No one will bat an eye over this. Only if Mohammad Jafar Mahallati had declared that jihad violence was justified in core texts and teachings of Islam would he be in any serious hot water. And just imagine if any professor had boasted of his opportunity to introduced Christian teachings, or Hindu teachings, or the teachings of any other religion, to students. He would be fired in a hot minute.
“Exclusive: Oberlin’s Iranian Prof Boasted of His Utility to Tehran,” by Susannah Johnston, Focus on Western Islamism, June 16, 2022 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
When students return to Oberlin College in Ohio in early September, some of them will be taking classes from religion professor Mohammad Jafar Mahallati, who has been accused of helping to cover up a mass-murder while serving as a diplomat for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the late 1980s.
Oberlin administrators have accepted Mahallati’s denials, but they now have more to consider than his guilt or innocence in the alleged coverup. In light of his ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran, they have good reason to question his real agenda at Oberlin. Is he using his position at the school to promote peace and friendship and an honest understanding of Islam, or is he a shill for the Iranian regime?
One piece of evidence Oberlin administrators will have to consider in their assessment of Mahallati’s career is a letter he sent to the Iranian parliament in 2018 defending himself against charges of disloyalty leveled at him by hardliners in the Iranian regime. In a letter obtained by FWI, Mahallati emphasized his loyalty and utility to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Writing in Persian to the Iranian parliament, Mahallati told a very different story from the one he tells in English to the Oberlin community, portraying himself as a peacemaker.
Mahallati penned the letter in response to the Iranian parliament listing him as a dual national who posed a national security threat. To lend credence to this accusation, his critics reported that he had been arrested by the regime in the late 1980’s upon his return after his term as a diplomat at the United Nations had ended.
Mahallati began his letter by noting the importance of his “opportunity to introduce Islamic teachings, especially Qur’anic research, to about a hundred American students each year.” He also declared that the accusations against him “are pure lies, and in my professional life I have never been a dual national government director, nor [have I] taken money from the US government for any political or non-political matter…”

Functioning in a collegiate academic world for decades, I was only too aware long past that Oberlin was loon material even by the “standards” of higher education.
So, this comes as no surprise. None whatsoever.
I would add here that any parent who sends his child to Oberlin is engaging in a kind of child abuse. No, I mean this.

Sadly true

why is that creature allowed to teach at american College?
Kick him out and teach how terrible islam it. Like nazism. It is not a religion and therefore it should not be under teaching of religion

Muslim Countries have been pouring MONEY into the endowment funds of our higher education system for 30 yrs. In return we have allowed Muslim student unions, allow muslim professors and now teach muslim studies at most of our higher education institutions. Also Muslim students are a cash cow for these schools as most if not all of their school cost are paid by their government.

Wellington says,
“…any parent who sends his child to Oberlin is engaging in a kind of child abuse.”
I agree.
And, as you know, this is especially true of most of the so-called “elite” colleges / universities. Parents are spending megabucks to have their children indoctrinated into communism.
All colleges / universities should be graded in regards to their degree of leftism / wokeism, etc., so that parents / their children / potential donors, etc., can make an informed decision –

Considering that Muslims equate peace with submission, when he said he is a peacemaker he meant his intent is to make people submit to Islam. Submission = peace, you see. So in his own mind he was being honest. You just have to speak his language. Too many people are still speaking the old English of about 30 years ago and have failed to learn the new English now being taught to our youth – but we will eventually die out and it will be a brave new world (where brave means queer .. or maybe proud, I’m not exactly sure).

I wonder if any of his students came across those quotes in the stinking Koran which call for Muslims to go out and murder non-believers and asked this maggot to explain the evil, murderous content of islam. Maybe they could also have asked the maggot to explain how it is OK for the evil prophet, Muhammad, to be a pedophile and have sex with the young girl, Aisha. It would be interesting to see how this evil propagandist for Islam would try to explain away the evil nature of his religion. I’m sure he would try to paint islam in a positive light, but once people begin to see islam’s nature clearly then islam is in big trouble.

When I was in high school, I wished that I could go to Oberlin. I do not know if it was as bad then as now, but I would not want to attend it now, and I would rather send children to Hillsdale College in Michigan. As long as it stays loyal to its principles. It seems that the left has adopted Islam as its preferred religion and ideology. Perhaps because it too wants to overthrow the system and replace it with an alien, anti-American ideology. The left wants everything that would hurt America.

I guess it took a connection to mass murder for anyone to care about what Mohammad Jafar Mahallati is doing in American education. I suppose it could be even worse…
But not by much. Mahallati has also openly made antisemitic and anti-Baha’i statements–it was mostly peaceful Baha’i who were the victims of this mass murder.
There has been a letter calling for his termination, including from some of his former victims. Looks like that will now be ignored.
Wellington says
Count on it being ignored, gravenimage.
Larger problem: So-called higher education in America has now been taken over by Leftists and their temporary allies, i.e., Muzzies, all accommodated by a third tier, i.e., wishy-washy, gutless moderates and many RINO types.
This did not need to happen but it has. And getting rid of both “errors” (actually three) is a monumental problem. So much so that the best of the West still surviving this enormously ignorant onslaught is still in the “offing,” still a question, still remaining for future history to determine.

I wish I could disagree, Wellington.

Perhaps one of his Students could have him explain the parts in the quran about females, Gays, freedom of thought, let alone freedom of speech, perhaps he can be challenged in his belief system, ask him why Christianity or any other religion would not be taught in his native Iran…
In other words, it would be rather easy to bring this moron to heel.

And then he’d accuse the student of “Islamophobia”…
