The Player and the Single Mom by Erin McCarty, book five in The Legends series, a fun, sweet tale between a widowed mother, a younger successful professional football player, and the consequences of romantic week away from it all. Sera is a stressed out widowed mom, juggling three kids in a cramped house while struggling to run her bakery after being left with an unexpected financial situation, with no way out. Cash is friends with her sister's guy, owns a ranch and let's her kids come out and ride occasionally. There is a strong attraction between Cash and Sera, but he's a football player and younger than her; an issue she is uncomfortable with. When they decide to try the friends with benefits and take a secret vacation to Mexico where they spend a sizzling week at a luxury resort and realize the life-changing consequences soon after. After her husband’s death, Sera found out that she might not have known him as well as she thought; causing her to not trust so easily. Cash is thrilled to become a dad but she worries he’s just doing the right thing and doesn’t really want to be with her and her inst-family. Cash wants Sera forever, not just a night, not co-parenting, always, but he’s afraid if he tells her she freak out and not let him be a part of her life. I loved following Sera and Cash’s entertaining and sweet journey toward finding a future together. Erin McCarthy delivered a great story with The Player and the Single Mom, full of humor and heart that I highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

4.6 stars This is the fifth book in The Legends series and it is a witty, fun loving age gap storyline that gives readers Cash and Sera. Cash is a twenty something football player who has had his eye on Sera. Sera is a widowed woman in her mid thirties with three children. As they wind up together at a New Year’s Eve party, the two have a chance to express their mutual wants which leads to a planned excursion to México for a no strings week of sand, sun, fun and plenty of s*x. Cash is the epitome of a southern gentleman who knows how to treat a woman. He is always there for Sera giving her the support she needs and knows the importance of family. Sera is a strong woman who does everything she can to keep things afloat. She does not have a lot of free time and needs Cash to help her find that important life/work balance. From the beginning, Cash and Sera have undeniable chemistry that burns up the pages. The author’s writing style is effervescent and flows beautifully. This is one storyline filled with drama, humor, passion and you will not be able to put it down. I cannot wait to see what is coming next. I recommend this book.

Absolutely loved this story! I love a good reverse age gap storyline. The two main characters do you in with their personalities. I enjoyed how Sera overcame Her insecurities and obstacles. I love Cash’s personality from the start. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.
