When I was a wee lassie, I was told by my preschool teachers that I was a natural at storytelling. When I was just a little older than that, an old friend's mother said to me, "Kelsey, one day your books are going to be on the shelves at the library."

Well, Diane, I don't know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I'm sure as hell going to try.

When I'm not writing stories destined to be bestsellers, I enjoy devouring TV shows, listening to every type of music there is and going to concerts, reading pretty much anything (with a soft spot for romance and certain books located in 18th century Scotland), obsessing over makeup, and pretending to workout.

I also have a fondness for cats, my family, tattoos, and a really good French fry.

Brilliant. Evocative. Moving!!
Being an avid reader, I'm rarely rendered speechless in describing a good book. In fact it's hard to stop my ramblings and word gushers.
Yet along comes an author, who has book and book again managed to leave me speechless by her word dexterity and emotional maturity. I am forever thankful to the Destiny Goddess who brought me to Kelsey Kingsley. A prolific and astute author, she completely un-did me with this heartfelt story, the heroine of which is similar to her own personality.
She's legally blind, suffering from Achromatopsia. Both Kelsey and Lennon Jacobs the heroine.
Now i need you all to hold on to that thought here.
As human beings we hear innumerable times when one of our friends or family is narrating us their hardships, troubles or tragedies and we nod sympathetically with a reflexive reply...I understand .
Kelsey is here to tell you You. Do NOT!!
Nobody in the history of ever, who has lived without hindrances or disability of any form, WILL NOT/CANNOT have any inkling of what are day to day, minute by minute struggles of people who were chosen by god to face hardships in physical or mental state.
Period.

" It felt like my whole life was spent waiting. Waiting for someone to give me a ride, waiting for someone to finally make the accommodations I needed to work, waiting for someone to have the two seconds to tell me what color something was. Forever waiting on something or someone, and I was growing more and more tired of it by the second. "

We're just liars or sympathisers.
This book split-opened my heart Wider than my eyes. I could actually peep in Kelsey soul and what I saw had me spellbound and awestruck. Hats off to this beautiful warrior, blessed with literary super-powers to bring readers to their knees. Who just happens to be suffering from poor visual acuity.
You are an inspiration lady ❤️
Now back to the book. Lennon is a music lover, particularly obsessed with Dylan Pierce of the band, Angels of the Silences. She's worshipped him from afar ever since she was aware.

" Dylan Pierce was a god. And I was nothing but a blind peasant, worshipping at his feet.  "

description

And her dream comes true when she does meet him in flesh at apart. Karma brings them together for a reason. They're placed there to become each other's Muse. God knows their twin souls are steeped in low self esteem and questionable self worth.
Being together makes them feel SEEN.

“When people stare, they are seeing only what they want to see while they make their judgments. But when someone watches you, they’re really seeing you for who you are. They’re learning.”

(This line alone deserves at least 2 stars!!!)

Dylan was crafted with equal care and poignancy by Kelsey. His life on backfoot, his struggles with his physical trauma and wounded ego made him vulnerable and endearing to me.

description

Together they learn to lean on each other but gain strength to stand on their own.. The best part of te story was the immense pride and courage Kelsey instills in the characters. She makes them earn their freedom and bravado medals and that was the true highlight of this seasoned writer.
What a story. What a life changing, perspective altering story.

"He was right; it was crazy.
And really, really amazing."

It will frustrate you, make you weep, anger you at the unfairness of it all and it will leave you raw with conflicting emotions. Definitely my emotional kryptonite but I'm a better person having read it.

Dylan was the lead singer of the rock band Angels of the Silences.
He was in a car accident where he lost his leg, and after 4 years of absence he started writing lyrics again since he encountered his new muse, Lennon.

Lennon, who was an aspiring author, was legally blind with a condition called achromatopsia. She was sensitive to light, couldn’t drive, and was completely color-blind.

Dylan and Lennon shared a great chemistry, but their emotional connection was not delivered. This emotional unavailability made them distant and unreachable to me.
Yes, I could feel their struggles as well as their insecurities and the walls they had built around them, but they never warmed my heart.

I was desperately trying to find something to love about those characters but I just couldn’t.
Dylan was approaching Lennon only when he run out of inspiration and Lennon had an infatuation with him since she was a kid. I couldn’t detect any love between them. Let me just say that each one was using the other for their own needs, which were remote from deep feelings.

Apart from being slow burn, there was so much back and forth that exhausted my spirits.

So, while they were together no more - yet held onto a friendly relationship, Lennon started dating her school seventh-grade homeroom king, Peter. Their relationship looked nice and on good terms but Lennon hadn’t gotten over Dylan. At that point, Dylan realised he was in love with Lennon.
Tbh, I wasn’t convinced of any strong feelings between Lennon and Dylan. Their communication, throughout the point I read, was almost nonexistent and any affective bond was lacking. Where did love come out from?

