AgroSpheres Raises $22M in Series B Funding

AgroSpheres, a Charlottesville, VA-based provider of friendly crop health products, raised $22M in Series B funding.

The round was led by Lewis & Clark AgriFood and Ospraie Ag Science with participation from Bidra Innovation Ventures and Cavallo Ventures. As part of Series B, Larry Page, Ph.D., Managing Director, Lewis and Clark AgriFood, joined AgroSpheres Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product commercialization, expand manufacturing capacity, and seed broader applications of its AgriCell platform technology.

Led by CEO Payam Pourtaheri and CTO Ameer Shakeel, AgroSphere provides a delivery platform that makes it cost-effective to deliver oils, small molecules, and semiochemicals in the field at a reduced dose. Its patented AgriCell and AgriShell technologies enable the development of biological pesticides that have a multi-year shelf-life and high efficacy in the field.
