Hello, I have one MBA from Mysore University, India and want to get one more master from USA universities. If I apply for the scholarship do I have any priority as I already have one master. For instance, can I apply and get admission without getting TOFEL? Can you suggest universities that do not require language test?

Hello, I don’t believe that a previous degree will be much of a benefit to you when you apply for a Master’s at UT Austin. Regarding the language proficiency exam like TOEFL, I do think that they will waive it for your if you have studied your previous degree in English, which is your case. Most universities do, but check with the universities.

Hi, I’m from Nigeria. Although, I don’t have a Masters degree yet. Please, can I apply directly for a PhD program at UT, Austin?

    • Hyun Lee at - Reply

Yes, students can apply straight to US Ph.D. without a bachelor’s. Actually, it is advised that students do that if they know they want to get a Ph.D. at the end.

Hi, I am a student of Biochemistry and molecular biology in Nigeria. I haven’t got my final transcript but will be rounding up this November. Please can I still apply for the graduate assistantship?

    • Hyun Lee at - Reply

Hello yes, graduate programs in UT Austin starts in August, so you will be fine. You just have to graduate by May to start the program on August. There’s no separate application for graduate assistantships, and just a note, it is extremely difficult to get Graduate Assistantships as a Master’s student since the funding first goes to Ph.D. students. You can apply straight to Ph.D. programs from bachelor’s, and there are actually many departments who do not offer Master’s program, just fyi.

Hello, I have my master’s degree from Almustafa University in Afghanistan and want to get my PHD from USA universities. If I apply for the scholarship, do I have any priority as I have a Bachelor’s in English language and Master’s in public administration? For instance, can I apply and get admission without getting TOFEL? Can you suggest universities that do not require language test?

    • Hyun Lee at - Reply

Hello, regarding UT Austin Ph.D, almost all Ph.D students are fully funded at the school and there’s no separate application procedure for scholarships. You just need to apply for admissions and get admitted. Regarding priority, no, you don’t have any priorities with those degrees, and you do need English proficiency Test scores unless you meet their exemption criteria. I can’t think of any university that does not require English proficiency scores for Ph.D.
