SAS files for bankruptcy protection in the US
Scandinavian airline SAS filed for so-called Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States today, a decision announced less than a day after the start of a SAS pilots strike.
The move will allow the airline to go through financial restructuring while it continues to operate.
SAS CEO Anko van der Werff said the filing was not linked to the strike but that it had accelerated the airline's decision.
