Photos from Gamescom

It's hard to get across just how huge Gamescom was. I spent most of the time in the business areas (spread out across 3 buildings and 5 floors) but there were also consumer areas, cosplay areas, event areas, and buy-stuff areas. It was maybe 20-30x the size of Armageddon Wellington 2023, and over five days instead of two.

(One of) the queues to enter the event. There was at least two entrances for the public and there'd easily be a couple of thousand people queued up to enter every morning.

Lots of games only had a single booth to demonstrate their game. There were a lot of queues to play games. I never experienced shoulder-to-shoulder traffic myself, but I heard it happened quite a few times.

The Indie areas and booths on floor 11.2 were my favourites! They felt like my peeps. I got to meet a lot of amazing devs and creators.

Humble Games had a number of stands - this was their dedicated consumer one.

And the highlight of my entire trip - I got to meet Tarn Adams, creator of Dwarf Fortress!! I did NOT have this on my 2023 bingo card at the start of the year. Kitfox (publisher of the Steam version) had organised a DF after party at a bar across the river. He is super smart, intelligent, humble, and kind - as was the rest of the Kitfox team. I would LOVE to work with Kitfox one day 🙏

I have a few more photos from the event that I'd like to share, but I'm currently on a train heading back home and the internet quality is not good 😅 I'll be flying home for most of the next 48 hours, and then I'll be at NZGDC. See y'all soon <3
