Six family members were wounded in a shooting incident in the northern Arab town of Kafr Kanna on Saturday.

Among the six wounded, a 55-year-old man and his 29-year-old daughter were in critical condition. A 17-year-old was in moderate condition and the three others sustained light wounds.

Police viewed the incident as a criminal attempt to assassinate the victims as part of a known conflict between families in the town, according to initial reports.

Photos surfaced on social media showing the supposed vehicle used by the shooters being lit on fire near a construction site in the area.

More than 150 people have been murdered so far this year in the Arab community. This is more than twice the number of murders in the community compared to the same time last year.

Tel Aviv protest pays tribute to those murdered this week

At the weekly Tel Aviv protest on Saturday, some of the protesters carried coffins in a march of the dead, to protest what they said was government inaction against rising violence in the Arab community. Tira Mayor Mamoun Abd al-Hay was a keynote speaker at the protest, which reportedly had some 100,000 participants.

Members of the Druze community were also present at the Tel Aviv protest, waving Druze flags. All four victims of Tuesday’s shooting in Abu Snan belonged to the Druze minority, whose leaders announced a strike in community institutions on Wednesday.
