La Voyance — tel est le thème du troisième album de Hegemone — est vue comme un don mais elle porte une part de malédiction car, pour toucher l'irréel, il faut abandonner son humanité. Le post-black metal emprunte le même chemin, se faisant incroyablement lourd et tellurique ; certaines mélodies sont infernales. Un voyage à sens unique.

Gorgeously bleak doom-drenched blackened post-metal. Thick mists swirl, bearing putrid scents. Suffering, screaming, dying surrounds me on all sides. The blackness is shot through with slick red shimmering. I taste ash on my tongue, then realize it’s my own body burning, swiftly consumed, obliterated as if I had never been.

I always thought the cover art for each of their albums stood very well for the atmosphere of the release. So this is their darkest and most angry album so far? Absolutely. But despite all the oppression there also is a certain lightness about their music lying over the destructive and crushing foundation. Like the (spirit) light from the eyes in the cover, some uplifting notes are rising out of the massive and gloomy mass that is Voyance.

"Voyance” is the third album by Polish Blackened Post - Metal band HEGEMONE.
After releasing 2 previous LPs, HEGEMONE are back with an incredibly ambitious work, shaping their already bleak and oppressive sound into something even more grandiose, desperate and terrifying.
“Voyance” is an incredibly inspired album, conjuring suffering and a sense of calamity by carefully combining gloomy and gelid Black Metal with the savegery of hardcore and the heaviness of sludge: Folk instruments, electronic frequencies and freezingly cold riffs are all placed inside a massively dissonant wall of sound, creating a truly unique sonic nightmare.
A titanically heavy album, building a monumental and uncompromising architecture of rage, tension, disquiet and pain.

so many gems in this album but after i went through this in order for my review, i kept returning to this anguished call to humanity, an emblem of despair in vast nothingness. a shred of hope dashed, as this album as a whole speaks to the annihilation of the ideals of humanity and the pedestals they sit on - and what happens when we watch all that shatter. there are plenty of outer space themed albums, but VORGA brings us something worth listening to.

What I like the most about this album is that it seems to be more riff-oriented and memorable compared to their earlier albums which were chock-full of crazy dissonant riffage but their songs often meandered or lacked any distinct progression. That is not to say that this this album is any less dense, but is certainly a little catchier, here and there. As always with Ulcerate, their music rewards repeated listening while clearly retaining the tragic, emotional feeling the band is known for.
