After reading Jane Austen's "Lady Susan", I've been afflicted with an impulse to try my hand at an epistolary story, in other words, a story written solely through letters. And this is the result! It isn't very long; it might take you a half hour to read, and has a light mix of mystery and romance.

Hugo Rutherford is no more. Made mildly famous by his expeditions into South America many years before, Hugo practically disappeared from society after the passing of his wife, and retired to his impoverished estate to raise his only daughter. At 20 years old, Celia Rutherford is grieved at her beloved father's passing, but she is already adept at managing her father's house, albeit with her own eccentric style! Rumors of her father's diamonds have begun to circulate once more, and her concerned friends and relations are drawn to the house to investigate. When her cousin Simon brings Henri Favre with him to "ask questions", Celia discovers that not only her supposed hidden wealth, but her future happiness may hang in the balance. This story is written in the form of letters.
