KATHMANDU, MAY 9

Nepalis returning from foreign employment are henceforth allowed to bring two mobile phones. The earlier provision allowed such returnees to bring in only one mobile after completing the customs procedure.

Nepali citizens who have been working abroad for at least six consecutive months after receiving labour approval will be allowed to bring one more new cellular mobile phone with them. The facility proposed by Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat was approved by the meeting of the Council of Ministers today evening.

In the notice published on May 28, 2020, as per Sub-section (3) of Section 9 of the Customs Act, 2007, a provision was introduced that allowed bringing a desktop computer or laptop, tablet, watch, camera, video camera and cellular mobile phone in use.

But the Cabinet meeting held today has relaxed the rule allowing those who return after working abroad for at least six months to bring one more handset.
