Every day, my neighbor tells me to have a good morning.
Every day, I tell him to f*ck off.

Each morning, he stands on his porch with an annoying smirk on his perfect face.
He’s made it his life’s mission to get under my skin.

Until one day, he’s no longer on his porch but on mine.
He claims he wants to redeem himself for ruining my reputation.
My instincts tell me to stay away, but with each morning he shows up, it becomes harder and harder to resist his charm.

MY EMOTIONSSSS.

Ok so I went into Just Neighbors expecting a sassy enemies to lovers neighbor romance, and YES, Charity Ferrell totally delivered that, but she also hit me right in the feels box. I mean SERIOUSLY this author made me swoon for these characters, angry at them, angry for them, sad for them, happy for them. The entire spectrum of feelings can be felt while reading Just Neighbors.

Chloe and Kyle have a bit of a past. Not exactly a second chance romance, but they have bad blood and we get small hints at why before it is all eventually revealed. Honestly, so many more things are going on this book than you will ever guess. I mean I feel like I’m pretty good at figuring things out and it took me a bit. I think the author did a great job giving us just enough as the story goes on. The main plot is clearly Kyle and Chloe taking a chance on each other, but the side plots that connect them are SO SO good.

So even though this book had me crying on my couch in front of my five year old, *shakes fist at author* it was SUCH a good read. I love that the relationship moves fast in ways and slow in others. I love that the side plots were as interesting as the love story, and I love that even though this one is beyond sad at times it has that REAL feel. Like even though this book is a happy escape it also has that dose of real that makes it that much more enjoyable!

Going into this book I was expecting a fun and sexy read. I was however not expecting to be sucker punched with emotions.
Just Neighbors is going to surprise the heck out of you.

Don't get me wrong, this book was super fun, hilarious and sexy with it's sizzling chemistry!
Let's also not forget that the characters had personalities that demanded attention with it's witty intellect. The emotions in this book is one a whole new level... Just Neighbors is one book you should not miss reading.

This is a perfect balance of enemies to lovers/ second chance romance. A story that will make you laugh, love and put you in an undeniable state of lust. 😆

Some people aren’t nice, and if there’s anything I’ve learned from my chaotic childhood, it’s that hurt people hurt other people.

New-to-me author, Charity Ferrell, really impressed me. I read some of the teasers for this book, found it to be light and dirty, saw it was free, and one-clicked. And then I was completely blown over by the fact that this story was NOTHING like I expected.

Was it enemies-to-lovers? Yes.
Kind of a second chance romance? Yes again.
But it ended up having such a deeper meaning than the dirty talking teasers led me to believe.

Chloe was the girl born and raised on the 'wrong' side of the tracks. Kyle was the golden boy, son of the mayor turned respected police officer. A moment of teenage angst turned these two into enemies and the hatred in Chloe's soul only boils hotter when he moves in next door. She has a hard time pulling up her big woman panties and treating him as the man he is today and not the boy she once knew. But Kyle isn't one to give up and he'll show her he's changed no matter what.

Family drama, a blossoming relationship, and a ton of woe made this supposedly 'light' read into a real winner.

Oh my god!! I think I’m broken! I’m still fracking crying! JAYSUS this one hit me so hard.

This book started out with a bang. It immediately drew me in. It’s funny as heck and also sexy AF. The plot, pace, and characters are all winners.

Here’s what I loved:
Charity Ferell is a new to me author. I absolutely love finding new authors to binge. That’s exactly I plan to do with this series. I want to read them all.
It’s sexy AF. Kyle is perfection. Smoking hot, an alpha badass, but sweet and down to earth when it’s necessary.
The heroine is sassy, strong and snarky.
The book left me in a glass case of emotion. The twist is unexpected and heartrending. Loved it.
The emotional gut punch and family drama were showcased perfectly.

I’ll definitely be reading more books from this author ASAP. I highly recommend this book.

I am not feeling it. Just Neighbors does not click with me. Despite many of good reviews saying the story is emotional roller coaster, I do not click with the writing style.

The story basically going to be revealed little by little as the plot progressed. I just do not have patience to listen through 8 hours of the audiobook.

4.5 Kyle and Chloe Stars

This book shredded me! I'm warning you now, you will need tissues.

