There are several possibilities here.
One is that the Iranian is a Shi’ite, and he went into a Sunni mosque looking for a confrontation. As most Iranians are Shi’ites, that may be the most likely scenario, but it isn’t the only one.
The Iranian may also be an ex-Muslim who is angry about Islam and possibly about the Islamic Republic, and who decided to express his anger in this direct and arresting manner.
And it is also possible that the Iranian was hoping to fabricate an incident that would be taken as an instance of “Islamophobia” and result in more solicitude toward Islam and Muslims in Germany.
“Koran set on fire – police investigating,” translated from “Koran angezündet – Kriminalpolizei ermittelt,” Polizei Sachsen, April 18, 2023:
The state protection of the Dresden police department is currently investigating a 34-year-old Iranian for disturbing the practice of religion.
The man is suspected of taking a Koran in a Dresden mosque and setting it on fire. Several people in the mosque held the suspect until the police officers who had been alerted arrived.
The motives behind the crime are part of the ongoing investigation. (ml)

No. Arab and Turkic countries are not gonna reject islam simply b’cos Iran does. Aside from shi’a vs sunni, there’s also the issue of them following their ethnic interests. Islam is a good vehicle for both Arab and Turkish supremacy, but somehow, not Iranic supremacy

If you burn a Koran that has been translated into another language which makes it heretical are you actually burning a Koran?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
I think #1 is unlikely, since the shi’a don’t have a quran that’s that different from a sunni quran. I think that scenarios 2 or 3 are more likely

Burning a mozlum’s book of evil, demonic filth is like ‘man bites dog,’ whereas someone burning any other book, is dog licks hand of his owner.
Imo, obeying the commands in that book of filth should be a crime, while burning it should be considered public service.
where are the riots? Where the outrage? mozlums attack other mozlums…and until they are forced to admit it was a fellow mozlum, they blame infidels; and much whining and rioting occur when one of their books are smudged or torn, even by accident.
Would there be an investigation if a Bible was burned or torn? I think not.
Recently, many books have gone through re-write in order to not offend some readers.
There have been versions of the Bible that call God a “she”…and no “investigation” or riots. But what happens when someone even mentions altering the evil book of islam’s filth?
And none of the protections for that evil book are done out of “respect”…but fear of what rabid mozlums will do to the person tearing, burning, smudging, or rewriting it.

Another case of Muslim on Muslim racism.
When will this insanity cease??!! (talking about Islam, of course).
