First love deserves a second chance...
Mark Price is a wickedly handsome, tattooed billionaire made of solid muscle. He’s content with focusing on traveling around the world, spending time with different women in every city. It’s all fine by him until he runs into the one woman to ever hold his heart.
It’s not like anyone ever forgets their first love, right?
Too bad it looks like she has no intentions of ever trusting him again. Probably because he broke her heart into a million little pieces eight years ago.
**
For Lily Maxwell, adulthood looks a lot different than the one she’d dreamed about, but she has everything she needs: an amazing daughter, a stable job that pays their bills, and wonderful friends and family who support her. She’s made peace with her past, determined to move forward.
But when her gorgeous-as-sin ex comes barreling into her life, she can’t get him out of her mind.
He makes her want to take a chance.
To believe again.
She tells herself she’s not going that road again.
Even if he does make her want to throw caution to the wind. Even if her body is covered in little electric sparks at the thought of him. Even if he’s the best sex she’s ever had.
She has to think about the one person who matters the most to her - her daughter, Violet.
Being a single mother isn’t easy, and the billionaire playboy is definitely not the father material.
Is Lily a fool to let a second chance at happily ever after pass her by?
But what happens if following her heart turns out to be her biggest mistake of all?

Mark and Lily’s journey was heartwarming yet heartbreaking at some parts. It was well written, filled with romance, betrayal and drama.
Nice read, it just didn’t sweep me off my feet... 🤷🏻‍♀️

So in my last review for The Damaged Hearts Duet I ended with:

“Hopefully we visit Mark and Nina maybe sometime soon!”

I got my wish! Well sort of….

Mark is swept up in all the feels of his brother’s wedding and decides maybe it’s time to take the next step with his on/off again bed buddy. Before taking the leap Nina surprises him with her condition: he must revisit his past before he can start his future.

Having never closed the door on his first love Mark seeks her out after years of trying to forget and well this is their story of first love, fracture hearts and the roads travelled. As always this author weaves emotion and hard issues throughout her passion filled pages. Creating scrumptious characters and a world of love and pain in equal measure. Life throws curve balls and the characters do what they can to find their happiness. This story was captivating with the added bonus of catching up with some familiar faces from the previous duet. I thoroughly recommend not only this story which can be read as a standalone but to first meet the equally delicious brother who has his own duet 🖤

A five star meant to be read.

REVIEW 💋
Ugh I'm in LOVE with 'Mr. First Love' by Emily Krat.

Mark Price and Lily Maxwell are officially one of my favorite second chance couples. The novel was so well written it hit all the right spots. It was sweet, heartwarming, cute, and steamy. This is definitely a must read! I promise you won't regret it.

All the characters in this novel 'visibly' grow from their pasts and make reasonable decisions. I must add that my favorite character has to be Alice. She's the best friend we all wish we had (or already have).

There isn't much I want to say about the plot except the fact that I loved it. Sometimes, in second chance romances specifically, there will be some past conflict that is magically fixed and overlooked. Which I personally don't like. So I'm happy to say 'Mr. First Love' isn't like one of those books. Emily Krat has skillfully left no loose ends. Woohoo!

"It'll never be over between you two. From the moment he saw you, he was f-d. You both were."

People say that you'll never forget your first love. Mark and Lily met when they were teenagers at Kingswood Academy. Mr. First Love is a second-chance romance that shows both the past and present.

Eight years is a long time to hold on to someone. But some people impact you in a way that shapes you into who you are in the present. Life goes on. Everything is normal, and you're living your life as if everything is okay. Then suddenly, something reminds you of them, and it isn't easy to move on when it does.

Mark is misunderstood. When he was younger, he acted out to get his father's attention, but it didn't work. He longs for a family. Longing for a parent's attention isn't rare. When you're a child, you want your parents' attention and would do anything to get it. Mark has gotten to a point in his life where he wants to settle down. He's lonely and wants a partner. But everyone assumes Mark isn't 'boyfriend'/'husband' material. He has this reputation that followed him throughout his life that he can't seem to shake. Once someone has this perceived notion about you, it's not easy to change it. You'll always be that way in their eyes.