I have not read this author before and I read this book out of reading order but it works as a Standalone.
Kyle is a hot cop and is also still as popular around town now as he was when he was in High School. Chloe was from the rough part of town when she was a child and even though she was already socially an outcast at school , Kyle did something awful which made her teenage life even more hellish. As a result she hates him.

Move forward a decade and these two are now neighbours. Can they be civil ? Friends? More than that? Kyle may have done wrong as a kid but he wants Chloe as fiercely now as he did then. Chloe has a secret. A huge , dark secret and it has the potential to blow both their lives apart.

I thought I was getting a flirty , fun romance. I got that but this book also blindsided me with a deep, dark and tragic aspect to it. Plus, the social shaming of Chloe broke my heart - I wanted to throat punch some of the characters in this book! I guessed the twist early on but even so, it was well executed and written.

So , why not 5 stars? I was disappointed when Kyle said / did something pretty harsh when he was furious with her after the secret is revealed. At that point he was in love with her and I wished he had listened to Chloe. He does redeem himself though. I did like that both of them resolved to fix things with each other.

HEA? Yes - although I would have liked another epilogue peeking further into their future.
Cheating? No
Trigger? Yes - drug / alcohol abuse , child neglect , loss of a child.

Every time I write a review in which I say there was just too much going on in the book for me to totally believe it, I always figure there's probably someone out there who is living the life told in the story.

That said, this pretty much had everything. Enemies to lovers, high school shame caused by one of them toward the other, issues with children, fertility, junkie parents and family members, secrets about paternity and difficult relationships with those in their families, trailer park drama, scenes in public with drunks, public family confrontations and, I am sure I am missing something.

What it didn't have was a strong connection with the main characters, Kyle and Chloe. There were times where I thought the story with them was going to move forward, and it was going to be about them, but then something else happened to pull the direction of the story into another drama that was only slightly focused on the relationship.

The writing was strong, and the story had potential...it just wasn't realized for me in this story.

First off this is a NEW TO ME Author & Books! I saw this cover alone and was intrigued then I read the blurb and before even finishing it I knew I wanted to read this book. Who doesn't love a Enemy-To-Lovers COP ROMANCE!! So, THANK YOU for my ARC, I appreciate it!!

"The man gets off on making me miserable."

From the first pages I loved LOVED this. The banter, the learning why the hate, the way Kyle talks to Chloe...it is a lot of fun to start reading, there is a lot of danger, mystery, compassion, hate-to-love and ARGH CAN'T BUT NOT LOVE Chloe...Kyle is a MEGA ALPHA that not only redeems himself but the reasons along...heartbreaking for both!!

What do you get when you put together a COP and a Journalist? LUIS & CLARK type, i swear that's exactly how I wanted to picture it all PLUS both the hero & ex first names start with K (just sayin'). Their sexual tension, so thin you can cut it with a butter knife. I loved every banter between them, they were not below the belt and again the tension...amazing!

When Chloe is deemed a cheater, by her ex who was an ACTUAL cheater, everything is off, the twice take-him-back & engagement. Wasted 5 years, and Kyle will not let it live down. Having known Kyle since the high school years, they have a past that isn't so colorful or pretty. Now as adults the banter is still there but the attraction is so obvious, right in front of their nose. But how to take another chance, for either one of them?

"I'm starting to like you more, dear neighbor."

This so sweet banter, secrets, forgiveness and love/hate is one of the sweetest stories I've read. I am SO hooked that I can not wait to get a paperback so I can re-read it in future time. I am rating this book a 5 PLUS & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It's that good that I am putting it on my TOP 2019 MUST READ list!

He was the only one who wanted to hang out with h during the years that she was bullied. The H insist that OM talked poorly of her in HS too.
H had a gf after h in HS and broke up with her after she wrote slut on h’s locker.
H’s dad cheats on his mom for years and years with multiple people and has a child because of it.

⭐️ Wow, talk about total and utter disappointment. I’ve never read a book that started out as a five star and then ended up undeserving of any stars at all. What a load of crap. I’m so angry right now.

This book was amazingly written. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but it’s true. The author can write such great stories, and that makes this so much worse. Why make the first 60 % of a book so good, if you decide to kill everything good about the story in the last 40 %?