For her birthday, Peter had dinner plans with friends and family.
Since Lennon and Dylan were now friends, she invited him also.
Am I the only one who thinks that was nonsensical?? Inviting her ex (sexual) partner who was still on her mind to her birthday dinner, where her current boyfriend would be present and had organised everything?

And that was the point at which I draw the line.

As much as I tried, I couldn’t love it as I was anticipating for, I wasn’t engrossed and it didn’t grip me...

I am so here for evey rock star romance that wants to come my way.
I just love these books. The funny ones. The sad ones. The heartbreaking ones.
Give me all the rock stars!

description

This book was so sweet and so heartbreaking. Or rather heart-hurting.
That beautiful black cover kinda sets the mood for this whole book.
Ugh. Our poor darlings!
It's not all sad and hopeless. We have adorable and funny and music-y and rock stary moments. And I love the family moments - great parents and friends.
But the mood is so give-up-ish or defeatish. No idea what I mean.
Especially Lennon. She has that horrible eye condition where she can't drive or do much of anything really. But she's 29 and living at her parents doing nothing? Why? Why didn't she try so many more things in the past ten years? Yes, she tried finding jobs and companies are not good at making room for disabled people. But if you have the chance to live with your parents for free - go and make your dreams come true. Find your passion. Do something amazing. She could've at least jobbed at a dog shelter cuddling pups. But she did nothing but watch netflix and go to the bookstore. I was a bit disappointed with her to be honest.
(What she later does is perfect but it should've been mentioned a bit more earlier in the book!)
And Dylan. He gave up after the accident. Which is totally understandable. But he's also still alive and it's been four years and he has all that talent and ugh.
Those two got on my nerves quite a bit.
Which doesn't mean that I hated the story - I loved reading it!
They obviously get their happy end in life and love by the end of the book. It just takes a long while to get there.
Don't let me scare you away from loving this book. It's a beautiful and heartbreaking rock star love story. I just wanted to shake some sense into those two for some of the things they did or didn't do!

And P.S. I do not want to insult the amazing author or belittle her problems - she has that same eye condition as our heroine Lennon - I was just a tiny bit mad at Lennon here and there - which I get with most characters in most books! LOL. Which is a talent of the author - to get people so invested in their inventions!

Don't mind me - nothing a rock star book does would ever make me hate rock star books!

THE GIRL IN THE FRONT ROW was a sweet and heartbreaking rock star love story.
A story about finally starting your best life with the person you were meant to be.

Oh - and if you're a tiny bit series-weird like I am ... start reading Kelsey's books chronologically, because we get lots of cameos in every book and especially here - we get Greyson and Devin a lot and they have their own amazing stories. Just read them all! ► click

Tiny little hate rant for the hero. I hate tattoos and piercings. Kelsey loves them. But I especially hate piercings in the face of a 39 year old supposedly hot guy. Ew. No. So I imagined someone completely different than how he was described. That's why it's a book and not a movie! 🤷‍♀️

And before I get a million questions about cheating et cetera. Nobody really cheats here. There might be a tiny moment - but who wouldn't want to cheat on that idiot Peter? I would've just cut him out of the book entirely - he was so horrible.
So, obviously - she was seeing someone (Peter) for a few months while Dylan didn't date around. But they were never really together together in the first place - so no cheating there either.
Ugh. Too complicated?
I'm not a fan of love triangles - but nobody could love that idiot Peter and his horrible family anyway, so I wasn't worried.
(I have to say though - it was borderline domestic abuse what Peter did or how he behaved - she should've been out of there at the first sign that he was an idiot!)

I really really loved the idea of this story. And in many ways I also loved the execution. There were moments where I felt my heart perk up and take notice, where my mind wanted to go all-in for Dylan and Lennon – I think it was the way they fit together in the whole big picture. I loved their families and I loved their friends and I loved the way those characters added this warmth and depth to a story that…sometimes really needed that.

To be fair, this isn’t my favorite sort of love story. It took a long long time for them to get together (in any kind of healthy way) and the romance part of the whole thing felt barely there. I also didn’t really feel like they were very healthy together – even as friends – most of the time. Their connection was very insta and then things immediately got very messy and…I just didn’t feel it the way I wanted to. It stressed me out. It frustrated me. But it didn’t deliver the heart-fluttering reward that I had so hoped for.

I struggled a little with the ages of these characters as well. They were in their late-20s and late-30s but acted more like they were in their early 20s In fact, much of their storyline reminded me of my own early 20s (minus the famous rockstar, obviously) but not the moments I really ever wanted to revisit. The messy moments. The moments where I struggled to figure myself out, and figure out where I fit in this world, and where I didn’t know my own worth. And while I would argue that those are important and sometimes profound experiences – there isn’t a lot of romance in them.

On its face, this story should have been everything I love. These characters were not cookie cutter characters and I live for that sort of thing. Also this famous person falls for average joe trope is a favorite of mine because it’s basically a fairytale. Only, I didn’t really feel the fairytale in this – until probably the last 5% of the book.

