Yet another blow to America: OPEC is cutting oil production by two million barrels per day, leaving White House with little option but to walk back its green agenda, following swift denunciations of OPEC for being “shortsighted,” making “a mistake,” supporting Russia, and being self-serving (as if the Biden administration isn’t).
In pursuit of the green agenda, the wrecking-ball Biden administration cancelled the Keystone Pipeline; suspended any new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits for federal land and water; was notoriously anti-fracking; and now, in the face of the OPEC announcement, Biden is running the other way. In sheer desperation, the Biden administration is now “exploring avenues through Congress to respond to the production cut while working to further boost domestic production”; yet again exposing the administration’s inherent shortsightedness. Germany isn’t far behind, now finding itself in such a deep hole that it is turning to the dirtiest option for energy to offset its energy crisis: coal. How much more can it possibly take for populations to wake up and see the globalist agenda for what it is?
“White House blasts Opec saying it is ‘aligning with Russia’ after oil production cut announcement,” by Joe Bowen, Independent, October 5, 2022:
“Opec’s decision to cut productions quotas is short sighted. while the global economy is dealing with the continued negative impact of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” said Ms Jeane-Pierre.
“It’s clear that Opec+ is aligning with Russia with today’s announcement,” she added to reporters.
Ms Jean-Pierre did not go as far as to call it a “hostile act” following a question from a reporter, but reiterated that it was a mistake and on its face made in Opec’s own self-interest.
The White House also announced in a separate, longer statement released to journalists that it would be exploring avenues through Congress to respond to the production cut while working to further boost domestic production.
“The President is also calling on U.S. energy companies to keep bringing pump prices down by closing the historically large gap between wholesale and retail gas prices — so that American consumers are paying less at the pump,” read that statement from economic adviser Brian Deese and national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
“In light of today’s action, the Biden Administration will also consult with Congress on additional tools and authorities to reduce Opec’s control over energy prices,” they continued….

OPEC has had the West by the balls since its inception. The pressing need to end this is partly what drives renewable energy, whether you believe climate change or not. Those nations that have not accepted green principles are suffering the consequences and serve them right!
Australia has been a laggard but less than 2 years has seen huge progress (since the previous climate change deniers were voted out) with massive private and government investment, Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forest being front-runner via FFI both domestically & globally.
South Australia is now 100% renewables powered & at times generates 145% of its power needs, exporting the excess to Victoria. Here’s the object lesson for all conspiracy theorists.

AND… Islamic terror has been the beneficiary of the vast oil generated revenues in Islamic Middle East. Another compelling reason to get off our oil addiction.

In the news this very week, it was reported that biden is canceling some oil permits. So, how is he any different from the opec guys? He is “different” in that he is supposed to look out for the American people and opec has no such mandate.
Even dems are unhappy. and so are the oil people. from the nyt
“They need to loosen regulations, they need to release all those permits sitting on someone’s desk for drilling on federal lands, and they need to allow the Keystone XL pipeline to come down to deliver the Canadian oil sands to American consumers,” said Darlene Wallace, a board member of the Oklahoma Energy Producers Alliance. “And the president needs to encourage investors to invest in the oil business.”
Jim J Fox says
Oil sands, Canadian or otherwise are the most polluting source of oil & should be banned, period. Just as brown coal is the worst in its category.
Investing in fossil fuels is a mugs game as they will become stranded assets sooner than any ‘expert’ realises.

Why aren’t we working more on developing geothermal energy? It looks like the best energy solution to me – especially the binary geothermal system where water works with another fluid that has a lower boiling point (check YouTube for videos on how binary geothermal works). Also, look at a map of where geothermal would probably work and over half of the U.S. is covered – most of it being the western half but it could also work in a large part of the Midwest and even in some parts of the eastern U.S. Yet the current online geothermal plants are all in the far western states like California, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon and Utah.
I don’t know why we aren’t working more on this way of generating power instead of focusing so much on wind and solar. Here’s the map I mentioned:

It’s in the plan to make people beg them for something….**help**… so they can control all thought, actions. and belief. They don’t want to make things better, because then people would not beg them for help.