After Lily's parents' divorce, her life was uprooted. Her father sends her to Kingswood Academy, a boarding school in London. The move to London was meant for her to be closer to her mother, but it made no difference. Years later, she became a single mother vowing not to be like her mother. Violet is Lily's whole world; every decision she's made has been for Violet. Life never goes as planned. Dreams change. You can want something, but life can take you on a different path.

There was a scene that felt like deja vu. I can't put my finger on where I read it before. I was uncertain if it was an excerpt from Mr. First Love or a completely different book.

Mr. First Love reminds me of my Wattpad era, and I mean that as a compliment. It took me back to middle/high school, at least the good memories. Reading Mr. First Love was an emotional ride. I wanted more of Violet. I hope that she will have her own story. I can't wait to read about the other characters in their books!

Sweet emotional single mom rom

3.5 Stars
If you’re looking for something extremely sweet, with a dash of steam, and a hot billionaire tattooed Cinnamon Roll Hero, this one's for you.

I really liked how sweet Mark was. Big tattooed bad boy on the outside, but a sweet gentle soul on the inside. He really hung in there trying to prove he wasn’t the same guy and that Lily was his one, Violet too. He will def make your chest twinge at the regret he holds for hurting Lily and not being with her, for wasted years. His tattoo story! Not a dry eye here. **Swoon** So much love!!

Want a taste of what you’ll get with this Rom??

“Lily, I’m yours. I always have been and always will be. So please don’t make me wait another eight years for a kiss. But I would. I’d wait for you forever.” -Mark

This is a second chance, single parent rom. There are some dark themes in regards to both Mark and Lily’s past. Lily is a beautiful soul and awesome mom. Love reading strong women making the best of bad situations.

I really liked this story. It was sweet, emotional, and satisfying to read. I liked the HEA. Good writing and storytelling. Some of the style choices through me for a loop.

3rd person POVs of Lily and Mark, while they were younger.
Switches back to 1st person dual POV Mark/Lily in present (I wish is just stood this way. I am not a fan of 3rd person).
Steam is a 2/5. The scene where they get back together was the hottest of them all. I wanted more Mark! He was too delicious to not have more of him in the bedroom.

Mr. First Love is the second chance story of Mark & Lily, who met & fell in love as teenagers until he decimated her heart completely. Mark is a complicated man who no one really takes seriously, and these days he's very lonely. Lily has gone through the fire since they broke up, and instead of it breaking her, she's all the stronger for it. She's a single mother whose main focus is giving her daughter the best life possible & she's a great mother, but things take a turn when she runs into Mark again out of the blue (or was it fate?). This story really hurt my heart throughout, and while I did feel for Mark, it took me a minute to actually fall for him because of his actions. The moment he sees Lily again, he knows he wants a second chance with her, but convincing her to trust him is no easy task, and I didn't blame her, especially since she has a daughter to think about. Emily Krat tells their story from the past to the present seamlessly so we get the full picture & it made it all the more emotional for me, and I believe it will do the same for you as well so you know what to do! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A complicated story about love, forgiveness and forever. Sometimes people make decisions with the best of intentions, but they don’t turn out how they imagined they would. Mark and Lily had a special bond and relationship as teenagers, but when a series of unexpected events occur, feelings are hurt and they drift apart for almost a decade. Crossing paths again leads to an explosion of feelings for them both and what follows is an emotional journey to a HEA neither one ever dreamed they could have!

This book features Mark, little brother to Ryan from the Damaged Hearts Duet; I didn’t read the duet before reading this book and didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

This is a second chance romance between Mark and Lily who were high school sweethearts. I really wanted to like this book, but it just fell a little flat for me. Mark and Sophie seemed a little too swoon worthy and honestly the big “incident” didn’t seem that drastic for all the fall out, but that’s just my opinion. I mean they don’t see each other for 10 years and then suddenly they love each other again.

I will say it was a bit unusual that Mark only reconnected with Lily because Nina, his almost girlfriend, advised him to, before they started a real relationship. Needless to say, Nina did not get the better end of the deal, but she was right to tell him to check his unresolved feelings first.

It was just missing something for me or too easy of a reconciliation. It was like the big conflict already took place and the majority of the book was the aftermath. I did like that they both had other “relationships” over the decade they were apart, instead of one dating and other waiting. We don’t get an epilogue that shows Mark and Lily later on, to see how their lives entwined.

