Social Democrats to announce party's NATO stance on Sunday
The ruling Social Democrat party said it would announce on May 15 its position on whether it believes the country should apply for NATO membership.
At a media briefing Monday morning, party chair Tobias Baudin said the party has decided to move up its decision, stating that it was advantageous to keep pace with Finland's decision-making process and not wait until a week later.
The Social Democrat party has historically opposed NATO membership and if it does decide in favour of joining, then there would be a clear majority for it in Swedish parliament.
