5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Shelby Gunter’s latest book!! OMG!! I absolutely LOVED Resurgence!! This romance/thriller was action packed and so exciting to read. The mix of steamy romance and suspense has you hooked throughout the book and the steam between Jackson and Thia is HOT! These characters are full of the most incredibly endearing character bonding. Shelby does an excellent job investing in the character development throughout the book. Thia and Jackson are the best! This is book three in The Shadow Series and it is my favorite one of all three books. Again…5 stars to Shelby Gunter! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ She is a phenomenal writer and gets you engaged and invested in her characters. Everyone should read this series! I want to thank Shelby Gunter for this gifted copy of Resurgence and I am honored to be chosen as an ARC reader on her ARC Team.

    This was one of the most intense books I’ve read in awhile. It was the perfect ending for this trilogy. All the questions were answered. Questions I didn’t know I had were answered. There were so many twists and possible villains it kept me guessing.

    At first I really questioned how Thia and Jackson would make a believable couple because of their age difference, but it really worked. Thia was not the average 19 year old and was very aware of that. She’d been through more than most people ever would and came out fighting. She was such a brave character and worked to make herself better both mentally and physically. And Jackson was the perfect partner for her. He supported her and didn’t baby her. He held her up when she needed it but also acknowledged her individual strength. By the same token, Jackson needed someone who could accept his own inner demons and bring some light into his life and Thia did just that for him.

    The suspense in this book was intense. I don’t think there was a moment to take a breath. Thia really couldn’t just catch a break, the number of times she was kidnapped was a little ridiculous, but she continued to fight her way back to Jackson. I loved the introduction of Jackson’s team and I’m hoping there will be a Nightfall series in the future because they were quite the characters.

    As I said at the beginning, this was the perfect ending to this trilogy. I loved that all three couples got their happily ever afters. I loved that everything was so well wrapped up. The one thing I thought was missing was Thia returning to Italy for a visit, but I think that’s just a personal preference and not something that would have added or taken away from the plot.

    This book was so much more than what I anticipated. Be prepared to NOT put this book down. So many twists and turns. The resiliency of Thia and the patience of Jackson was the perfect backdrop to their relationship. I will definitely read this again.

    The conclusion to the shadow series, and we finally have all the answers! And what a twist that was!

    Poor Thia. She can’t catch a break. I mean, how many times can one person be kidnapped? Thankfully she has the help of Jackson and Nightfall, along with the previous couples, Dax, Hailey, Lizzy and Isaac.

    This is a continuation of everything going on in the past two books, but focuses mainly on Thia and her being put on the black list to be sold, and Jackson. Their budding romance, even with the reservations from Jackson because of their large age gap. However, he will do anything to protect her.

    Considering Thia’s past, she had received some training and self-defense moves that helped her in more ways than just one. Not to mention, because of everything she had been through, Jackson being so patient and understanding of what she needed and what he could do to help her through it all. Thia was a very strong character and unfortunately, had to grow up fast. But, she didn’t want to have to rely solely on someone else to always rescue her, so she took matters into her own hands and defended herself the best she could.

    This was everything needed in a conclusion, and I’m glad we got all the answers we had been seeking from the beginning.

    Music is thumping through the room as they celebrate Isaac and Lizzy's happiness but he realizes how jaded he had become that he can't enjoy the party. All he can do is try not to stare at the dark-haired girl he has no business looking at. Thia. Of all the women in the world he would be attracted to the one most off-limits.

    As he's trying to decide if it's too early to leave without being rude he gets a call from Connor. Connor had been running a background check for him and came across Thia's name. She was put on The Black List...a site on the black market for the depraved to buy anything they wanted...like someone to torture or worse. And Thia was on the auction block ... as a sex slave.

    Thia doesn't know why she is so fascinated with Jackson. Just the size of him should terrify her, but she feels protected when in his presence. Something she never thought she would ever feel. She had spent months being chained in the closet of the sadistic Yuri Solokov. She would be forever grateful to Hailey, Lizzy and Dax for rescuing her.

    Hailey and Lizzy were part of The Shadow Society. A group of women who go after bad men that the justice system can't. She still can't believe Kathryn invited her to join them...although she has 1st hand experience and is thankful for the training to defend herself.

    What a perfect ending to an amazing trilogy! Thia had been kidnapped and sold as a sex slave, but despite all the torture she endured she has an inner strength that kept her from losing her mind. Jackson started a security firm right after his discharge from the Marines and although they take on mostly government contracts, he and his mercenaries joined in to find the monsters behind the worldwide trafficking ring.

    This book is action-packed from page one and will keep you turning the pages as the mystery starts to unfold. Everything is connected...Hailey, Lizzy and most of all Thia. MAJOR PLOT TWIST! Everything finally makes sense and believe me when I say it is a shocker.

    Each of the books in this series has their own HEA, but to fully understand the major storyline they need to be read in order. For those with triggers, this series deals with human sex trafficking but this author does an awesome job and especially in her betrayal of Thia.

    Highly recommend! Looking forward to stories for the men of Nightfall Security...hint, hint.