Apparently, they will be books on Alice (Lily’s bestie), Nina (Emilia’s bestie) and Jacob (Emilia’s brother).

Mark and Lily's story was one of second chances, rekindling young love, and learning to trust again. Mark and Lily were young and in love until one day something happened that pushed them apart. Eight years later fate pushed them together but the time and distance has Lily not trusting Mark when he finds her to apologize for his mistake. Lily decides that to be able to move on for herself and her daughter she needs to find him and accept his apology but when the past starts to unravel their relationship starts to pull them back together.

This is a beautiful love story with so much emotion that it will melt your heart. This second chance, friends to lovers story will have you craving a Mark of your very own.

What a great couple

I knew after reading My Lucky Mistake, where we meet Mark, that he needed his own story. I was so glad to have gotten it here in Mr First Love. Mark is more than just a pretty face. He is smart, warm, sensitive, loving, loyal and after having a horrible excuse for a father and his upbringing in general, he deserved someone as beautiful and loving as Lily. They met as teens in boarding school and almost instantly fell hard for each other. Life took a turn and tore them apart for years. Well good thing for second chances, because these two deserved a do over. I loved this couple and the extra sweet part was Lily’s little daughter Violet. Great job Emily Krat!!!

This is a beautiful second chance romance. This is a heartfelt story of first love. Mark's backstory broke my heart. What he went through is just terrible which makes what he has with Lily all the more special. Though is bit of a journey to reconnect because there is a lot of hurt that needs healing on both sides. Lily's daughter Violet is precious and full of sass. This was a book I easily got lost in. The characters just pulled me right in. We get glimpses of these two in their past to better understand their whole journey. Then the end of this one made me so happy and left me with a huge smile on my face. It was the perfect touch for this little family.

This book is a bit of a whirlwind. Teenage lovers have a disastrous heartbreak leaving them to not see each other for 8 years. The MMC decides he needs to see the woman who’s heart he broke years ago and apologize before he can move on with another woman but is awestruck by just how much he still wants her. The FMC has never stopped loving him but she had developed trust issues and now with a daughter of her own she doesn’t think she’ll ever love again. The two start down a bumpy road of past secrets, rediscovery of who they are now and try to rebuild destroyed trust in order to claim their once lost love.

Outstanding!

Another author, in a newsletter, recommended this book! So glad I took a chance with a new author as I am a " picky" reader of 75 years doing it! Sweet, tender story of young live tragically detailed . Both Mark and Lily suffer unbelievable experiences and hurt, emotionally and physically. Fate sends then back to each other, under difficult circumstances but their love, though dormant for 8 years, still exits! Story is heartbreaking, tearful, sweet, and funny. You will be with them as they acknowledge their love and have the courage to let it blossom!

Family

Every time I read any of Emily's books there always a beautiful story about family. Family that we are related to by blood and then the bonds of friendships we have that we consider those people family.
This book was a past/present story whereas the characters reflect on their early experience to where they are now.
Absolutely enjoyed this story. If you are looking for something sweet and romantic this will a good choice.

A lot of heartbreak. A second chance is a hard one to get back together. And with secrets, they have to come out in the end.

In attempting to make a go at a real relationship with his current fwb, Mark finds he's never let go of his first love, Lily. Trying to gain Lily's forgiveness, though, means Mark will have to confront his past. Will Lily ever forgive him, and give him a second chance to prove their love has never faded?

Lily has moved on from her first love. She's a single mother to the world's most adorable daughter, she's a paralegal in law school, and she has the best best friend. But when her first love approaches her out of the blue attempting to apologize and get some closure, she's thrown. She never thought she'd see Mark again and had accepted that he hadn't truly loved her back in boarding school. But now things are all upside down. Now, thanks to her best friend's urging, she has to go confront Mark to obtain her own closure. But will all those old feelings flare up again? Will she give Mark the second chance and forgiveness he is seeking?

