When tragedy strikes in the parking lot of a rodeo event, bullfighter Jasper Dean loses his best friend Kayla, inherits her barrel racing horse, her pack of dogs, and her two babies, who also happen to be his biological kids. He has no idea what to do about any of it, and JD struggles to juggle all of his new responsibilities. So when an old friend makes an unexpected offer of help, he grabs it with both hands.
Nash Remington was right there when the crime happened, and he's mourning just like the rest of his rodeo family. When he seeks out JD to deliver Kayla's horse, which he's been caring for, he makes the offer for JD to come to his ranch to let him and his family help JD figure out what to do next.
The two men have to deal with loss, their old attraction to each other, new love, and a whole new family dynamic, all while balancing work and life and trying to make sense of a terrible loss. Can they find the meaning of life together?

She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting, and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her wife, Julia Talbot and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.

Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to hard-core cowboys to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which was raised in Northeast Texas, but has heard the call of the high desert and lives in the Sandias. With books ranging from hard-hitting romance, to fiery menages, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head, and she's determined to give her cowboys their happily ever afters.

    BA has done it again, what a great addition to her BA's Cozy Cowboy series.
    A violent even brings 2 men together to save a much loved horse and two babies. JD agreed to donate sperm to help his best friend fulfill her dream of having a child, one became twins. JD's world is rocked when he's informed that his best friend and several others have been shot. JD's world is rocked, JD loses his best friend, gains twins and a traumatized horse. In walks Nash. Nash now runs bulls, and has over 80,000 acres, and has a thing for JD for years. Nash was shot during this event and offers aid to JD, who has no idea what to do. As always the cowboy family comes together and helps these two get their footing. Nash takes JD, the twins, the horse, 5 hound dogs, a donkey and two other horse to his home.
    This story is all about love, sacrifice and how a tragedy can make dreams come true.

Not my favourite in this series, but still a sweet, lovely read.
