Accelerators vs. Incubators vs. Venture Studios If you’re looking to quickly scale, join an accelerator. If you’re looking for long-term support, go to an incubator. If you’re looking to skip a few steps and jump into a viable startup with proven frameworks, a venture studio might be for you. I know not everybody is meant for venture studios. It's not meant for you if: ❌ You’re not willing to give up substantial equity. ❌ You want to make 100% of your startup’s decisions. ❌ You already have PMF, working frameworks, and the best team. Unfortunately, the odds of successfully building a startup on your own are near impossible. 90% of self-funded startups fail. 25–30% of startups with VC funding fail. So I’d like to show you how we build jumpstarted startups in our venture studio. We launch our own startups to a certain point. Once it becomes more mature, we bring in an external CEO / Founder. But our approach is unique compared to others. Our entire studio is designed to launch solutions that aim to help other startups scale from problem to Series A round (i.e., product-market fit). It creates an iterative process that, over time, DOUBLES our startup success rates. You see, venture studios are not just consultants. We build MVPs, create processes, and achieve PMF. We provide end-to-end support and do it with you. Informative piece ! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the useful material! However, I dont think it is fair to compare incubators and accelerators - there are different core reasons for them to select, to help, to grow the teams and themselves... I think, Venture studio is one "reality" and Incubators-Accelerators are the other. Your idea about the wrong decision-making in startups (joining lots of programs without much critical thinking), though, is something I completely agree with
Really great insights and thanks for sharing this and the graphic as well Elon Salfati
FYI your website is kinda broken in mobile, grey text on background made it illegible.
Very clear infographic :) It could be a highly intriguing investigation to assess the eventual valuation of three groups of companies with similar traits, each of which undergoes one of these three programs.
I’ve never found the 12 week structure of accelerators and incubators to be effective. There are a handful in the world that do this with a stage based approach. They force teams to focus on what is important right now. Often accelerators end up being a huge distraction for startups providing them with way to much information that is not relevant right now
