And if it’s so wrong, well then, I don’t wanna be right 😭.
Reviewing this book’s gonna be tough. I don’t ever think I really say this- but this is the kind of book that is best read blind, but I also understand people that NEED info, so I’ll do my best.
My review will not do this book justice 🤷🏻♀️😭
The book opens up in the present with giving us a glimpse of what Piya’s (34) married life to Jay (51) has been (they’ve been married for over 13 years now). They’re attending a party her best friend Jordan’s throwing. Jay owns a hedge fund and needs to make connections, so going to these parties will allow that to happen. The owner of the mansion can’t keep his eyes off of her, which makes sense since Axel/Zane (35) is no stranger to Piya.
In fact, they’ve known each other for almost 14 years now 👀…
And he’s not gonna give her up again 😅.
14 years before, Piya’s brother was getting married. Because Piya has the most horrible experiences with boyfriends and what they’ve done to her/her family (the last one stole from them all), they want her to clean up her act and become a more appropriate young lady, stop dating “losers” and maybe settle down. Because she’s Indian, there are expectations of what she’s supposed to wear and how she’s supposed to act.
She didn’t follow the instructions on what to wear for the ceremony/reception and gets reprimanded for it- in fact, her brother basically tells her that she’s uninvited from the wedding 😒. Consequently, she isolates herself, trying to not cause attention to herself.
Except, one man can’t help but stop looking at her, Axel 👀.
Because she wants to get all the “rebelliousness” out of her system, she creates a bucket list for the weekend; starting Monday, she’s gonna become proper and make better decisions, but for now, she’ll get these out of her system.
And Axel decides to join her 😉
What I loved: potential spoilers
—how OTT obsessed Axel is 🥰. Look. I know and am aware of how tooooxic this can be, but… I. DON’T. CARE 🤣. Axel’s so obsessed, so swoony, so invested in Piya that I couldn’t help but be a little (or a lotta 🤣) bit jealous 😒. This man doesn’t like anyone touching her- security guards, women, blankets (okay, joking about the blankets, but you get what I’m saying). Shoot, if someone gets too close, he’s growling louder than a pit Bull. He’s O. B. S. E. S. S. E. D!
—the 🔥. I mean. Axel sees, Axel wants, Axel gets 💅 and he only wants Piya 🥹. Axel can get down and duuuurty when it comes to her 🥵. He’s completely enamored with everything her. He’s not gonna let any obstacle get in his way 🤷🏻♀️
—the swoony parts. Can a sociopath be swoony? I don’t know, but Axel made me cry 😭. This man that came out of nothing brought tears to my eyes 🥹😩. If I could bottle him up and keep him, I would 🥹
—the connection to Piya’s culture ❤️
—Axel’s audacity 😈. This man gets extra points for this 🤣. How dare he?!?!? 👀 muahahahahaha 😈I made me laugh 🤣

—the Gatsby retelling. Look, I’ve read this book MANY times, I’ve taught it MANY times, so for this to be a huuuge part of the storyline had my heart pumping with glee 🥰🥹😭❤��
—I cried 😭❤️. I know I’m an emotional reader, but the fact that I cried for more than one character is very telling on how well-written this was ❤️
What I wanted more of:
—more 🔥. I know. I’m selfish 😭
—an epilogue 😭😩. I needed more! Yes, it’s an HEA, but… but… I wanted more of the HEA 😭. Many will say that it ends "perfectly," but... but... but I just wanted more 😂 LOL
Overall, I loved this ❤️ and it's a book that will stay with me forever 😭

Told in alternating timelines, we meet Piya as a young woman with a wild streak and again as a married 30-something.
Before settling down to make her family proud, she has one final night of rebellion, during which she meets the intense and charismatic Axel.
This is a book you’ll want to dive into blind. Nothing went the way I expected and I’m immensely glad I went out of my comfort zone to read a trope/trigger I’d normally avoid like the plague. Suffice it to say, not everything is as it appears.
Because I’m me, I would have liked a little more spice. However, I was engrossed in the story regardless and am looking forward to Fatal Obsession.