It’s like baking the most delicious chocolate cake ever, and just when you’re about to taste it, you bring the cake outside only to shove the entire thing in dog poop right after. Like, why would you do that!?

Maybe a bit dramatic, but I just can’t help it. It would have been easier to cope if this book started out okay and then turned out not so okay. But not this fast tracked downfall. For the first half of the story I actually thought I’d found a new favorite author. But then everything became way too much and now I’m so frustrated.

Spoiler alert; I’m going in for a more detailed review.

First of all; the woman, Chloe, and the guy, Kyle, have known each other since high school. She was considered as trailer trash, while he was the mayor’s son. He ended up being partly responsible for her being slut shamed and bullied throughout high school. Years later, he sets out to correct his wrongs and finally getting back the girl he’s been in love with since they were kids. And then everything turns to shit. Just kidding. Not.

It was good enough of a story when it revolved around him trying to make things right after years of hurt on her part. It was also intriguing when the story about her ex was included. Then her family’s issues were thrown in, but the kids were great and the problem with her sister wasn’t so big that it stole any real focus from the main story. The growing love between them was such a cute read, especially how sincere and unrelenting he was.

But then things started to go downhill pretty fast. She reveals she can’t have kids. Okay. I felt for her and realized that it was probably the secret she was so afraid to tell him and kept hinting about. It was big, but still the focus was on the two of them.

But then trouble with the sister and her kids goes from bad to seriously whacked. Turns out they are not only dealing with a selfish mother, but the kids are living in an unsafe, unstable home with both domestic abuse, negligence, alcohol and drug use. I started getting the feeling that the book would no longer keep it’s focus where I wanted it to be.

And then her sister’s junky boyfriend drops the bomb; Kyle’s dad had an affair with Chloe’s sister seventeen years earlier which resulted in a kid. The kid that Chloe’s been pretty much raising since birth. The kid she introduced to her boyfriend as a nephew, knowing that they were actually brothers. And the only explanation for never telling him was the fact that his dad told her not to. He is reasonably pissed and dumps her.

At this point, I’m thinking that the book has already went too far. One of them actually points out that there is no chance of them ever being together, because way too much have happened. And I agree.

But the author decides to throw some more drama in to the mix. The youngest kid dies while driving with her intoxicated mother. A drive happening during a short visitation, considering both of the kids have moved in permanently with their aunt at the time. So much for happier times. Now, one of the two kids Chloe has always considered as her own is dead and the other is completely broken, as is she, while the mother is in the hospital with no remorse or guilt whatsoever. Like I said, chocolate cake in dog shit.

Kyle shows up during the difficult time, but at the same time reminds himself of Chloe’s betrayal. Because let’s not forget that she actually kept a huge secret from him and lied to him during their entire relationship. Cake now fully rubbed in.

Chloe and Kyle eventually find their way back to each other in all the chaos and heart ache. Some time later, Chloe legally becomes the kid’s mother. But let’s be honest, there is no happy ending here. At least not in my opinion.

[1 star] sighs~~~~~ how should i explain my dislikes for this book.

firstly, i don't really like the heroine. she keep chanting how much she hate the hero but when the hero keeps on taunting her, she keeps engaging with him, should have just ignore him totally.

secondly, i don't know how she can fuck the hero when again her chants about hating him is continuously there.

thirdly, the author keeps emphasizing on a secret the heroine is hiding, that she is lying etc. YES, i know that there is a BIG secret underlying. it doesn't have to be repeated over and over again. it's super annoying to be honest.

lastly, when the BIG secret was revealed, the hero is pissed at the heroine and not letting her explain why. and so the heroine seduce him and fuck him in hoping that he will hear her explain. and after the fuck-fest, the hero slap her ass and say thank you, and she became the one who is pissed. like seriously??!! *roll eyes to the max* and when the heroine's niece died from car accident, the hero wanted to be her friend and help her. WOW, what a change of heart. *roll eyes yet again* and the heroine decides she doesn't want him anymore and kicks him out.

omg, the more i write the more i hate the book. probably wouldn't read any more of the author's books.

I'm sobbing right now, I just finished the book and I can't stop crying. Kyle is literal goals for book boyfriends. Such a beautiful story. I hated what the MC had to grow up with and how her sister became like her mother. Hated that her nephew and niece had to deal with the repeated cycle. Such a beautiful dang story, this is going to weigh on my heart for a while. Wow. If you're going to read this, keep tissues ready. Trust me.

