“And we prescribed for them in it, Life for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth, and retaliation for injuries. But whoever forgoes it, this will be expiation for him. Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such people are wrongdoers.” (Qur’an 5:45)
This can create a cycle of revenge and retaliation that never ends.
“Eye-For-An-Eye Sharia Law Returns To Afghanistan Courts,” Agence France-Presse, December 21, 2022 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Ghazni, Afghanistan: Kneeling in front of a turbanned judge in a tiny room at the Ghazni Court of Appeal in eastern Afghanistan, an old man sentenced to death for murder pleads for his life.
The 75-year-old admits to having shot dead a relative — out of revenge, he says, because of rumours he had sexual relations with his daughter-in-law.
Under eye-for-eye sharia punishments, officially ordered by the Taliban’s supreme leader for the first time last month, he faces public execution — with the sentence to be carried out by a relative of his victim.
“We have made peace between the families,” the old man pleads.
“I have witnesses who can prove that we have agreed on compensation.”
AFP had rare access to a court in Ghazni to see how sharia justice is being administered since the Taliban returned to power in August last year….
Islamic law, or sharia, acts as a code of living for Muslims worldwide, offering guidance on issues such as modesty, finance and crime. However, interpretations vary according to local custom, culture and religious school of thought.
Taliban scholars in Afghanistan have employed one of the most extreme interpretations of the code, including capital and corporal punishments little used by most modern Muslim states.
The difference between the system of the former government and today “is as big as the earth and the sky”, says Mohiuddin Umari, head of the Ghazni court, between sips of tea.
– ‘God guides us’ –
Officials in Ghazni have shunned the use of its formal Western-style courtroom, and proceedings instead take place in a small side room, with participants sitting on a carpeted floor.
The cramped room, heated by an old wood stove, has a bunk bed in a corner, on which religious books and a Kalashnikov rifle are placed.
The young judge, Mohammad Mobin, listens impassively before asking a few questions.
He then orders another hearing in a few days — giving the old man time to gather witnesses who can testify that the families have agreed to what he says.
“If he proves his claim, then the judgement can be revised,” Mobin says.
If not, “it is certain that the qisas (an eye-for-an-eye) enshrined in the sharia will apply”….
Ghazni court head Umari insists the sharia system is much better than the one it replaced, even while conceding that officials need more experience.
Afghanistan was ranked 177th out of 180 of the most corrupt states in 2021 by the NGO Transparency International and its courts were notorious for graft, with cases held up for years.
“The Islamic Emirate is showing transparency,” says Umari, using the Taliban’s designation for Afghanistan.
Many Afghans say they prefer their chances in sharia courts with civil cases, arguing they are less prone to the corruption that bedevilled the system under the previous Western-backed government….

Primitive garbage, but that is all that islam seems to be. People should be embarrassed to be part of any religion that thinks that human beings should live the way 7th century Arabs used to live even though most of the human race has moved on to living a civilised, post-Enlightenment modern life. It is such a weird mentality that the people in Afghanistan have since they do seem to have wanted to go back to living the primitive hardline Muslim lifestyle, which they now are living.

Agreed Tim. It’s because of the cowardice and weakness of our leaders to stand up for freedom and women, that these savages are back.
This also increases the likelihood of another 9/11, forcing us to return to finish the job that the Dems were too afraid of doing.

One thing is for sure, Fitna, Afghanistan is going to be a primitive hellhole for anyone who lives there from now on. But the taliban’s type of pure, knuckle dragging islam is maybe what most of the Afghanis wanted anyway. These countries seem absolutely hopeless to me and I’m not sure anyone can help the backward people there to lead a more civilised type of life because they really don’t want to do so. The people just seem to want to go on living like 7th century Arabs.

Agreed. So sad that the left doesn’t say anything. No rights for women, homosexuals, etc etc.
Power is all they want, and at the same time they destroy themselves.

Relative having sexual relations w/ his daughter-in-law? I thought that that was allowed in islam. In India, there were some videos of Hindu women who converted to islam and married muslims but later left b’cos they were being pimped around to their husband’s family members – brother, father, uncle, cousin… In fact, that’s one of the arguments in India that the campaign against ‘Love Jihad’ (better term: muslim trafficking): that the ex-Hindu girl won’t be in a monogamous marriage like in any Hindu household, but will be pimped around for the enjoyment of other family members
Wasn’t the man about to be executed aware about the hadiths about Muhammad & Zainab? I daresay the Taliban is executing him for the wrong reason: they should be executing him for his unislamic punishment of that relative who was doing what was about as legit in islam as bacha-bazi
Note that this is not an endorsement of the pimping or the adultery by me: I’m just pointing out what is halal in islam, and why muslims shouldn’t expect any better if they chose to remain within that cult

Afghanistan: Eye-for-an-eye Sharia penalty returns to the courts

This savagery does not surprise. We all knew this was coming. There is no “Taliban 2.0”.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Taliban 2.0 is backwards compatible w/ Taliban 1.0: just like Windows 11 is backwards compatible w/ Windows 10

Didn’t see that one coming, Infidel!
Made me chuckle…

I am always wary of those who speak for God, regardless of the religion, and Im not saying there is not God but that who among has the right to speak upon its behalf.
These people are really bat shit insane, totally lacking in compassion for anybody,or anything, and yet Old Joe in his lacking of understanding wants to send these savages even more money so they will not call us nasty names, while the Marines that fought these morons sleep on the streets across America, or at least are having a hard time in life…
