A new small-town romance series from Claudia Burgoa equals one very happy me! Starts with You is a very quick read, basically just a taste of Heartwood Lake to introduce the series. We meet several characters, some crossing over from other series and some new characters to meet and fall for. Front and center are Callahan and Lake. We only get a hot minute with them, but it was enough that I'm anxiously waiting for the first novel in the series. These two have the potential to really mess with us (in all the best ways, of course). After reading this prequel, I'm betting that Claudia has loads of feels coming at us. So, if you like small-town romance series, I'd suggest grabbing this prequel to meet some of the characters of Heartwood Lake and get ready to dive into the first novel in the series.

The H met the h when she was training for the Cyber Crime Division for the FBI. He's been suppressing 
his  feelings for her ever since they met because she friend zoned him.

The H got assigned a case two weeks prior and he asked the h for help. The case involves the mafia and 
this ends up putting both the main characters in danger. Unfortunately the "higher-ups" are forcing them
to go into WITSEC for their own protection. They end up in a rural town in the middle of nowhere, 
Colorado.

Honestly, the way the book starts off it's like we're missing the back story of the two main characters. It 
kinda felt like this was the second book in a series, or a continuation after another book. Unfortunately it also ends in a cliffhanger. Personally, I'm not interested in continuing on with this series or even trying to 
find the rest of Lake and Callahan's story.

Who is Callahan? What philosophical topic is he thinking about? Who is Lake and how does the pair meet? What do we see Callahan say about Lake? Who are Ryder and the DiGiacomo Family? What Ansel did for Ryder and his family was good. Lake brought up something at the end of chapter two that raised my eyebrows. How does Lake know or meet Ansel? Oh, the quick eight chapters of this book have me wanting more!

This prequel by Claudia Burgoa really preps you for her upcoming series. As always you will get the feels. The storyline here will leave you wanting more. Characters so vivid with cameos from her other books. I highly recommend this book and author. The world build is spread out but as you read all of her. Books you become part of the story and familiar with the locations. This is a short book but it's filled with secrets and new characters.