In the end, a compelling read, for sure, but not my favorite from this author. ~ Shelly, 3 Stars

It's always a good sign when I get to the last page of a book and look up to find I’ve been reading until 4 AM. It's an even better sign when a story has burrowed its way into my soul and psyche so much that I wake up the following morning thinking about the characters.

Out of thousands of romances, only a handful have ever done this, but Lennon and Dylan had the gears turning only five hours later when I far more would have preferred a little more shut-eye. Somehow though, they've insinuated themselves into my heart and, I suspect, will always have a place there.

You can get a feel for this story from the synopsis so I won’t rehash it here, but I love that the underpinnings of this one are characters with physical disabilities. For so many reasons. It makes them amazingly relatable, and we feel what they feel. In making us truly see them apart from any deficiencies, it educates and informs us, and it makes every success worthy of celebration. And really, isn’t that, in some way, something we all seek in life?

If you’re looking for hearts and flowers you won’t find them here, and if you’re averse to anything that nudges the line of cheating, this is your warning. These characters don’t get it right. They blunder and misstep, hurting others in the process, but they learn and grow and become a better version of self.

Most contemporary romance strives to be the warm, luxurious interior of a Rolls Royce, whereas Dylan and Lennon's story is more like the tires of the car. Tires that are threadbare and amplify every dip and bump, every pothole on the road to forever. It's a raw, messy, inelegant perfection. It's the characters' humanity and fallibility, their insecurity and mistakes, that make them evocative and compelling. We see pieces of ourselves in them and they give us hope for our own mortal existence.

In fact, Dylan and Lennon aren’t physically together for the majority of the story, but their individual, parallel paths of growth remake them into the right person for the other, and most importantly, the person they were meant to be. And finally, their time comes. But it takes that time to learn their own hearts, allow themselves grace, and accept their imperfections as an aspect of their whole rather than the defining element.

This story carries the reader alongside Lennon and Dylan on their journey to a happy ever after. It has the power to touch our lives, to make us think, make us ponder, make us imagine and make us dream. Sagacious, powerful and masterfully told, this phenomenal story sits on my list of top five reads for the year. If you’re looking for something that will profoundly touch you and live in your heart long after the last page then you won’t want to miss this one.

Loved every moment of this book, and read it well into the early morning hours! Amazing characters that go through some troubling hardships. My heart definitely bleed for them both as they navigated their newly developing relationship through some very distressing and heartbreaking times. This author’s ability to bring tears to my eyes, when reading her love stories time after time, is profoundly breathtaking.

This was an emotionally beautiful love story involving two unconditionally loving characters!

This book has one of the riskiest concepts an author could come up with. Taking parts of your own life story and your own challenges and pouring them into characters that you then release into the world requires a level of bravery and vulnerability that is awe-inspiring.

Not only does Ms. Kingsley succeed in telling us aspects of her own story, but it is also so unobtrusively and effortlessly woven into characters that already have a connection to the world of her prior books that, without the prologue, one could easily believe that this was pure fiction.

The story itself is as masterful as is typical from this author. She writes good people. Not perfect people, they are all human and have some challenges, quirks, and rough edges. But they are good people who have great families around them. People like Sebastian, Greyson, Zach, B. Davis, Devin O’Leary, & Jon – who all have cameos in this book. This book definitely works as a stand-alone, but for long-term readers there are many smiles to be had when these characters pop up throughout the book. I loved the updates about how they are all still living their HEAs.

Ms. Kingsley does a great job writing guys who have a bad boy edge, but who are deeply wholesome people who have the capacity to love faithfully and deeply. Dylan is one of those guys. He has a past, but he has also been celibate for years, and was faithful to Lennon even when she was with someone else, because he knew he loved her, he just didn’t know what to do with that for a very long time.

Dylan reminds me a little of Sebastian, in that he is kind and decent and very much loved by his parents and friends. He has seen the negative sides of the rock star world and made decisions for the benefit of people close to him. The question that he struggles with, regarding the possibility of a real future with Lennon, has echoes in decisions he has made before, but that have much greater consequences for the rest of his life. But even though there are similarities, Dylan is very much his own character and not a repeat of Sebastian. They would be great friends, but they are unique and lovable in their own way.

Dylan’s journey is emotional, but not angsty, rather it is an ongoing progression of who he is and is becoming as a human. What is consistently clear is that, despite his self-doubts about his ability to do so, Dylan is very much able to love deeply and faithfully, no matter what. It’s a unique twist on the “reformed bad boy” trope, where he questions himself, even as he is living in a way that answers every question he has about who he is now. The process and length of time over which this evolves makes it feel very authentic; there is nothing easy or instant about it, but it is beautiful.

Lennon is (obviously) not your usual romance heroine. Living with visual impairment has influenced a lot of her life and choices because of the very specific impacts of her condition. But there is much more to her than her disability. She is loved by her friends and family, which includes an awesome brother who is a great support and encouragement for her and her best friend who is cast in the series based on B. Davis’ books (loved that!!!). She’s not the “poor disabled girl” whose life is so hard until she is rescued by the hero. Like all of Ms. Kingsley’s heroines, Lennon is strong and independent and makes decisions about her life that she feels will lead to the future she has always envisioned, even though those decisions have consequences for her relationship with Dylan.

