DetraPel, an advanced materials company in the cleantech space, has recently closed a $7.6 million Series A funding round led by Material Impact. The company plans to expand its industrial arm, Impermea Materials, which provides various industries like paper-based packaging, textiles and healthcare, with protective coatings that are free of synthetic chemical compounds and plastics.
Impermea’s protective coatings offer a range of benefits to the industries that use them. For food packaging, Impermea’s coatings offer oil and grease resistance, moisture sensitivity protection and temperature fluctuation resistance. In textiles, they provide liquid repellency, stain resistance, UV protection and flame retardancy. In healthcare, Impermea’s coatings provide antiviral protection.
This new investment in DetraPel will be used to continue expanding Impermea Materials’ production processes to fulfill growing demand for safer protective coatings in manufacturing. The capital will go toward product development, a new synthesis laboratory, an application and commercialization laboratory as well as sales and marketing efforts.
