This 1983 Datsun 280ZX is finished in beige over red velour upholstery and is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 16″ wheels, a factory AM/FM cassette stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, removable T-top roof panels, and power accessories. The car was acquired by the seller in March 2022 and services performed in preparation for the sale included replacing a tie rod, the radiator, exhaust system, the shocks, and the clutch line. This S130 shows 57k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, removed factory wheels, a service manual, a window sticker, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in French Beige Metallic (029) with black bumper trim and features a T-bar roof with removable glass panels. Exterior details include a vented hood with a NACA duct, a power-retractable antenna, and a rear window wiper. The seller notes that the power antenna intermittently does not fully retract.
Aftermarket 16″ multi-spoke alloy wheels wearing Z-branded center caps are mounted with 225/50 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires that show 2021 production date codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. A tie rod and the front and rear dampers were replaced during current ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in red velour joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include a factory AM/FM cassette stereo, cruise control, ZX-branded floor mats, air conditioning, a metal gearshift, and power-operated windows, mirrors, and door locks. A set of rubber floor mats will also be included in the sale.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and voltage are mounted atop the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 57k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added during current ownership.
The 2.8-liter L28E inline-six features fuel injection and was factory rated at 145 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. The exhaust system, radiator, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition wires were replaced during current ownership. The most recent oil change was carried out in July 2022, and an engine oil leak is noted.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, and the clutch hydraulic line was replaced in preparation for the sale. A Ziebart corrosion inhibitor is said to have been applied to the underside, engine bay, and body cavities. Additional underside photos are viewable in the gallery.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Jim Taylor Motors of Meadville, Pennsylvania, along with factory colors, equipment, options, and a total MSRP of $15,774.
A set of 14″ factory wheels with Toyo Eclipse tires are included in the sale along with the removed factory radiator, gearshift, mudflaps, and floor mats.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage and shows registration in Pennsylvania from the first entry in 1988. A gap in entries is noted between 1988 and 2002.