I was honestly shocked at the direction Ms. Kingsley took this story in, but I trust her with my book-nerd-heart and was not disappointed. There was some controversial stuff in this book that I normally don’t read because I just don’t like it, but it was very well written, it did make sense within the context of the story and did not in any way detract from the story. In fact, the way Dylan handled it was great. The way Lennon’s mom and friend responded was exactly what one would hope for and helped Lennon to figure out what to do next. Not everyone could write that.

I loved that there was no insta-solution to anything. The story unfolded over months and so did the resolution. Lennon was very much the master of her future. She sets out to make her dreams a reality and achieves part of her objective, but we are left hanging to see how the rest of that dream will unfold (though the fact that she is modelled after the author gives us a clue!).

Dylan’s strong, true love was tested and held strong. Their HEA was really, really good – and it left us hopeful for how they will continue to navigate their lifelong challenges together, though the challenges obviously will never be resolved. And that’s my favourite kind of ending, where we can feel really good about where they are headed, even though not every single thing is perfect and resolved.

I wish I could give this new book by Kelsey Kingsley every twinkling star in the darkest of skies, but it still wouldn't be enough. It deserves that and so much more. I read it almost straight through because, who could put this one down for any length of time? Surely, not me. I love a story like this that grabs you by your heartstrings and pulls you in just like The Girl in the Front Row did to me. Every single character shines brightly and adds something memorable to this story, except maybe one, and you know who you are! The inclusion of favorite characters and places from previous books made my heart sing with joy. How I adore rockstar romances with all that hotness, wit and charm... a sexy frontman, a couple drummers and of course, the music too!

I was entranced by brave, beautiful and wise Lennon Jacobs, born with a rare eye condition that prevents her from seeing the world like most people and makes everyday life just plain difficult. She lives in darkness and shadows, always wishing for a 'normal' life with the the world at her fingertips- independent, free and fulfilled in every way, but it's not meant to be. After a lifetime of feeling like she doesn't fit in, Lennon becomes the mysterious girl in the front row at a concert, with her lifelong rockstar crush playing larger than life right in front of her. It's a dream come true, until that moment when Dylan Pierce notices her from the stage and she looks right back at him. A connection was made and the memory of that night became truly magical.

Dylan Pierce has been to hell and back ever since a tragic accident changed his life forever. His easy going personality and former lifestyle are long gone, his ability to write music is none existant and his confidence has hit rock bottom. The band is till together, but without new music or touring, they've been fading from the spotlight for years. He's angry, in pain and about to give up when he finds a muse he didn't know he needed after 4 long years years of nothing. Things are looking up for Dylan, until his lady luck slips away into the night and takes that inspiration with her right out the door. But, Lennon has no idea how determined this rockstar can be!

Lennon and Dylan are seemingly opposites but have more common ground than they know. Neither believes in themselves much anymore and fate has given them big challenges that seem too hard to overcome. Flawed characters looking for happiness and maybe even love? They're magnetic, but getting in their own way at times with self doubt and longing warring in their heads. Could Dylan ever be the kind of man she needs and what would happen if Lennon gives into those butterflies that take flight every time they're together? Will this fascinating woman capture Dylan's jaded heart?

Kelsey Kingley poured her heart and soul into this story, taking pieces of her own personal experiences and entwining them with Lennon's to create a poignancy that hits you when you least expect it. It takes alot to bring me to tears, but between Dylan and Lennon, I had to keep those tissues handy while reading this book. Kelsey's work just gets better and more imaginative with every book she writes. I just loved how fate wove its way throughout this story, hanging around to surprise me at every turn, making me feel so much and then blowing my mind, time and time again. All those little details that make a story unforgettable were sprinkled like pixie dust exactly where they belonged, which made Dylan and Lennon seem like real people, with real problems, but also hopes and dreams, rather than just fictional characters. I know I'll still be thinking about them and all the parts I loved most about their story for a long time to come. Has Dylan Pierce knocked Sebastian Moore out of his top spot as my favorite book boyfriend in Kelsey's expansive world? Well, maybe they can hang out up on that pedestal together for now...it's just too hard to chose!

I received and early copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars

What a great book. Especially for it being the first one I've read by this author. A lot of people will say this book is long winded. But for me it's all necessary and one hell of a slow burn romance. I love a rockstar book and this was that and so much more. The subjects and disabilities discussed in this book are hard and powerful. And are handled with care and it seems to be from a lot of personal experiences and research.

This is beautiful love story. Where we see Dylan and Lennon learn and heal from just knowing each other, from becoming friends that care and from understanding. This is a story that sees both the leads coming to terms and excepting the life and load they have been dealt. It was a very hard read for me but I found it therapeutic especially in regards to me having a life changing accident at a young age myself. So like in the book the inspiration from these words makes you sit up and see that things are worth fighting for and life is worth living and to never give up hope.

