In Boston, a pro-Israel rally was held on Oct. 9, at which Governor Maura Healey, Boston Mayor Michele Wu, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey, and Congressman Jake Auchincloss all spoke. After Senator Markey called for an end to the violence, and a “de-escalation,” he was greeted with boos from many in the crowd. More on this disapproval can be found here: “Democrat Booed on Stage for Israel Comment,” by Katherine Fung, Newsweek, October 9, 2023:
Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey was booed during a solidarity rally for Israel after he called for de-escalation in the Middle East region.
While speaking at the Boston Common on Monday, Markey was met with jeers in the crowd as he called for a “de-escalation of violence.”…
Representative Jake Auchincloss, who spoke roughly 15 minutes after the senator, was cheered loudly by the same audience after he declared de-escalation “not possible.”
“De-escalation is not possible when they are taking hostages. Israel did not ask America to de-escalate on September 12, 2001. We stand with Israel,” Auchincloss said….
“This isn’t a both-sides issue; calls for de-escalation are premature,” Auchincloss said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday. “The United States did not de-escalate after Pearl Harbor. Israel requires the military latitude to re-establish deterrence and to root out the nodes of terrorism in Gaza.”…
On the other hand, a day before Israel officially declared war, Markey said in a Saturday statement, “I condemn this heinous attack on Israel, and am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of civilian life. We must do everything in our power to deescalate violence, engage diplomacy, and avert bloodshed. A war between Israel and Palestine would be catastrophic.”
A call for “de-escalation,” which Markey was already making on the very day that Israel was attacked, is exactly what Hamas wants. Having murdered 900 Israelis, 90% of whom were civilians, Hamas now wants the world to pressure Israel to call off its response. That is what “de-escalation” means in practice. But Israel is determined to keep up its onslaught on the terrorists now under siege in Gaza, pummeled by attacks from the air and sea and soon, from the land until it is no longer a military threat and, what’s more, the Israeli government has announced, it will no longer rule over Gaza. Senator Markey seems not to have grasped the enormity of what Hamas did, or understood the depth of Israel’s resolve not just to defeat Hamas, but to destroy it.
Fortunately, Democratic Congressman Jake Auchincloss, who spoke 15 minutes after Markey, made clear to the appreciative audience that Israel could not possibly call a halt to its response so early on. It needs to kill many more Hamas fighters — about 1,500 were killed in Israel, and another 600 killed so far in Gaza. It also needs to destroy terror tunnels, command-and-control centers, thousands of rockets still in Hamas hideouts, stores of ammunition and rifles, along with the Jeeps that Hamas terrorists used in their Oct. 7 invasion.
The IDF will take as long as it needs to achieve those ends, and no one, whether on the Boston Common, or in Congress, or at the UN, should expect Israel to halt its campaign one minute sooner than the IDF determines it needs to fully complete its task.

Markey is not alone but representative of a tremendous menace to America and to the world at large. What is that menace? Why, it is the Democratic Party of the USA. No greater threat, not one, exists to America more so than the Democratic Party.
Yes, there are other domestic bad actors out there like the teacher unions, the entire educational establishment, Big Tech, the MSM and so on. Foreign threats aplenty also of course exist like Russia, China and the Islamic sphere of mankind, but it is the Democratic Party that is presently in the forefront of destroying America under the “tutelage” of the brain-dead Biden. I am no more patient with people who don’t get this than I am with people who continue to refuse to see how vile Islam truly is.

These people live in cloud cuckoo land. They are typical of the types the US voters elect to high office and I am constantly amazed that they do so. Did the USA de-ascalate after Pearl harbour, no they made the Doolittle raid. Did they de-escalate after 9/11 no they went after the Al Queda.

I read the report of this on Newsweek. I was surprised that they reported it as they did.

Just about what I would expect from Sen. “Malarkey”.

Absolute scum of the Earth. Just one of many pos residing it our government. If I were King Markey would be on his way to Gaza right now along with many others.

I should clarify my reasoning. Markey is calling for de-escalation of what he labels escalation. When it comes to raping and murdering women, murdering the elderly, burning kids alive and beheading babies I cant think of anything that could be considered escalation. So yes, Markey is scum as he makes me feel somewhat scummy that he is an American. Fair is fair.

I wonder if somebody had jumped up on stage and punched Malarky in the mouth would he then tell his Security Detail to not try and stop the attacker as that would escalate the violence?.
Inquiring minds want to know.

How about Hamas and the rest of the islamic hate everything, rape and murder leadership de-escalate their attacks on the rest of the human population.
It appears that Islam and its leadership and followers want to kill all of us or enslave us. They see our de-escalation as a sign of weakness.
It’s time to stand up a fight this evil. If they want to live like savages it’s time to drive them back to the Stone Age and bury them in their caves.
James Lincoln says
On the contrary, the IDF needs to escalate.
