This one had my heart pounding! It’s been a while since I’ve given a Harlequin book 5 stars. I have no prejudice against them, but they usually just don’t grab me much these days – until I read this one. The blurb does a great job of explaining the story so I won’t recap it in this review. Elle James has crafted a heart stopping, secret baby, injured SEAL story that I couldn’t put down. Hot Combat is the first story in a new series – Ballistic Cowboys. The storyline for the main characters is resolved but the mystery is not entirely solved and I can’t wait to read the next one. If you enjoy Harlequin Intrigue stories you won’t want to miss this one. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Raised an Air Force brat, Elle James got her work ethic from her dad, creativity from mom and inspiration from her sister. As a member of the reserves, she's traveled, managed a career, and raised three children. She and her husband even raised ostriches and emus.