Oooh there's some pain in this story. Mark's backstory was a bit heartbreaking, almost as much as Lily's was. I hurt for them both, and was just cheering them on as they finally obtained the second chance that was obviously what they both wanted. For a tattooed billionaire, Mark is not the dominant jerk I had been expecting. Instead, he's downright swoony as he gently and impatiently woos Lily and Violet. Talk about a hot cinnamon roll!! Lily is the kind of mother we all love to read about, all wish we had - strong, selfless, and loving. She is definitely #singlemomgoals. She and Mark and Violet make for a wonderful made family, and I loved reading as they fell back in love and found happiness.

First love deserves a second chance.
Mark Price is wickedly handsome, tattooed billionaire made of solid muscle. He's content and focusing on traveling around the world, spending time with different women in every city. It's all fine by him until he runs into the one woman to ever hold his heart. It's not like anyone ever forgets their first love, right? Too bad it looks like she has no intentions of ever trusting him again. Probably because he broke her heart into a million pieces eight years ago.
For Lily Maxwell, adulthood looks a lot different than the one she'd dreamed about, but she has everything she needs: an amazing daughter, a stable job that pay their bills, and wonderful friends and family who support her. She has made peace with her past, determined to move forward. But when her gorgeous-as-sin ex comes barreling into her life she can't get him out of her mind.He makes her want to take a chance. To believe again. She tells herself she's not going down that road again. Even if he does make her want to throw caution to the wind. Even if her body is covered in little electric sparks at the thought of him. Even if he's the best sex she's ever had. She has to think about the one person who matters the most to her-her daughter Violet. Being a single mother isn't easy, and the billionaire playboy is definitely not the father material. Is Lily a fool to let a second chance at happily ever after pass her by? But what happens if following her heart turns out to be her biggest mistake of all?

Mark Price is a billionaire who his perfectly happy with the life he lives travelling the world and never getting attached to any of the many women he has been with. However the last person he ever expects to run in to is his first love Lily Maxwell. That run in will change his life forever in more ways than he can imagine. Eight years ago he broke her heart into a million pieces and she has never been able to forget that and will never trust him. Plus she has a life she never expected to have. . An amazing daughter she is raising. A stable job that pays all her bills. A very supportive family and friends that make her life complete. However the last person she ever expected to see again is Mark and when she does see him again she cannot get him out of her head. He wants a second chance and she isn't so sure that he would make good father material. After all Violet is her life now and she has to consider her in every decision she makes.
This is a great book. It is a second chance romance between first loves. I liked Mark, I just wish that his one hundred and eighty degree turn around would have been a little better or more easy to believe. I don't know why I feel that way about it. But I do and that kept this book from being a five star read for me. I did however love the way he was with Violet. I loved Lily and the woman has really been through things in life that I don't know that I would have been able to get through. She's a strong woman and an absolutely amazing mother. If you like second chance romances then you are going to like this book.

Handsome billionaire Mark Price is content with his life travelling the world and not getting attached to any of the many women he sleeps with. Lily Maxwell's life is nothing like she imagined years ago. Instead, she has an amazing daughter, a stable job, wonderful friends and a supportive family. Having made peace with her past when her gorgeous ex comes back into her life like she can't get him out of her mind. He wants her to give him a second chance but she has to think about her daughter Violet now. Has he changed enough and is she brave enough to give him a chance?

I mostly enjoyed this story starting with the way they fell in love, the breakup, the meeting and the reconciliation. What happened between them and then to Lily was tragic but she had come through it and so I could understand her hesitancy when he showed up out of the blue asking for a second chance. I did find the major about-face by Mark a little hard to believe but the way he handled Violet was sweet. The writing was good and everything was easy to read, feel and understand. The way it finished was great and their reconciliation definitely pulled at the heartstrings.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In this story we meet Mark, who is an awesome friend but a bit of a playboy. He is ready to settle down though after seeing his friends find love and he has the perfect woman but before she commits to just him, she asks him to make sure that he is over the woman that was his first love.

This forces Mark to track down his first love, Lily. At first, she turns him away but after rethinking it she decides she needs to move on as well and that's when these two forgive each other and decide to move on.

But the heart wants what the heart want...can these two find a way back to each other? And Lily and Mark are very different than they were as teens and young adults and what about Lily's daughter?

