This 1988 BMW M5 was refurbished and modified over a period of several years under previous ownership, and it sold on BaT in May 2019 prior to being acquired by the selling dealer in 2022. Work included a repaint in black, fitting black leather upholstery, an overhaul of the cylinder head for its 3.5-liter inline-six, and a rebuild of its five-speed manual transmission. Modifications consist of CAtuned coilover suspension, 17″ Style 5 wheels, and a cat-back exhaust system as well as European-specification bumpers, valances, and front lighting. The car is also equipped with air conditioning, power-adjustable front seats, a sunroof, and a cassette stereo. This E28 M5 now shows 127k miles and is offered by the selling dealer in Texas with a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.

The exterior was repainted between 2014 and 2015, at which time the rear window, moldings, kidney grilles, and weatherstripping were replaced. Exterior modifications include European-specification valances, bumpers, and front lighting, and the car is also equipped with a sunroof and a rear spoiler. Chips are noted on the hood, rear spoiler, and fuel filler door as well as below the left taillight.