Poor Chloe. Her neighbor, with whom she shares a not so pleasant past, drives her absolutely batty. She wants him to just stop talking to her, trying to sweeten her up, to let him apologize and make up for his previous jackholery. But will the hot neighbor/cop/enemy listen when she tells him to fuck off?! Of course not. Because. Because Kyle wants a chance to redeem himself. She really isn't sure she wants to give him a chance to do anything, but her traitorous body can't seem to get with the program.

Whew, Just Neighbors is not what I was expecting. Well it is, but it's also more. I was expecting something just dripping with barely concealed contempt, with a feisty heroine telling off the obviously assholish neighbor. And yes, I did get that. But I also got something more heartfelt, something more intriguing, something more suspenseful, something with secrets and layers and layers of stuff just roiling around beneath the surface. I loved it when Chloe told Kyle off and he kept coming back for more. And I loved it when he got all alpha on her and she didn't back down, but she did revel in his in her face attitude. And did I mention their chemistry? H O T!!!! I love me a good enemies to lovers story, and Just Neighbors hit the spot perfectly and then some. It gave me all that tension I live for, plus lots of heart, lots of emotion, and lots of steam. You can't ask for much more!

This is the first book of Charity Ferrell's that i have read and i loved it. It was so good. It was an enemies to lovers book and that is one of my favorite tropes. Kyle and Chloe had a love-hate relationship. More hate on Chloe's side. It had real emotion between the two main characters. There was anger, sincerity, misunderstandings, heartache, and don't forget about the heat. This book was hot. Let's just say this book had everything. There was parts of this book that made me want to throw my Kindle across the room. It had me up until well past my bedtime because i didn't want it to put it down. It had twists that you didn't really see coming. I had a feeling but i wasn't sure until it was revealed and I was still surprised. You may want to keep some tissues ready for parts of this book. As i said this was my first book but it won't be my last.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I just want to talk to the person that decided that ending. Just a little heart to heart that's all.

I liked the book except for the painful part ( throwing up my middle finger right now) . This was the first book I've read in the series and I had no trouble following even though there were mentions of people who I assume are characters from the previous book, their contributions did nothing to deter the story.

2.5 ⭐️ This book was ok.

I wasn't wowed or impressed much, but it was entertaining. Chloe's lack of will-power, and how easily she folded and did anything that Kyle wanted took a lot of enjoyment out of this enemies-to-lovers for me. The ending was surprisingly emotional and difficult to read, and I did not expect it at all. I should've checked for TWs.

As someone who seldom gave 1-star away, this book pissed me off so much. Here we rant.

Read the TW before proceeding. This story included sensitive topics of CHILD DEATH, infertility, and bullying.

Pair: this is a second chance story between two high school sweethearts - a popular guy from the prestige family and a woman from the opposite sides of the track aka "trailer-trash".

Review: The book starts off with the harmless banter between high school rivalry. The cocky and arrogant hero is not the kind I prefer and it turns out I'm right because he is unlikeable and insufferable. He did something to hurt Chole (FMC) in high school which tainted her reputation and made her the target of bullying. I tolerated him for the first 25% until he blackmailed her into having dinner with him and later ate her out. Chole is a pushover, she has every right to hate him but hardly resists his charm, which makes me eventually lose interest to read any further. I don't care if he has redeeming qualities or about their growing affection. I was tired of his verbal attack one after another. This is the exact wording he said to Chole after she was heartbroken by a family tragedy.
"Don't be upset when you're alone and nursing a broken heart for the rest of your life because you're so goddam stubborn."

The other reason I hate him is that he had no remorse (just several hurt looks and painful grimaces is not enough, dude), no groveling, and no grand gesture. After the "hate fuck", he slapped her ass and

"Thanks for the fuck, neighbour. Like I said. I appreciate the fuck. This was fun. Next time you want a quick, meaningless fuck, you know where to find me."

"What have I done to hurt you? What the flying fuck have I done? I did something shitty in high school that I thought we'd moved on from.
Are you fucking serious?!