I throughly enjoyed this book and won't say anymore as I won't spoil anything. Just know this is a special book. I totally recommend it and I look forward to going back and reading some of the characters from this stories books. It's just a great read.

I wanted to like this book so much. And in the beginning I was really enjoying it and I liked how the trope of falling for a rockstar, being his muse, didn't feel juvenile at all. But as the story continued it started to feel way too long and drawn out and it was making me get bored with all of the characters. In the entire book I felt like Dylan and Lennon, you know the main characters, were together for no more than 30% of the story. Dylan was constantly leaving for weeks or months, which was okay at first, but then it turned to Lennon moving on and dating someone else.

Honestly I was fine with that too, and figured it would add a good dose of angst when Dylan saw that she had moved on. But it went on way too long and it became nothing more than scenes that felt like they were there just to show that Peter wasn't the right guy for Lennon. Instead of using that time to show that Dylan is the right guy. So in the end it was a really difficult to see any type of connection between Dylan and Lennon. I loved the scenes when they were actually together but I can't even think of more than 5 times that they were. And then the ending felt really rushed since they spent the entirety of the book not as a couple only for them to finally figure their shit out, then bam epilogue. Which still didn't give a ton of closure.

I can't say I hated this book and I did enjoy the overall story if I think back on just the Lennon and Dylan story - taking out the drawn out middle parts and extra boyfriend story that went on. So maybe not my favorite book but I'll definitely give this author another try since this was my first book from her.

The Girl in The Front Row started off pretty strong for me. I loved the idea of a fan meeting their ultimate idol and then having a one night stand that isn't done in a tacky or obsessive way.
But unfortunately, that's where the strong points ended...

I struggled quite a lot with this story. I was halfway through, and i still couldn't connect with either of the mc's.
Dylan has done nothing promising and only ends up using Lennon as his muse. While Lennon is involved with another man but still thinks about Dylan. I hated the OM aspect of this story. I mean, yeah, the dude was sus, but Lennon just settled for that, which was still her choice. So her cheating on him did not make me root for Lennon and Dylan more...?! (i don't care about the severity of the cheating, ... cheating is cheating)
And i feel that they have all these feelings for each other when they've barely interacted or shared personal intimate moments. I didn't feel their chemistry at all.

The only thing i did like and feel showed a bit of uniqueness is the disability rep, specifically referring to Lennon being legally blind. I've never read about a character having this disability.
And then Dylan also has a prosthetic leg from an accident.

But sadly, it ended up being a lackluster storyline in which i felt a complete disconnect from both the story and the characters.

The Girl in the Front Row by Kelsey Kingsley is a contemporary rock star romance told in first person dual POV. The story follows the relationship between Lennon Jacobs and her rock star idol, Dylan Pierce. Lennon was born legally blind, and all she wants is to be a normal girl and live a normal life, just like everybody else. Dylan is recovering in the aftermath of an accident that left him as an amputee four years ago, unsure if he has it in him to make music again. When circumstances align and they meet, their lives will never be the same.

Holy Cow! I’m not sure how to convey how much I loved Lennon and Dylan’s story, but I’ll do my best. I hope I do it justice. Honestly, to say that I loved it is putting it mildly. It was THAT GOOD. After reading it, I took some time to let my thoughts marinate before attempting to write this review, and even now—five days later—as I think about the characters and their story, my eyes keep filling up with tears because I’m still so moved and I still feel everything so vividly as if I just finished the book moments ago.

That’s the kind of magic that happens when I read Kelsey Kingsley’s books. I’m wholly captivated by the characters, swept away by their story, and often changed by the experience. It’s transformative. And that’s how I feel about The Girl in the Front Row. I don’t think this is because of how beautifully written or well crafted the story is—which it absolutely is. I think it’s because Kelsey doesn’t just put her heart and soul into her stories; she takes it even further by sharing pieces of herself with an unfiltered vulnerability that intimately connects the reader to the characters. Their emotions and experiences ring true, because they ARE true. They’re built upon the pieces of her own personal story.

This might be my new favorite Kelsey Kingsley book. It’s hard to say for certain without reading my other favorites to compare, but it’s definitely in my top three. I’ve read them all, and they just keep getting better and better, each book reminding me why she’s one of my favorite authors. As a reader, I want to feel everything the characters feel as I experience a story through their eyes, and The Girl in the Front Row definitely delivered. It was incredibly poignant, honest, heartbreaking, relatable, witty, inspiring, and romantic. I can't rave enough. Highly recommended!

I am in awe of Kesley Kingsley. This was my first read by her. I could not believe how well written this book was. I kept reading and re-reading paragraphs because they were so well written. It left me speechless and wanting more and more. I have another one of her books on my bookshelf that I haven’t gotten around reading. Let me tell you, that book was pushed up my to be read pile.

