Food, Wine + Travel Writer, Award Winning Author & Culinary Activist
I am second generation Canadian born Italian with a natural passion for all things that come on a plate or in a glass. Throughout my career as a food writer I’ve travelled to explore the home-grown foods of the world enjoying countless delectable dishes along the way. I’ve sniffed out the finest wines from dusty dark cellars, eaten from roadside stands, village delis, the finest restaurants with postage stamp sized kitchens and have enjoyed many a meal in people’s homes. For me, food and wine is a delicious way to communicate and get to know the people of a region.
I started my career at Inniskillin Wines before moving on to work with the best chefs of the region. I wrote a weekly food column for the regions largest newspaper, The Standard. It was called, Just a Taste, I write about food and wine for magazines and was culinary host for CHCH-TV’s, Niagara Express for many years.
I’ve authored a few international award-winning books. The first Niagara Cooks, from farm to table won ‘Best Local Food Cookbook in Canada’ (Gourmand Cookbook Awards, Paris) and went on to win Silver Medal for ‘Best Local Food Cookbook in the World’. I’m trying to work on my fourth book while travelling the world in search of the best foods I can find. Life is as good as it is delicious.
My mission is to increase your passion for food, or better put, letting your palette lead the pleasures in your life. I’ve learned that food is the one common denominator that brings people together regardless of language or any other barrier. At the same time, food reflects the distinct identities of various cultures around the globe.