If you read the review by other readers to reveal the spoiler, you learned that the writer use the death of a child in the third act as a catalyst to rekindle their relationship. This was a low move! As someone reading romance books as escapism, I could justify the books including the topics of abuse or assault (physical or sexual) in the background story which at least helped character-sculpting and plot-building. Not the death of a child whom the reader already developed fondness, certainly not.

All death of animals or children is an unnecessary emotional manipulation I could avoid at all costs.

To say there is no HEA is exaggerated, however, it is safe to say this toxic pair deserves each other. No one wins in the end, the happy ending was artificial and unconvincing. Any heart-warm feeling I had before the accident is dampened by that inconsolable death. (sad face emoji)

This author hits the spot with this enemy to lovers story, it is fantastic!

Chloe Fieldgain is a journalist who has despised Kyle Lane since High School. Both residents of Blue Beech, Iowa, their mutual dislike for each other creates some very interesting moments.

The sexual chemistry between the lead characters is off the charts and the tension is so tight you could almost cut it with a knife. It’s a fine line between hate and love, mix in a hefty dose of lust and you have an amazingly combustible recipe.

Kyle does come across as extremely arrogant, and he certainly is, however, he is so much more. As the author builds up his character you get to see a depth to him that is honest, supportive and swoon-worthy. He is an easy character to like as is Chloe who has fought for everything she has achieved in her life. She is extremely ‘real’ and easy to relate to in the story. Now her sister, Claudia, is the exact opposite...great descriptions all round.

Talk about some great humour, the fun banter between characters livens the dialogue up and some funny descriptions leave you chuckling. There are some very serious issues in the book as well and these aren’t swept under the rug by any means, they are addressed very clearly and at times with quite a bit of angst, I thought my throat was going to close up for good with the emotional scenes towards the end.

A story I have no hesitation in recommending to everyone.

Wow how freaking amazing was this book!! High school sweethearts, to enemies, to lovers, to their everything's!! This book had everything for me, romance, loss, love, hate and everything in between... once you start you will not be able to put it down, this story has given me back what I was missing... my love of reading, of stories so powerful they make you stop and re-evaluate what you think you know about love and life. A very heartwarming but also heartbreaking story of two neighbors who charm the pants (literally) off each other.

OMG This is one book I am glad I read. I loved every minute of it and I wanted more of Kyle and Chloe. They are an amazing couple when they get there and Kyle is so sweet and swoon worthy that I needed a tall glass of ice while I was reading this story.

Every morning Kyle says good morning to his neighbor Chloe and every morning she tells him to eff off. See Kyle and Chloe went to high school together and something happened between them and Chloe has hated him ever since. But now that they are adults Chloe likes him and she doesn't want to but she does. The chemistry between them is off the hook and they are hot as hell when they get together.

Kyle is determined to change Chloe's mind about him and so he starts to go over to her house in the morning to talk to her and pretty soon Chloe can't resist Kyle and his sexy ways.

This is a must read series because it is hot as hell! I am totally Team Kyle all the way!

These days I am rarely caught off guard by free books on Amazon, especially of authors I have not read before or heard of and among them, this one will remain a very good surprise. If you are looking for a quick and sexy read, this won't be it. Sexy it is but quick it is not.

This story after a really long time managed to bring tears to my eyes and I rarely cry for books (yes I am cold-hearted like that. Last book I cried was for November 9 and still I do for it). At the beginning I was snorting my way through the first few chapter blindly unaware of the utter sadness the last few chapters would bring me. The story started pretty strongly for my taste and the banter between the characters were hilarious and amazing. The first few chapters will keep you asking what actually happened between the two characters. Believe me when i say I was clearly shocked when we get to know the identity of Trey's father. I really was not expecting that at all. One of my favorite thing in the book was how real the characters stood out. Compared to others who do act all saintly (which I really do not mind), Kyle was flawed. The decisions he took were not always the correct ones. Hell, both of them took utterly stupid decisions. Still this is what makes the story much more endearing in a way. Knowing the H and h are just as flawed as us. Love does weird things. Theirs is not one where you dream of it happening to you, not one where you are envious of and clearly not one where you call couple goals but the realistic aspect of it makes it more like-able. Humans make mistakes, the nature of humans are to screw up. Not everyone would be taking the picture perfect correct decisions.

