Best Hotels to Stay at in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico

Sharing is caring!

Located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, San Cristobal de Las Casas is filled with everything from stylish, mid-range and family-run hotels to boutique hotel stays that will make you feel at home right in the middle of this historic city. You may not find many big hotel chains in this Mexican pueblo magico (magic town), but you will find lots of heart, hospitality and maybe a bit of luxury (if that’s what you’re looking for).

Lots of new accommodations have been popping up in San Cristobal recently, so this post is updated for the best hotel stays in 2022. These options over comfort, style, relative affordability, and some even come with free breakfast.

10 Best Hotels in San Cristobal de Las Casas

Whether you’re looking for a little bit of luxury, a cozy place to unwind and explore for a few days, or somewhere in between, these San Cristobal hotels can provide that for you. Here are some of the best hotels in San Cristobal de Las Casas that cater to just about any travel budget.

1. Casa Lum

Best hotel in San Cristobal for: A boutique stay in the center of the city

We absolutely love Casa Lum and we think you will, too.

The first property on the list is one of the top-rated and reviewed boutique hotels in San Cristobal de Las Casas. Complete with a restaurant and bar on site, travelers can choose from 8 different rooms that are perfect for a family stay or a couples getaway.

And the location is perfect; situated right on Guadalupe Street, just walk out the door and you’ll be steps away from some of the best coffee in town. All rooms come with WiFi, a 40-inch screen TV, and heating, which is a great added bonus because the winter months San Cristobal can get especially cold for Mexico standards (even as low as 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit).

Travelers don’t just come here for the stylish quarters.

Casa Lum’s moderately priced restaurant menu offers a unique take on Mexican and European staple dishes fused with Yucatecan specialties using local ingredients. Their Mol I’ch omelette comes with cheese from Chiapas and for their dessert menu, the cheesecake comes topped with pox flamed plantain.

Hotel prices range from $125-200 USD per night (rooms fit 2-4 people). Book a stay at Casa Lum here.

2. La Tozi Galeria Hotel

Best hotel for: Travelers looking to stay in a modern and artsy hotel in the heart of town

If you’re traveling on a budget in San Cristobal de Las Casas and still want to stay in a hotel rather than a backpackers hostel, La Tozi Galeria is a great option.

This historic property was recently remodeled into an art gallery, hotel, and restaurant and the rooms here are simple, stylish, and filled with art that will make you feel right at home. The on-site rooftop restaurant has live music on occasion and offers beautiful 360 views of downtown San Cristobal.

La Tozi Galeria is also located on Guadalupe Street, which is smack dab in the traveler’s center of town. This block of the Guadalupe walking street has the most character (in my humble opinion) so if you really want to be introduced to that San Cristobal vibe, then consider booking this hotel for your stay.

Some bookings come included with breakfast, but you can always add it on for an extra $6 USD per day.

Double rooms are currently priced between $30-60 USD for a one-night stay. Book a stay at La Tozi Galeria Hotel here.

4. Hotel Bo

Best in San Cristobal for: A pet-friendly, luxury hotel stay with intricate design.

If you’re looking for a luxury stay for your trip to Chiapas, Hotel Bo is the one for you. Travelers don’t typically visit San Cristobal de Las Casas for the luxury as it’s more for the culture, vibes, and great views, but Hotel Bo was built to capture the essence of this region through its design concept.

Grabbing inspiration from the four elements of water, earth, fire, and air, the idea was to create a flow for the guests and create that Chiapaneco aesthetic in the colorful hotel design.

This top hotel is complete with a restaurant, bar, and even a gym on site. Guests at this hotel can choose from spacious deluxe rooms or suites that have everything you may need for your stay, including complimentary toiletries and a laptop safe. All rooms either come with a private terrace or a view of the courtyard.

There’s free parking nearby for hotel guests, which is a bit of a rarity in San Cristobal. It’s also a pet-friendly hotel, but additional charges may apply so make sure to check with the hotel in advance. All in all, this is the most luxurious hotel stay in the city if you’re looking to splurge on your getaway to Chiapas.

Prices for a double room start at $200 pesos per night. Book a stay at Hotel Bo here.

5. Hotel Na Bolom

Best hotel for: Culture seekers looking to give back and immerse themselves in a unique and local experience

Na Bolom is a hotel in San Cristobal that tells a story. It’s a cultural center, museum, and a hotel that welcomes intrepid guests into its historic quarters. Na Bolom is located about a ten-minute walk from Centro on a quiet little street.

The property is the former home of Danish archeologist Franz Blom and journalist and activist Gertrude Duby Blom. The museum and library on site tells the story of their work, love story, and how they met in Chiapas.

Casa Na Bolom is a colonial-style Chiapas house with a courtyard and an organic garden. The rooms have a fireplace, traditional designs, local art, and en suite bathrooms. A delicious breakfast is cooked up daily for all hotel guests.

The restaurant across the street under the same name was honestly one of my favorite places to go for breakfast during my stay in San Cristobal de Las Casas. It’s located in a beautiful garden, which was the perfect place to relax with a plate of chilaquiles and a cup of local Chiapas coffee on a sunny morning.

Hotel prices start at $40 USD per night for a standard king room. Book a stay at Hotel Na Bolom here.
