S.A.F.E. CUNY - Students and Faculty for Equality at CUNY

S.A.F.E. CUNY is an alliance of CUNY scholars and students dedicated to the support of the following principles to be upheld within both the University and the University’s union of instructional staff: Academic freedom and inclusion in both scholarly and creative activity; Free and civil discourse; Diversity of thought, discourse and debate.

S.A.F.E. CUNY laments that Outward, Observant, and Zionist Jews, as well as Zionist non-Jews have been systemically excluded from both CUNY and CUNY union participation and have suffered discriminatory treatment. S.A.F.E. CUNY commits to promoting the inclusion of Zionists and non-Zionists alike; people of all religious views and no religious views alike; and people of varying political views and affiliations in a spirit of tolerance. S.A.F.E. CUNY recognizes and welcomes individuals of every race, creed, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, partnership status, and disability within CUNY and within the Union of CUNY faculty and instructional Staff. This principle is likewise interpreted to encompass Outward, Observant and Zionist Jews as well as Zionist non-Jews, the former having been systematically excluded from CUNY and CUNY instructional staff union participation and leadership roles.
