Millions of tiny cod larvae being released by Sweden into Baltic Sea

  • Millions of cod larvae are being planted at the moment in the Baltic Sea, as part of a 50 million kronor project aimed at helping restore the sea's ecological balance.

  • Despite a ban on the commercial fishing of cod in the Baltic Sea, there's no sign that the sea's weak cod stocks are on the mend.

  • As a large wild fish, cod play an important role in the Baltic Sea's ecosystem, and it's hoped that the project could lead to more cod releases on an even larger scale.
