Before I left, I asked to see Merrick. I needed to know why I was even in consideration after our disastrous start.

Turned out, Merrick only wanted to hire me because I was the least competent candidate. It seemed his board was making him fill the position, against his wishes.

I didn’t really want to work in a place where my boss expected me to fail. But I figured maybe I’d enjoy proving him wrong. It was a little thing I dubbed the boss project.

What I wasn’t prepared for was that there would be other things I’d enjoy doing to Merrick Crawford.

Getting involved with the boss wasn’t the smartest choice.

But you know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of. I just had no idea where this one was going to land.

Loved this book. I loved Evie but Merrick took a little longer to grow on me, and when he did, I loved him, only for him to then make me so angry. The story jumps back in time enough so the reader finds out what is going on with Merrick though.
I loved Kitty. She’s a great character. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was funny, sexy, emotional, heartbreaking, and heartwarming.

This story popped into my library at just the right time. I was in a but of a funk and nothing was appealing to me until..along came these driven, authentic and charismatic characters. The leading couple were astounding and impossible to drag myself away from. From the very beginning, I was mesmerised by the awkwardness of our sassy little lady, amused beyond believe at the shenanigans. The creative flair that the author exhibited was unique and refreshing. This story burrowed into my very soul. Captivated by the words that just kept delivering moment after delicious moment, I just couldn't get enough. Everything about this book appealed to me. Masterfully written and effortlessly executed. Bravo. 5 stars.

It ended too abruptly! It left too many unanswered questions. It wasn’t enough. What made him come back? What did the ex say? Did he drop the case? How did he get over his trust issues? Like arg… Do not start to tighten tension to just then skip over the resolution!!!

I am quite the fan of all things Vi Keeland, and once again she has written a book that is all that and a bag of chips.
From the first moment Merrick & Evie meet, I had a silly grin on my face. I decided right then and there to settle in and get myself ready for fun times. There were plenty of them to come as the chapters flew by, but the flashbacks to Merricks past brought about quite some emotional periods as well. It was something I wasn’t quite expecting but by the end of the story, to me it ended up making the book all the more incredible. The extra flashback after the epilogue was just like icing on an already delicious cake. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This book is good. Vi Keeland is a very good writer but her books are getting monotonous. All the books start with funny conversations between H and h, then they fall in love and in flashback H always had an ex who cheats and had a kid.I want the author to explore different story lines and genres as her writing skills are outstanding and can really write very good romantic comedy books.

What a roller coaster of emotions in this book.

One minute I was disliking Merrick, then I was swooning over Merrick, to back disliking Merrick and finally falling for Merrick.

Evie (Everly - Dr Vaughn) can hold her own even though her life to this point was a rocky one. However, this did not stop her or stop her to achieving her goals.

This is a slow burn with some emotional drama. Sit back and enjoy this five star office romance.

Kitty - my gosh she is one hilarious grandmother.

I was confused when I first started reading this book because the beginning, i.e. the bing cherry stains, the dressing room and the man crashing into it, we're almost identical to the same beginnings in another of the author's books which I had just finished. The scene was just as funny in this book! Evie is a Doctor in the field of Psychology and has applied for an in-house job at a broker's firm. Her surrogate grandmother's grandson owns the business and recommends Evie to him. Merrick feels the last thing he needs is an in-house counselor but hires her because she is the least qualified. This sets the tone for their start to a relationship.

Not all is roses and sunshine and this couple has a few hurdles ahead but all in all this is a very good romantic read.