3.5 Bucketlist Stars ⭐
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️/5
Once again, I find myself in a tug-of-war with my feelings about a book. On one end, I enjoyed the story, captivated and managed to read it in basically one sitting—I was that engrossed. However, on the other end, I can't shake the feeling of a slight emptiness in the story, as if it lacked a layer of something or a bit more depth.
This is a Great Gatsby-inspired story, and my knowledge about the tale is limited to the Leo D movie I watched years ago. All I know is that the man is obsessed with a woman he can't have, and boy, did this book portray that aspect very well.
Right from the start, there's a warning that this is NOT a Romance Novel and not to be a Karen and complain (yes, that part was about the triggers, but I'm extrapolating the sentiment)... However, the fact that it isn't a romance novel from the start doesn't detract from the missing aspect, and it might be exactly what I found lacking. I wanted something super smutty with a man of questionable morals and got something that's almost not smutty at all... but he did have the questioning morals down. It was almost a sad, dark, twisted drama with a psychopathic man obsessed with a woman and going to EXTREME measures to make sure she will be his.
We follow Piya and Axel in a Dual Timeline, Dual POV story (mostly told from Piya's POV). At 21, she was basically a spoiled rich Indian princess who was nothing but a disappointment to her family and friends for her bad romance choices. She gives herself one night, one night to flush that rebellion out of her system before conforming to the mould of the rich princess she should be. Years later, she is married to the man of her dreams, and she is taken to an extravagant party hosted by an elusive celebrity, only to discover the mysterious man is none other than Axel Trimanchio, and he has spent the last 14 years looking for her. Now that he has found her, he doesn't intend to let her go.
I did like the character of Piya. She was logical and full of love for her family, willing to sacrifice her happiness to please them. She is an amazing mother who just wants what is best for her daughter and is completely selfless but passionate and feisty when she needs to be.
Axel is obsessed (I might have mentioned this already), but he is also jealous, intense, extreme, and determined. He uses his determination as a driver to push to succeed in what he wants. But he is also incredibly passionate.
There were numerous twists and turns, some I saw coming a mile away and some I didn't. I read a couple of reviews after the book, and many recommend going in blind, and I COMPLETELY AGREE. I didn't know what to expect—picking this up based on the amazing review from Kursed Reads for book 2 and would urge you to do the same!

I did like the character of Piya. She was logical and full of love for her family, willing to sacrifice her happiness to please them. She is an amazing mother who just wants what is best for her daughter and is completely selfless but passionate and feisty when she needs to be.
Axel is obsessed (I might have mentioned this already), but he is also jealous, intense, extreme, and determined. He uses his determination as a driver to push to succeed in what he wants. But he is also incredibly passionate.
There were numerous twists and turns, some I saw coming a mile away and some I didn't. I read a couple of reviews after the book, and many recommend going in blind, and I COMPLETELY AGREE. I didn't know what to expect—picking this up based on the amazing review from Kursed Reads for book 2 and would urge you to do the same!

Many have tried and failed; the author just broke me. It's only happened a handful of times. Que the book hangover. This book is absolutely a masterpiece.
Words like calculated, obsessed, consuming, and intense may be some words to describe Axel. I would take these words and intensify them tenfold. Honestly, he is batshit crazy and unhinged. Yet so calculative. He sets his eyes on something and does everything he can to succeed. I love. Him.
Piya is from a traditional family that doesn’t fit their mold and is treated like an outcast. Can I say I can’t stand her brother? Just awful.. the poor girl. Yet she tried to be authentic to herself.
Read your trigger warnings; this book is not for everyone that is okay. A word of advice, go in blind to get the best experience.
So far, 5000 Nights Of Obsession so my top read of the year. It’s emotional, spicy, and full of secrets, betrayal, and many twists. I cried, laughed, and almost broke my damn kindle as I wanted to throw it across the room with rage.
The author took her writing and turned it up. I’m never, ever disappointed.
Seriously, dark lovers, not only should you add this book to your tbr, you need to run to get this book.

Even in the past chapters the heroine is still in her early twenty’s.
as for her character um yeahhhh. Actually for Both the H & h.. I don’t think I’ve ever felt such a disconnect before.

NGL, kinda depressing!
I was lured into this by numerous Facebook posts on various different reader groups, all promising smutty goodness, and a “psycho” stalker. What I got was THREE seggs scenes (one of which happened in the past), and an H that had some mental health issues, and was overall kinda sad but sweet. I definitely would not describe him as a psycho.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, but the ending was just depressing AF. The TW section did say that this wasn’t a romance novel, and I would have to agree. It’s more of a sad drama with a little bit of spice thrown in. It does end in a HEA for Axel and Piya, but a REALLY underwhelming and unsatisfying one.

It haunted me that those couples never got their happily ever after. Books and movies that triggered me to write 5000 Nights of Obsession and give those couples a better ending include The Great Gatsby (of course), Love Me If You Dare, Casablanca, Rockstar, Gone With The Wind, Anna Karenina, Indecent Proposal. I hope you enjoyed my take on these classics. I’m working on the bonus scene and hope to have it out by May.