This was an absolutely awesome romance and story. It is not lighthearted so get ready for a very emotional read. I also really loved that there is no real drama but it's more a story about moving forward and about forgiveness and love.

I really LOVED this story so much. It was told in duel POV, and I really adored Mark and how deep he loves, and I loved Lily as well. She is one very strong woman and I loved how she dealt with her past.

Lily's father was also awesome, and she was so lucky to have him. Mark's brother and sister-in-law were also wonderful, and I loved how welcoming they were with Lily.

Mark and Lily are what would be considered high school sweethearts. They met in boarding school. She was the new girl and he the troublemaker, along with his friends. At first, Lily wasn’t interested nor was she happy to be attending this school. After some time of Mark and Lily dating things took a turn. For the worst. Both of them have secrets that they reveal to each other ten years later when they reunite.

Mark is CEO of his father’s company; Lily is studying law and is a single mom. Her dad is not Mark’s biggest fan but, Violet - Lily’s daughter - adores him. There’s a lot that went down in their past. There’s a lot to navigate now in their future. Both of them are different people to some extent and learning about each other is different now.

Despite being so behind with reading other ARCs still, this book was worth the read! Thank you so much for the copy Emily Krat! ❤️

when i was contacted and asked if i’d like to be part of the ARC review process for this book, one look at the summary had me filling the form out so fast! second chance romance? single parent trope? rich male love interest? SIGN ME UP! and i wasn’t disappointed!

this book was really cute! Mark and Lily’s love was pure and genuine. you could really tell that they loved each other. do i wish there had been a little more drama? sure. but that’s more so because i’ve learned that i love dramatic romance books.

this book gave me major Sunshine x Sunshine vibes, which i wasn’t used to because i seem to be a firm Grumpy x Sunshine reader, but i didn’t dislike it!

the parts with Violet, Lily’s daughter, were so cute! and the ending was so good!

the spice was well written and had a poetic feel to it. and i loved the flashbacks to when they were in school. this book was pretty fast paced, and a quick read!

all in all, this book was well written and definitely a good read, but just didn’t have that extra dramatic feel that i love in my books. i definitely recommend reading it if you want a sweet and easy going, second chance love story!

I’m not usually a huge second chance romance fan but I gave this book a shot and I’m so glad I did.

Lily and Mark had me in a chokehold from the very beginning of this book to the very last page. Once lovers in HS Lily and Mark are now adults trying to figure out how to move on from their heart breaking break up all those years ago. Focused on trying to move on and get closer Mark and Lily see one another again in hopes of closing that chapter in their lives but what they realize pretty quickly is that their feelings are still very real and the heartbreak still very fresh and they’re not ready to close this chapter yet.

Mark and Lily had dreams and aspirations and that all came tumbling down and it forced them into very different life paths. Lily’s now a single mom just focused on being there for her daughter while Mark is working for his dads company and incapable of relationships until Lily comes back into his life and turns his world upside down. These two were always meant to be together and learning why they broke up hurt my heart because they both deserved so much more than what they got. I loved seeing Lily make Mark work for her affections but also fight for their second chance at a HEA. Loved this story and these two incredible characters.

Mr. Frist Love is a wonderful second chance romance from the prologue, which set this couple's story up perfectly to the flashbacks throughout their spine-tingling journey to their HEA, Emily Krat wrapped us up in a mesmerising bubble.

Mark and Lily met 10 years ago at 17 when they were in boarding school in England, the attraction was instant, but two years later and the world came crashing down, and Mark broke Lily's heart, he spent the rest of those years travelling and working, with Lily never far from his thoughts, but now its time to move on but you have to put the past behind you before you can embrace the future but, Mark was not prepared for what happened when he confronts his past. Single Mom Lily to adorable but sassy 6-year-old Violet also was not prepared for the man who crashed her heart to walk back into her life after eight years or to feel the things she does, but maybe closure is what both of them need, but what happens when closure is not what they both want?

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: single mom, second chance, billionaire, tattoed, friends to lovers

I was amazed how much I could like this book. I devoured this book in two days!

This love story is a beautiful one that melts your heart from the first chapters.

Lily and Mark's story begins when they were teenagers at Kingswood Academy, in London. They both had a plan after their school years were over, but certain parts of their lives took them on different paths. That is until, after 8 years, Mark finds Lily in a cafe.

