you got it, and all the hot goodness that goes with it. DO HEED WARNINGS, this is not for everyone, but it definitely owrks for me, and I was blown away by the truly good love story woven in among the indulgence. Excellently done.

I hesitated to read this series after reading most of Roe's other work because it sounded so different. It took a deleted scene to draw me in. I should NOT have hesitated. Only Roe can make pure smut make your heart feel so full. I am sooo in love with Jonah and Sebastian.

If you love HEA's (oh yes we do), this book is full of them, not just for Jonah and Sebastian, but for so many people intertwined in their lives.

In the end, bravo Roe 👏 READ THIS BOOK!

Be aware this story is a continuation of a series but it can be read on its own. Also, it is gay erotica and should be savoured, not gulped. It is not pornography and if you are offended by this type of work, do not read it.
Roe Horvat is an automatic read for me and I love his lyrical style of writing in his erotic stories. It’s like reading one of those long poems that takes days where you read a little and then go back to read that piece again; sort of like a John Donne poem in its sensuality.
Sebastian and Jonah are a bold enough love story as to be seen on the big screen in our minds, full of color and with the full orchestra behind them. So why did I give it a four when I have given most of this collection of books a five? I love a good sensual book; I love good erotica (and there is a distinction between mediocre and good) and I want to be transported into the story. I want to care about their love and feel they are truly enjoying each other-not thinking about the office. I want sensuality, textures and to feel aroused with them. I want to give a deep sigh when I put the book down and re-enter the real world. I want it to be an experience and Mx. Horvat’s erotica books have a strong tendency to be that way. I have all the previous Hedonist series and I have enjoyed them thoroughly. I will read them many times.
This one I was not as bowled over by but that is due to my own interests, or here, lack thereof. This is a lovely story with beautiful writing but I am not into pregnancy or monogamy, not in this story. This last book seems too much like the white picket type of ending for me. Also, I found it repetitive in the description of their love making. As if it should have been a short story rather than a long one. The epilogue did not add to the story in my opinion and could have just as easily been part of the main story itself instead.
I so look forward to their work. This one was just a bit of a disappointment for me.

I was provided an ARC of this book and this is my opinion alone.

I truly loved this whole series! I Binge read them all back to back in an embarrassingly short time frame lol.

This book picks up right where book 1 left off. The romance between Jonah and Sebastian really picks up here. The time they spend together during the kings heat just solidifies their bond. Their relationship is great! Even the partner sharing just enhances and shows off how much they love and care for one another. It's kinda beautiful and yes SUPER smutty. If you read book 1 then you won't be surprised by anything here. There's a super tiny bit of tension about the king taking a peasant as a mate but other then that there's no real drama or angst just happiness and rainbows which was nice.

One thing that really makes this series awesome are the side characters. I actually really cared about them. Which is a good thing considering the next two books are a collection or novellas about the side characters from these two books. I absolutely loved this series! If you're in the mood for some smutty omegaverse then give these a try!