I loved the concept of this story line. It was unique and made the reader really put yourself in someone else’s shoes that most people do not have deal with. She made the character(s) feel so real and raw. She did a fabulous job with Lennon. The relationship between Dylan and Lennon felt contentious, full of slow burn, yet on the fast track. Their friendship was sweet and full of emotion.

Kelsey made us crazy with the back and forth between Dylan and Lennon. Their connection was palpable, full of chemistry, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The angst in this book was all the angst that I love to read about. The more angst, the better!

The trajectory of their relationship wasn’t rushed, wasn’t something that you would have imagined in a rockstar romance, and I absolutely loved it. I cannot stress how well written this book was.

This hit the bookshelves on October 21st so what the heck are you waiting for?!

This book will grab ahold of your heartstrings and take you on one emotional roller coaster ride.

Lennon has a rare eye condition that prevents her from seeing the world normally. Living in a world of darkness and shadows makes life difficult and hard to fit in. Until the night she’s standing in the front row of a concert played by her rockstar crush. Their eyes meet and for once she feels seen.

Dylan has been living it up as a rockstar, until tragedy occurs. Now with the music gone and his confidence shattered, Dylan is angry and bitter no longer the easy going man he used to be. Until he meets the eyes of the girl in the front row…

Sparks fly and a connection is made, but with a host of insecurities and challenges creating self doubt, can Lennon and Dylan overcome their obstacles to find happiness?

I liked that these characters are flawed. Makes them more relatable and it’s so interesting to know that the author has the same disability as Lennon. Just an overall great story.

Remember when you were younger and you were utterly in love with a band? Remember how much you loved a particular person in that band? How you would give anything for them to notice you and fall instantly in love with you?
My teenage self is living vicariously through Lennon ; Dylan is my Danny from New Kids on the Block.

Dylan is a rock star, who at one time was on top of the world. A horrible accident left him disabled and down on himself. Lennon is his biggest fan who has a disability of her own. A beautiful journey of two shattered souls finding love and security , inspiration and hope in each other.

I am in awe of Kelsey who chose to give her character,Lennon, a piece of herself. Kelsey has achromatopisa- a visual defect -that I m sure not many people have heard of until this book. To put herself out there as raw and unrefined as she did, speaks volumes of her courage. It’s proof that nothing can keep you from doing what you love.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟5* Opposites Attract Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Girl In The Front Row was an epic and heartfelt story of love. You can feel that Kelsey Kingsley put her heart and soul into this story and especially that it is loosely based on snippets of her life and the challengers they presented.

I loved this rockstar romance because it was not your typical lead singer bad boy who drinks himself silly and sleeps his way through woman. When Dylan was at the top of his game life threw him a nasty curve ball which altered his life forever. It was so life changing that he thought he would never recover and be able to write songs and perform with his band ever again.

When Dylan lays eye on Lennon at an awards after party there is an instant pull towards her that he has not felt before. When he acts upon this feeling it is the beginning of his healing process and in Lennon’s case feeling worthy and seen for who she is.

Their journey to their HEA was slow burn. Despite their fierce attraction towards one another, their friendship and trust towards one another was what lead them to being more. They were perfect for each other and very likeable.

An enjoyable read which I highly recommend!

Kelsey Kingsley never fails to deliver and amaze me with the books she writes and this one really touches the soul! I say that as we get a glimpse of Kelseys life and the way she’s woven it into this book is truly amazing! The main characters Dylan and Lennon are as I feel characters should be depicted- real! Down to earth, have challenges to overcome and deal with daily, have humour and warmth and are just so relatable!
To open up about disability in it’s different forms is refreshing and I hope we see more.
Bringing back some of the lead characters from previous books really worked and I enjoyed the banter and humour I’d expect when they’re involved.
Lennon and Dylan’s story is a triumph- it has all the feels, makes you laugh and at times cry but gives you the feel good factor a romance reader loves.
Finally I didn’t want the book to end and even though I’ve read the extra bonus pages, I’d love to read more and more about them!

Buckle up for a ride, buttercups. Lennon and Dylan are both flawed. Both have issues. One is famous. One is…not. But maybe she is to the guy who knows he’s seen her before, but just can’t figure out where. And when they get together, the world could burn around them without them ever noticing. But Lennon wants normal, and Dylan isn’t that. She can’t get normal, average life with him. And that’s what she wants. Or so she thinks.

This one grabbed me and refuses to let go. Oddly, the chaser is the one who has the world in the palm of his hand. And the runner is the one to move on. Or try to. And even knowing that lines are crossed, it’s hard to be angry about that. Especially when you realize that the person in Lennon’s corner all along is the one man she swears she shouldn’t want. But love and friendship mean more than anything, especially when they’re the constant for both Dylan and Lennon. Add to the fact that yet again, this author has bared herself to readers for the sake of a story and you won’t want to put this one down. I have no clue how she’s able to wrap such magic into a story, but here I am. Awed at her ability to put herself out there. Impressed by the story. And a little in love with the whole idea of Dylan and Lennon.