The characters just hook their claws in you with all their faults and complexities. The chemistry between them was crazy. I really loved and respected the path the FMC chose. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

wooooowww!! twisty! psychopath H/obsessive/ HEA
Mannnnn… this was so damn good. Idk how to even write a review bc I’m just still spinning from finishing this book. This was sooooo twisty and good. Let me say this up front bc many people are hesitant to read this bc the author didn’t list it as a “romance”. This is not a traditional romance- the h is married, she’s not willing to give up her family just bc the H says so- and he does demand it lol. The ending is a HEA for this couple even if it’s not all sunshine and rainbows to get there and it def wasn’t for them. Man…. It was so good!
Okay so let’s get to it- as always this may contain spoilers but honestly I’m going to try NOT to put to much bc the twist and seeing everything for what it is/isn’t/unfold is a big part of the story.
The things 🫠
-First off .. Axel is the most swoon worthy psychopath I’ve ever read. He was so intentional about all the pieces he had to please his Piya.
-Psycho/non empath H
-h is a rich girl whose got a reckless side and her family ain’t impressed with all her bad decisions
-Our H and h meet just be chance and hit it off and create basically an Instalove connection which the h is only allowing herself for one night because her family would never approve
-H is a DJ, with tats and is obsessivveee
-OTT JP H… he doesn’t like anyone to touch Piya. I loved this. Sadly it’s hard to say he’s so Jp which our h is married 🫣
-Married h… she marries a guy whose approved by her family but is also very nice. They carve out a nice life together honestly and even though I wanted to hate Jay- I couldn’t.
-a silly “bucket” list … the list is the adventure that our Mains go on and just really bonds them
-Non/dub c0n.. I wanna say it was more Dub but was set up like Non. She thinks it’s her husband 😂😂 SURPRISE 😂😆
-steamy where there was smexy times (I would’ve been fine with more lol)
-he bites, marks and is super possessive

I saw that this was a Gatsby retelling and IMMEDIATELY clicked download. PLEASE check your triggers, the author makes it abundantly clear multiple times that this is a dark story.
This book follows Piya and Axel who met the night of her brothers wedding and had the best night of their lives. But, Piya comes from an old money family who wouldn't welcome someone like Axel with open arms, so the following morning, she leaves, determined to turn over a new leaf. 14 years later, they see each other again. Axel is relentless and obsessed and will never leave her alone again.
Axel was unhinged. There were times when I was disgusted by him. But then there were times when my heart went out to him. Piya had so much character growth by the end of the book, and I understood her a little more with each passing chapter.
This book was a solid 4 star read until about 70% of the way in, and then it became a definite 5 star for me. I was torn between loving and hating the MMC and we all know I love that feeling. The twist at the end was absolutely heartbreaking but done so well.

I was all on board with the forbidden stuff, but am getting tired of all the kid stuff. Maybe I'll come back and finish it someday, but for now, I'm done. 13 years is a huge gap as it is, the kid kinda makes it worse, sorry not sorry. And the whole paternity thing was so blatantly obvious.
My pet peeve was that the author directly used the ambani family's name, which is a real life indian mega rich family. Like, at least change a letter in the name or sth, jeez.
And I'm sorry but I just can't take "the hero is rich cause he's a world famous DJ" thing seriously. All the famous dj's in real life are the biggest douchebag celebs around (calvin harris? Drake(I guess is a DJ?)). Nope, just nope. It would be like if the heroine were an influencer or some such shit(don't even get me started on books where the heroine is one...shallowest profession in the world...sorry not sorry).
I honestly loved this author's "lust" and liked the quarantine series well enough, but this book just fell short of the mark for me.

my heart is in ruins. i don’t think i have read a more intriguing book than this one. Drethi Anis, you have ruined me and put me back together all in the span of 300 pages. seriously, the plot-twist and turns this book put me through was so worth it.
this book truly captured love in its most beautiful but destructive forms.