Funny, frustrating and fabulously sexy enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance with a twist.
Chole Fieldgain is a walking talking cliché. Shes been cheated on, forgiven, cheated on again and is now frustratingly single. Shes also a journalist with her small town The Blue Beech Register.
Her nemesis -Kyle Lane is a hot cop and mayors son who's made her lief he'll since high school
Kyle Lane, the man I’ve despised since sophomore year of high school, moved into the house next door three months, six days, and twenty hours ago. The jerk wore out his welcome within five seconds. Correction: he was never welcome in my neighborhood.
They come to loggerheads at the drop a hat and their banter keeps story alive and pulsating
The chemistry zapping and could light up their town!!
I enjoyed reading this standalone witty, hot, sexy story

“‘You can ruin me. Please don’t.’”

I. AM. RUINED!!!!! Charity Fucking Ferrell everyone!!!! She has RUINED me in the best way possible!

Just Neighbors was BEYOND what I was expecting and fuck I just want more! Charity is definitely a new fav author for me! Like just shove everything in my face that this woman has ever written and I will eternally be content!

Just Neighbors was a freaking whirlwind! SOOOO much was packed into this book that made it all the better! Chloe and Kyle are everything! Their banter, the sexual tension, their hearts, FUCKKKK their hearts man! The feels in this book will capture everything you stand for and hold it hostage until the very end of this book!

Plus I think I just found a new plot twist queen!

Just Neighbors was exciting and thrilling in the way that the pages are fighting to glide past one another just so you’ll get to the end. It was ALL CONSUMING and one of the best enemies to lovers, second chance romances I will ever read!

Charity Ferrell does it again.... She made me laugh, cry, and want to throw my kindle all at once! We've previously met Kyle (Gage's best friend) and I was so excited to finally have his story. Kyle and Chloe have been enemies as far back as high school, where something happened that completely ruined their friendship. Just Neighbors is a story about holding on to anger, and learning when to let that anger go. This story had the perfect amount of seriousness, comedy, and sexiness all wrapped into one perfect story. Charity can do NO WRONG. If you like an enemies to lovers book that's filled with a sarcastic hero, and a headstrong heroine, this book is definitely for you!

Maybe they should've stayed just neighbors.

Here's the thing.
It only takes one scene to ruin a book for me.

This is about Chloe and Kyle. They went to highschool together but had a falling out which made Chloe hate him ever since. Now he's moved in next door. Every morning he tells her good morning and he tries to get under her skin in every opportunity he has.
Slowly they start hanging out together and form a relationship. What Kyle doesn't know, is that Chloe is hiding something from him, and that if he finds out, this time he'll be the one hating her.

I truly liked the book at first, was it the best thing ever? Absolutely not. But it was fun and short.
I did feel like there were some where we were told about instead of shown, like a lot of their conversations at the beginning, and so I couldn't really connect with them and see their connection to one another.
The enemies part wasn't exactly enemies because they got together pretty quick. But I slide it off. Because the book was nice enough.
I thought Kyle was a little condescending jerk at first. But I also slide that off.
However, when I got to the 70% mark, I couldn't slide some things off.
And a few little scenes ruined the whole thing for me.

Spoilers from here:

This was an hilarious story, Kyle & Chloe had me laughing right from the beginning with their craziness and banter. You see Chloe, really hates Kyle, and Kyle lives next door to Chloe and takes great pleasure in tormenting her every morning with some cheeky, fun remarks as she leaves for work.....all hot and bare chested, and then she hates herself for noticing. (as she recalls how great he also looks in his policeman’s uniform. Damn)
There’s a deeper story here though and as reason become clearer you’ll come to realize why Kyle and Chloe have reached this level. And as they play along, a relationship begins and it was interesting to see how it changed and developed.
But it’s not all fun and games, there’s some hard lesson’s to be learned that had my emotions in a turmoil and it broke my heart.

A delightful story, very true to life. Funny, brilliantly written with very authentic characters that were developed well. Definite must read.

Must read!

Wow this gave me all the feels. I started this book laughing my butt off. Then I was gutted but Charity somehow managed to still end this with me feeling happy. Not sure how she did it but she turned it around when I thought there was no coming back. I have to say that Chloe's secret was something I did not see coming. I had the feeling it had to do with Sam but man was I taken by surprise with that one. I do wish there was a longer epilogue but all in all this was a must read and worth all 5 stars!