Lennon has a rare eye condition and can only see in black and white. She can’t drive and when she tries to get a job they have no accommodations for her. Her best friend Tarryn brings her to an award ceremony and at the after party she meets Dylan freakin Pierce. Dylan can’t keep his eyes off her and thinks he knows her. After an excellent one night stand Lennon thinks she will never see him again. The next thing she know Dylan finds her and they become friends, but their chemistry is intense. Great characters and storyline. Amazing book love Lennon and Dylan. This book is about feeling bad about yourself and your disabilities and overcoming. This book is probably one of the best book I’ve read this year.

I have read few authors who tackle the real issues, the truly difficult topics, as well as Kelsey Kingsley does. The Girl in the Front Row was brilliantly written! As with Scars and Silver Linings, she has seamlessly woven her own real-life struggles into the storyline, and that alone makes this book incredibly special.

Ms. Kingsley's character development is always superb. She has given us some truly unforgettable heroes and heroines in past books, some of whom we revisit in this book and bonus epilogue. Greyson and Zach, Sebastian, Devin, Jon... She writes down to earth, genuine, flawed individuals who fight through real difficulties, with an intense love of friends and family at the forefront of their character.

As with every leading figure she has written, I was immediately drawn to Lennon and Dylan, and was captivated by their story. Lennon's legal blindness and the restrictions it has placed on her life. Dylan's accident and the loss of his leg. The enduring adoration Lennon has had for her rock star idol. The pain and adversities both of them have faced. The way they overcome these challenges, finding love, acceptance and healing with each other and their community of family and friends is incredible. GAH! I want to read this again for the first time.

This book, their story, is now one of my all-time FAVORITES, and it will not soon be forgotten, if ever. This is an incredibly powerful and deeply moving book and is some of Ms. Kingsley's very best work to date. Don't miss Lennon and Dylan's story. It is special.

I received an ARC at my request.

So I’m just gonna start off by saying I LOVED this book! It was such a lovely read and I couldn’t put it down (cue me sneakily trying to read it at work because I had to know what happens next😭) I absolutely fell in love with Dylan and Lennon not to mention all the side characters! They were all well developed with each of their stories and struggles handled delicately and expertly! This book genuinely tugged on my heart strings. It was beautifully written with an amazing plot and some pretty good spice 🌶️ I honestly cannot recommend this book enough! It’s a wholesome read that will leave you wanting a rockstar boyfriend of your own😭

Tropes: Contemporary rockstar romance, love triangle, characters with disabilities

Lennon Jacobs was born with a rare eye condition called achromatopsia. Her life exists in only black & white. She's legally blind so she can’t drive or find a job that will provide the accommodations she needs. She's weighted down by life and finds it hard to believe in her dreams. As a result, she feels like a nobody. She doesn't feel special but someone enters her life that definitely disagrees. Dylan Pierce is the lead singer of her favorite band, Angels of the Silences (love that name!) Four years ago, he suffered an accident that left his life completely altered. At an awards show after party, he looks across the crowded room and is completely taken by the beauty that just walked in. Lennon came to the awards show because her best friend was presenting an award with Dylan. When he sees her and quickly introduces himself to Lennon, she can't believe it. She makes the decision to be someone else for one night. Someone who is confident, worthy and important. After an incredible night, she sneaks out of his room. In his very limited time with her, he found his muse and begins writing music for the first time in four years but he can’t forget her. Imagine Lennon's shock when he shows up at her front door.

This book truly touched me. I've been wanting to read Kelsey's books for some time now and I love rockstar romances. Lennon's character was actually based on Kelsey, who has the same disability. As someone who also suffers from disabilities, I could relate to how frustrating it can be for others to understand that nothing is ever simple and every disability & life is different. I deeply respect her strength in basing a book character on her life. My love for Lennon and Dylan was strong but they also aggravated me. Both were stubborn and she put up with too much crap from despicable people. I would have told Peter and his family exactly what I thought. Dylan didn't know how to ask for help either. As much as I really loved their story, there was something missing. I couldn't tell you what that was. Even though I felt inspired, I felt like one good moment would have ended it beautifully. Will it stop me from continuing to read Kelsey's backlist and future books? Absolutely not. She’s a talented lady. I still highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

The Girl in the Front Row is so much more than a rockstar romance. It is a heartfelt story of learning how to love and accept yourself, finding a reason to fight through the darkness of depression, and an inside look at what it's like to live life with an invisible disability.

Lennon and Dylan's story starts off with heated passion and lust when a superfan has a one-night stand with the rock god she's been obsessed with since she was a kid. (He is 10 years older than her.) But it evolves into a fantastic, sweeping kind of epic romance. This brilliant story is full of angst, full of push and pull, involves a love triangle and a bit of emotional cheating, and so much vulnerability.

