New in PJ Media:
Donald Trump was indicted Thursday and the sun came up as usual on Friday; all this business about the United States descending to banana-republic status is just right-wing hysteria, right? Wrong. The far-Left flagship Politico thumbed its nose at patriots on Thursday, cheerfully admitting that the case against Trump is a farrago of half-truths, distortions, and lies, served up as a flimsy excuse for what is really going on: the political persecution of the chief opponent of the ruling regime.
But then, instead of standing on principle and calling for a restoration of equal justice and the rule of law, Politico threw up its hands and asked: “So what?” Yes, they’re framing Donald Trump again, and yes, they know it and they know that we know it, but they don’t care. In fact, it’s likely that this case went ahead not despite being flimsy to the point of nonexistence, but because it’s so weak.
The Politico article is proof: the weakness of the case against Trump is not something that the ruling elites are trying to hide; on the contrary, they want all Americans to notice it. They want us to see and understand the fundamental lesson of this weakness: that they aren’t enforcing the law, they’re ripping it to shreds.
The message of the flimsiness of the Trump indictment is precisely that it is a political prosecution, and that the law is being manipulated to serve political purposes. With that message comes a warning: get too far out of line, and you’ll get the same treatment, no matter how innocent you are. Don’t be so naïve, after what happened to Trump, as to think that the rule of law will protect you.
And so Politico says it straight out: “Sometimes even Donald Trump has a point. This time, it’s his claim that he has been singled out by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office for conduct that would probably not have been charged as a crime against anyone else.”
Astoundingly, even after leading off their “who cares about equal justice under the law?” article with this, the same article says farther down: “Trump and his defenders may claim that the indictment should be dismissed because he is the victim of selective or malicious prosecution, but at the moment, a legal argument along those lines appears likely to fail. The reason is that the law generally requires robust evidence that the defendant has been singled out for an improper reason and that other, similarly situated people have not been criminally charged for similar conduct.” If there was ever a defendant in the history of the United States who had proof that he was singled out for an improper reason, it’s Donald Trump, and this Politico article is another proof of that fact.
There is more. Read the rest here.

“They want us to see and understand the fundamental lesson of this weakness: that they aren’t enforcing the law, they’re ripping it to shreds.” Apt summary of the situation.
The “Trump and his defenders may claim” serves to put on notice anyone who sees and understands, as with Taibbi and the IRS, that they will use the government we now have that is no longer of we the people, but we the cabal, to any end they choose.

Well said, Hoi Polloi.

Apparently there are 30 some odd parts to the indictment which will become public on Tuesday. Until then comments on it are mostly speculative.
The porn star buying off issue (which most people couldn’t care less about) appears to be one part of the indictment and perhaps DJT should be given a pass on it for a number of good and valid reasons. Not doing so makes it look very much like a political move by the prosecution.
BUT, since we don’t know the other counts on the indictment or the evidence supporting it it would be premature to conclude anything.
It is unfortunate (a little stupid in my view) to have such an apparently flimsy case be at the forefront of any prosecutions against DJT since there are much more important issues to address.
Any knee-jerk reactions to ANY and EVERY case against DJT are unwarranted without having the facts.
Let’s wait to see what is in the indictment.

Freedom of speech in the U.S. Constitution, allows any…or all… of us… citizens to “speculate.”
Attorneys have already said the charge everyone has been hearing about is way past the statute of limitations and even when that has not run out, it’s a misdemeanor. Raising it to a felony, while he allows felons who have committed serious crimes against individuals, to roam free…”no charges” filed…is criminal, prosecutorial misconduct.
And that’s not “speculation.”

Of course you can speculate…your speculation might even turn out to be correct.
How about this speculation — not every charge against DJT is unfounded or politically motivated?
Also, why let the facts get in the way of a good opportunity to speculate?
somehistory says
Fact is, everything I wrote is a fact….not speculation.

I heard some lawyers state that the statute of limitations had passed. Of course they are “speculating” on exactly what the charges might be. Assuming that the limitation period is as sacrosanct in the U.S. as it is in Canada It is inconceivable that any prosecutor would lay charges in such a case. If done inadvertently the charges would be dropped immediately once known.

Murder is the only crime that has no statute stated directly all over the country. Some rapes can be held indefinitely if DNA is obtained, and a warrant made out. And crimes against children may have an indefinite range, depending on the State where the crime was committed.
Other crimes that might be committed have set limits as to when they can be tried. and a crime has to be committed within the jurisdiction that wants to charge a person.
Now, Mr. Trump was in the WH (Washington,, DC, not NY) for four years, and it’s been nearly that many since he’s been living in Florida.
Did he commit murder in NY? Did he commit rape in NY and leave his DNA?
This whole thing is just a set-up and even g. soros is backing away from his da.
this bragg idiot looks at Trump and sees a ham sandwich.

Similar to the Prince Andrew case in some ways. High profile figure has consensual sex with stunning girl(s) & the hypocritical prudes are out in force.
BTW what’s the age of consent in USA?
somehistory says
If you were an American citizen who pays attention, you wouldn’t ask that question.

Jim, Stormy Daniels was born in 1979, and had sex with Donald Trump in 2006 when she was 27 years old. Whatever else you want to say about this incident, implying that she may have been underaged at the time is *way* off base.

That indictment of Donald Trump is a vicious wicked travesty. It’s been rightly called “legal voodoo.”

Question; What is the NY Grand Jury ? Answer; It’s a kangaroo court.
Walter Sieruk says
That indictment of Donald Trump is proof that the powers of evil are growing stronger in strength every year.
Furthermore, back when President Trump was in the Oval Office of the White House it was appropriate to say “God Bless America.” Now with the fiendish un-American subversive treasonous villain, Joe Biden, sitting in the Oval Office of the White House masquerading as a real, genuine, US President it’s now very fitting to pray “Please God have mercy on America.”
Walter Sieruk says
After this vicious travesty of justice of a “legal indictment” against Donald Trump, which is political fiasco of persecution and malicious harassment all blows over , much later in time it will much in the annals of future history books certainly will, with honest and ethical historians who write only truth, will print what an outstanding good President Donald Trump was and that he just and fair man who stood for justice and accomplished must for the advancement of the United States in only four years in Office.
In contrast future good quality history books will reveal what a despicable and evil man President imposter Joe Biden was and how he did and still does everything wrong and terrible to tear down the United States and cause her to become a third world power.
So much so that the name of Joe Biden will rot in American history.
As the Bible informs its reader “The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.” Proverbs 11:7. [K.J.V.]

Glenwood Jarman says
The proof of an out to get Former President Trump is that Hunter, James and Joe have come under no indictments even when the proof is massive. When Trump’s home is raided by the FBI for documents claimed to be classified even after former president had declassified them while evil Joe had classified documents (that he had no authority to de-classify) were found strewn all over his private residences provides more than ample proof of a double standard.
When evil Joe Stalin, oops I mean Joe the idiot, makes statements about the MEGA people in the nation being evil and anti-American, there can be no doubt in any thinking person’s mind that the communists are gearing up to take down our Constitution.

Absolutely, if Biden is in office another term by them stealing it once again, we will not have a country left. I just hope that a conservative is able to recover the country we once knew.