Nailed it, somehistory. All this is not about what is most effective (N.B., cars powered by fossil fuels with the most modern technology are actually far less polluting than EVs due to the fact that the mining of minerals for EVs does far more damage to the Earth) but about control and power. Ditto for the Covid mess for the past two and a half years and concerning which the “experts” and politicians got virtually everything wrong—from the lockdowns to social distancing to talking down natural immunity in favor of vaccines which weren’t even vaccines but, at best, therapeutics, to absurdly locking down schools but opening up nursing homes when it should have been the other way around—oh yeah, all the slave mask nonsense too. It’s Orwell’s 1984 happening some forty years later.
James Lincoln says
Wellington says,
“…cars powered by fossil fuels with the most modern technology are actually far less polluting than EVs due to the fact that the mining of minerals for EVs does far more damage to the Earth”
Correct.
Also, with current technology, the batteries end up in landfills…
somehistory says
thank you, Wellington. I had to see an eye dr this aft. and have to get a ride due to the dilating thingy. The driver and I were talking about things …virus, lockdowns, electric cars, gasoline, etc. ..and he said he and his wife and daughter talk about it every day; and he also said, other people he drives are doing the same. He said he got the jab and all boosters and his back hasn’t stopped hurting. I told him it’s all about the control and he wholeheartedly agreed.
Some people are waking up.
Jim J Fox says
Check your sources. EVs even using coal-powered electricity are cleaner than ICEs. You’re also wrong about battery production, ignoring historical facts of oil extraction, transportation, spillages & millions of deaths from burning it.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
I’m sure the environmental wackos would find a good reason to dismiss it, just as they have nuclear energy, which too is very clean. The one reason not to go nuclear – radioactive waste – has been resolved in 4th generation nuclear technology. Real work remaining is the cost here
Jim J Fox says
Agreed. Few people have informed themselves about SMRs/MSRs, still trotting out opinions that are years out of date.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
I can see how geothermal would solve issues around electricity, home heating and static uses of power. How would it address the issue of transportation?
CogitoErgoSum says
We are going to have to switch to electric cars. The problem right now is finding a long lasting and quick charging battery. It looks like there are several alternatives to the current lithium batteries. Again, you can check YouTube for videos on the latest in battery technology. A guy named Two Bit da Vinci has some good videos about new types of batteries and also geothermal power plants. Also, here’s a link to a video by Tesla Car World about 4 new types of batteries that look promising:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6anJHBsl4zc
I like my gasoline powered car but it looks to me like most future vehicles are going to be electric. It won’t be so bad. It’s just that Joe Biden is not managing the transition very well at all.
Jim J Fox says
It’s reassuring to read someone talking sensibly about the transition to electric vehicles, CES. Strange that acceptance has been slow in the Nation that made them a reality!
James Lincoln says
Jim J Fox,
The current electric grid in the United States cannot currently support very large numbers of electric vehicles.
First and foremost, the grid needs to be upgraded – enormously – before it can handle the load.
If the United States wants to go mainly electric vis-à-vis transportation, new state-of-the-art nuclear power plants need to be built – and batteries for EVs need to be designed “cradle-to-grave” for recycling.
Only then can internal combustion engines be phased out…
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Jim
In addition to what James mentioned, charging speeds will also have to be improved. Like if you are in Florida on the eve of a hurricane, you don’t have 4 hours to charge your battery before trying to beat the hurricane while hightailing it out of Florida. One interim solution would be cars powered by LNG, but since that is a limited resource long term, the goal needs to be to get battery tech to where it doesn’t have shortcomings that gasoline doesn’t have
There’s also the issue that much of the rare earths are present in either ‘conflict zones’ in Africa, or are being bought up by Beijing in Latin America, most of who now have socialist regimes – from Mexico to Chile
Jim J Fox says
Looks like much of the Western USA and some gulf States would be ideal 4 geothermal energy but the main centres of population are in the east where Geothermal is notably absent on the map.
Costs for Geothermal must be high, otherwise it would be favored?
CogitoErgoSum says
Geothermal would work anywhere in the world but digging a hole deep enough to reach the hot water is the big problem. The deep drilling is very expensive right now. Here’s a video from Matt Ferrell that makes me think we will develop the technology to make it economically practical.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8sjdOjNxIE
I just don’t know how many years in the future it will be. In the meantime, as far as automobiles it looks like hybrid gas/electric would be the way to go until better batteries make all electric the way to go.

Same sort of thing is happening here in the UK, Truss has just granted licence for more oil fields to be opened in the north sea. Talk about going green.

John, I saw a bbc scroll of news and it said that truss was hiding in a corner. Not sure what they meant….my eyes were dilated, so perhaps there was more to the story..

I wouldn’t know Somehistory, but what I do know is that she’s certainly losing a lot of supporters. I’m not feeling as optimistic towards her as I previously did but it’s still early days and we will soon see what she is really made of.

I wouldn’t blame US oil companies for not responding to Biden this time, since everybody knows what his government stands for. At this point, even if he repeals every EO he invoked on day 1, I’d still be leery about renewing projects such as Keystone if I were the one underwriting them
Of course OPEC’s move was predictable: the US is no longer a competitor, Russia is off much of the market (aside from India and China) and others like Iran and Venezuela are still under sanctions. In fact, the most hilarious move was watching the US beg Venezuela – a country that has forgotten how to drill for and refine oil and has to now import it from Iran – depending on that country for a solution. In the meantime, the strategic reserves are the lowest it’s ever been
If there was ever a case to be made for a military coup, this government would be it
James Lincoln says
Agree, Infidel.
Oil companies have quickly learned that they cannot trust this fraudulent Biden administration – and will be extremely cautious about starting any expensive initiatives.

On the lighter side , there is a country song about Joe Biden.
Some of the lyrics to that song are “Let’s Go Brandon, Let’s go, yes I’m talking about you sleepy Joe. You’re a Marxist and you’re WOKE , you’re a dirtbag and a joke, Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.”

There is no explanation for Biden/Harris except vote fraud in key areas. It was not vote fraud on a national scale as some would want us to believe. 2020 vote fraud was pinpointed to areas that fit the successful vote fraud criteria. And why not? If I wanted to get away with it that is what I would do if I were an unscrupulous adversary. Very few that are in their right mind would vote for not only one but both of those two. If I am wrong and actual real voters picked this conglomeration of the below mediocre civil servants we are in big trouble friends.
Joe1 says
Biden has been restricting oil permits on public and private lands based on irrelevant bureaucracy. A court has ruled this illegal, but there is no one to force Biden to follow the court order. The restriction of permits, for silly reasons, drives up the price of gas which is why gas has been getting more expensive since Biden took office. Every small increase in the price of gas means poor children will go hungry all across the world.
VictorMc says
I am sorry to disappoint some of you people out there BUT the reality is that EV s and other things simply cannot work without the long-term supply of electricity which means the use of oil/coal/nuclear for the next 100 years. wind and sun are fun but overall useless furthermore they take up land far far far bigger than a nuclear power plant. Yes, I’m sure people will point out that someplace in Australia (for example) it all works a treat. But we are being conned. It’s all a financial rip-off. With known tech. (and this is where the answers are crucial) this is all political and 90% junk.