gosh, i don’t even know where to start this review. i don’t even want to spoil anything because going in blind was the best decision i have ever made. this is NOT categorized as a romance but more as a psychological thriller but i have to say, i am more than pleased with the ending no matter how torn up my heart is. this book had depth, it had layers, and it had amazing character development even though i wanted to strangle some characters half the time. i loved that this book felt real, there were truly no villains in this book (except maybe Axel but what can i say, i ❤️ assholes). i wanted there to be a villain so bad. a reason for Piya and Axel to finally be together, but there weren’t. and that’s how life is, things are just in different perspectives. it was the twist in the plot that really got to me. i already figured out most of the plot twist but some still shocked me to my core. the intensity of the characters, of the dynamic was like no other. i had fallen in love with every single character in this book. they have all dug a piece of themselves in my soul.
words cannot describe how this book made me feel. it gripped at my heart, it shattered my soul. one thing i can say is Axel is the definition of an obsessed Hero. this man did everything for Piya, even as crazy as he was, everything he did was for her. he counted the days they were apart, made himself better all while creating a plan to force Piya back into his life. i applaud Piya’s strength near the end. she stood her ground and pushed herself back up and transformed into a dutiful, loyal, strong woman. no matter how much her decision made me cry, it was the right one which paved way for a truly great ending. it allowed for the narrative of there is more than one type of love and how that can be expressed in different ways.

I had to let this book stew over night in my mind, this emotional and moving story left me feeling drained and I knew I had to digest everything I had just read and put my thoughts in order.
To say that Axel was intense and obsessive does not do this character justice. This man was fixated and possessed with not only Piya, but with life in general. He set his sights on something and was unstoppable and consumed until the goal was reached, never straying from his plans.
Piya was the epitome of love and self sacrifice, to the detriment of her needs and wants. She loved with so much passion and selflessness that my heart was breaking for her, making me gasp and bawl my eyes out, uncontrollably.
Poppy and Jay were crucial and significant characters in this story, strategically placed and utilized to incite compassion and faith in mankind, making me see that good, caring people exist.
The term "Bucket list" took on a whole new meaning for me reading this beautiful story, as the items were crossed off and revisited, and I realized I must take a look at my own list.
This story came to life for me, I felt like I was living in Piya And Axel's lives, drowning in their sorrows, dancing with glee at their triumphs, and feeling devastated along with them in their grief.

To say that Axel was intense and obsessive does not do this character justice. This man was fixated and possessed with not only Piya, but with life in general. He set his sights on something and was unstoppable and consumed until the goal was reached, never straying from his plans.

From the very start, there were multiple trigger warnings. Repeatedly reminding me this is not a romance.
…Well, Now I had to read this book.
However, very quickly into the story, i started to lose interest. Lots of dialogue and lots of story building. So much that I started forgetting what I was reading and had to reread pages just to keep up.
Axel Trimalchio is the rich billionaire, who is obsessed with Piya. I wish I could make these names up.
“The world-famous Axel Trimalchio—a celebrity DJ and a powerhouse in the music industry. Even EDM non-enthusiasts had an inkling of “DJ Axel” because he was well-rounded.”
-This is the description of the billionaire and honestly, I was put off. I don’t find a DJ hot or sexy, if anything, all the DJs I’ve met have been over weight and sleezeballs.
I could not get into this story for the life of me. I tried. Page after page, I was scolding myself to keep reading.
Why am I punishing myself?
“Piya: Please stop whatever it is you’re doing. In case you don’t recall, I’m married.
Axel: How could I forget? FYI, Ambani no longer has a place in your life.
Piya: Oh okay, master. Since you declared it so, I’ll simply inform my husband of thirteen years that he no longer has a place in my life.
Axel: I’m glad we agree.
Piya: Don’t text me again. I have a family now, and this is highly inappropriate.
Axel: End it with Ambani within the hour.
Piya: Are you hearing yourself? What is wrong with you?
Axel: I also want Ambani’s personal items gone by the end of the night. Throw them in a box when you kick him out or trash it for all I care.
Piya: Go to Hell, Mr. Trimalchio.
Axel: If you don’t cut the formality BS, I’ll get in my car and drive over.
Piya: I’m done with this conversation. Goodbye.”
-These texts are ridiculous.

I cried a bit before writing this, im still high on emotions.
Ending killed me (in a good way).
I was huge Drethis fan from the time i read first couple pages of her Quarantine series. Her writing just speaks to me - the way she explains complex emotions and situations and how she potrays love and passion is just beautiful.
Some spoilers...
There were moments where i didnt truly believe Axel's love for Piya, Drethis take on ASPD was so good and believable that i struggled to understand where Axels disorder ends and his real emotions start. Still I deeply felt Axels pain and need to be with his one and only person.
In the end the show stopper for me was Jay. I just couldnt stop crying for his characters fate. He was just too good... srsly, one remarkable man.
This book shows how different love can be. How each and every person in your life is there for a reason.
Such a good read! Will wait for that bonus scene.
