Sarit Ahmad may have been a Druze, but that is not certain. In any case, the fact that she filed a complaint against her brothers raises the possibility that this was an honor killing. The likelihood that she was killed over her sexual preference is also an indication of the influence of Sharia over the whole matter, whether due to its being the prevailing culture or stemming from its actually being practiced in her family. Non-Muslims who live in predominantly Islamic societies tend to adopt the perspectives and values of the majority. One might object that living in a Druze community in Israel would make it more likely that Sarit Ahmad would have been Westernized, and she obviously was, based on her appearance and the fact that she made her sexual preference public, or at least it was known to her family. But the Arab community tends to associate with the Arab community, and that community is predominantly Muslim. Clearly her brothers didn’t share her views.
“Woman, 18, shot dead in north; 99th victim of violence in Arab community this year,” Times of Israel, June 9, 2023:
An 18-year-old woman was shot dead in northern Israel on Friday, becoming the 99th member of the Arab community killed this year in a crime wave that has spiraled out of control since the establishment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government five months ago.
The killing comes less than 24 hours after a deadly mass shooting in the northern Arab town of Yafa an-Naseriyye that killed five people, one of the worst single acts of violence in recent years.
Police said their initial investigation found that the woman — later identified as Sarit Ahmad — was shot in her upper body while sitting in her car just outside her hometown, the majority-Druze locality Kisra-Sumei in the western Galilee region, by a suspect who managed to flee the scene.
Officers have since opened an investigation and began collecting evidence but indictments of murder cases in the Arab community are exceedingly rare.
Medics were dispatched to the scene and worked to resuscitate Ahmad while rushing her to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, but doctors were forced to declare her death shortly after she arrived.
According to Hebrew media reports, Ahmad had been threatened in the past over her sexual orientation, and in 2021, two of her brothers were arrested and briefly jailed after she filed a police complaint against them.
Ahmad was forced to flee to a women’s shelter, but last month filed another police complaint after receiving additional threats from her brother….

This is so sad and barbaric. Why couldn’t
the brothers of Sarit Ahmad have disowned her and refused to have anything to do with her? I am 100% female heterosexual, and I do not understand how anyone can be transgendered, but if trans people do not prey upon children or bother adults, their identity choice should not make anyone mad. May Sarit Ahmad rest in peace.
Phil Copson says
Nobody can be “trans-gendered” – it isn’t possible to change one’s gender.
Heidi Rothberg says
The Druze are not Muslim and wouldn’t have murdered her for her sexual orientation. She was Muslim. there has been a rash of Arab murders in the past few months; mostly gang members and blood feuds are the reason

Islam’s answer to all family problems seems to be violence.

They blame this on “a crime wave that has spiraled out of control since the establishment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government five months ago.” THe PM did not give a command to “release the Kracken, ” nor did he unleash convicted criminals to create victims.
Her last name is Arabic, but her first name, “Sarit,” is Israeli, a deminutive of Sarah. It means “Princess.”
When it comes to Muhamnadanism, I have come to believe it spreads fastest because narcissists use it to justify treating others as objects to be manipulated. It is used to justify rape, robbery, and the killing of those innocent of hurt to others. Members of other religions do this, but, unliike Muhammadanism, it is not part of their doctrines and dogma or even common to their practice. Perhaps her brother perverted to “Islam.”