Having been born with a rare eye condition that made her legally blind, Lennon has always lived her life in a cloud of darkness. But Dylan's amputation happened when he was 35, and he has been struggling to figure out how to deal with that trauma and the blow it gave to his fragile ego. Who is he, Dylan Pierce, without his rockstar swagger? Will the sold-out crowds come back if he can't give them the energetic performances that he used to? Will he ever be able to write another song again, having been changed so dramatically on so many levels?

Dylan finds his muse in Lennon, and while it's fun at first to be dating her celebrity crush, he's not exactly a constant in her life. This story is far from one full of rainbows and unicorns, and it is a hard-earned happily ever after for this couple. Because they go through A LOT to be together. There is a ton of growing up that Dylan does in this book, and Lennon goes through a metamorphosis of her own as she fights for independence and confidence after having lived her life completely dependent on those around her.

I'm trying to not give many details away, because this story truly is inspirational, and one of a kind. Just read it. Yes, it's a story about an average girl who falls in love with her celebrity crush, and he even loves her back. But The Girl in the Front Row is so much more than that. It is really eye-opening when it comes to the struggles of people with disabilities, and I am so in awe of how Kelsey Kingsley for pouring her heart and soul into this story, drawing upon her own experiences to do so.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Dylan is Lennon’s favorite rockstar, she has a crush on him since she was a kid. Lennon is legally blind, having some site but only in b/w and not clear. She is very light sensitive. For this reason, in her late 20’s she lives a lonely life having no real sense of freedom being dependent on others for assistance. Her family and best friend are her biggest supports. Her best friend gets them front row tickets to see Dylan’s band play. Lennon had the best time. Her bestie is an actress and Lennon attends an event with her where she meets Dylan. He recognizes her but can’t place her. He never met her, but what he doesn’t remember is that he took note of her in the front row at a concert of his.

Dylan has his own struggles at almost 40. In result of a car accident he had lost a leg and is trying to succumb to walking on a prosthetic. He finds that he is interested in Lennon and more than just a one night thing which is foreign to him.

In my opinion Dylan takes Lennon for granted as he only reaches out when he needs something: a muse for writing or sex. Otherwise she’s left for weeks on end with no word from him. While they never spoke of being in an exclusive relationship, he is a bit taken back when she begins to see someone else. She knows she’s silly hoping for a normal relationship with a rockstar.

The majority of the book is Lennon trying to make it work with Peter, a “normal” man, she just can’t fully let go of Dylan who is in touch sporadically. Dylan isn’t happy about her seeing Peter, but tries to accept it but struggles. He realizes his mistake. But it’s a little too late.

In the end we get a hea but it look a long time. I did very much enjoy the book, but Peter was a casualty which didn’t have to be strung out as long as he was. Then again, he was an a$$ quite a bit so I don’t feel sorry for him!

Wow. Just wow. If Kelsey Kingsley and this book aren’t on your radar.. put them there.

There are just some stories that you read and they breathe passion and life and emotion back into your soul. They connect with you on another level.

“𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.”

From heart-wrenching to heartfelt, this book gave me all the feels. I was eager to turn page after page starting at about 11%. Told from two POVs, the passion and growth between Lennon and Dylan was addicting.

“𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙢, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙚𝙙. 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜?”

I’m simply in awe of this Author and the way she told this beautiful and deeply personal story.

𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Lennon Jacobs was born with a rare eye condition leaving her dreaming of a normal life where she doesn’t have to depend on others for nearly everything. She’s admired and loved a local band, Angels of the Silences, for as long as she can remember. When a twist of fate puts her in the sight of Dylan Pierce, the bands front runner, she decides to spend a night pretending to be normal and confident. Something she definitely isn’t, yet yearns to be. Dylan is surviving day to day until he sets his sights upon his muse. He can’t change the past but can he change the trajectory of his future? Will Lennon find the normalcy and independence she seeks?

Having read Ms.Kingsley's work many times before i always get so excited whenever i get to read more of her words! From the moment this one was announced it became an instant anticipated read of mine. I had to dive into it right away and once i did, i didn't want to turn away. I loved this story!

As soon as i read the note from the author i knew this book was going to stick with me.

Lennon and Dylan's journey absolutely hooked me! Sometimes people and moments in life can touch you in unforgettable ways, something Lennon and Dylan know all too well. As these two and their worlds collide, i couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out!

Both Lennon and Dylan were so real to me, Lennon was born with a rare eye condition which made her legally blind and Dylan is tackling with his new reality after an accident. The layers to these two characters hit this heart of mine in all kinds of ways. Both trying to find themselves, their humanness shined. They were very relatable.

Just like when i listen to one of my favorite songs, These two and their story had me going through so many emotions from start to finish! I love it when story is thought provoking and theirs sure was. Lennon and Dylan brought ALL the feels!

With The Girl in the Front Row, Ms.Kingsley has created such a refreshing and fantastic read! Through this story she tackled things i rarely find in books, that need to be written about, and that made me love it even more. Her writing is always so beautiful and unique that stays on the mind. This book left it's mark on my heart for sure!