Mark is a handsome, tattooed billionaire, but also misunderstood. He lived his life to the fullest, but his thoughts were always on one woman, which is Lily.

Lily is a strong, determined woman whose focus is always on her little girl, Violet. The two have such a beautiful mother-daughter relationship!! When Mark re-entered her life, at first she was reluctant, but at Mark's insistence and sweet gestures, she gave up and eventually resumed the relationship with him, but now with small baby steps.

Violet, Lily's daughter, has a nice and beautiful relationship with Mark. She wins Mark from the first meeting, and ends up having him around her little finger.

Thank you Emily Krat for sending me this ARC! I can't wait to see what else you prepare for us!!

"Emily Krat is a new romance author for me, after reading Mr. First Love, I need to read everything she has, this book was amazing.

Mark Pierce is the ultimate book boyfriend, he’s handsome and rich and quite the ladies man. But running into his first love was not was he was expecting. Lilly Maxwell, her life is nothing like she wanted and hoped for years ago, she has come to terms and is making the best for her and her daughter. For her running into Mark was not was she was expecting. And, the way he cared for Violet is what made me love his character even more.

A wonderful second chance at a first love, with a roller coaster ride that is totally worth it in the end.

An emotional second chance, first love story. Mark and Lily fell into an easy love when they were at boarding school but circumstances of life sent them in opposing life trajectories. This story takes a journey from past to present to fight for love. Mark is really swoony as he woos Lily to give him a chance for her and her daughters hearts. This was an easy fast read with lots of feels. ~Cindy

Mr. First Love By Emily Krat

Is a second chance romance, friends to lover, single mom story of Lily and Mark love story that starts of when they were younger at Kingswood Academy, in London. They say forever but, what happens when things change? Eight years later fate pushes them together will Lily forgive Mark for breaking her heart, will she be able to trust him again or will she decide not to give him a second chance?

Mark Price is a handsome, tattoo billionaire who is misunderstood. He focuses on traveling, spending time with different women, but only one woman holds his heart.

Lily Maxwell dreamed about a fairy tale life with happy ending, but adulthood looks different then the dream she had plan with the man she loves, but even if adulthood wasn’t so kind she still had everything she needed: an wonderful daughter name Violet, a stable job that pays her bills, a wonderful friend and family that supports her. Trying to make peace with her past and move forward with her life.

This a beautiful love story of two wonderful people with a beautiful connection that just melts your heart. If you love second chance romance, friends to lovers, this book for you. 💕💕

This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because if Mr. First Love is anything to go by I will love all her other works. This is single mum Lily Maxwell and Mark Price’s (her first love) second chance at love and boy is this a swoon worthy, captivating read.
Lily will always put her daughter Violet first and that means keeping the man she shared so many firsts with at arms length. Mark is certainly going to have a fight on his hand proving he is worth taking a leap of faith because he knows he will always catch her but does she…..
This is a journey that is fill of ups and downs, its full of twists and turns but its also about rediscoveries, its about all those firsts, its about trust, it’s about healing and more importantly it’s about love. I fell hard and fast for Mark, I as doted on Lily but it was Violet who at times stoke the show and my heart. This is heartfelt romance that is beautifully written and I highly recommend to all romance lovers. One click this gem you wont be disappointed.

“I still think about you”
“All the time. Every single day. And seeing you today…”
“Do you ever think about me?”

A love story full of a lot of emotions! As teenagers it was love at first sight for Mark when he ran into Lily. They both had a troubling childhood which they bonded over, became friends, and fell in love. They had dreams and wanted to conquer the world together. My heart broke for Mark for what he went through and when he thought he was doing what was right for the both of them, he ended up hurting them. Lily is so strong and a great mama. That poor girl had her heart broken, faced trauma, still came out on top and had her baby girl. I liked that Mark was given the push he needed to face his past with Lily. When they finally reunited I enjoyed how honest they were with each other. I did feel like they moved quickly at first but there were a lot of emotions and feelings that couldn’t be ignored. They always heard eachother out when they had the tough talks and I feel like that made their bond stronger which I enjoyed. The bond between Violet and Mark was so sweet.
