Bob Rae is the current Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations. He has been serving since 2020. He has stated in support of Canada’s break with its longstanding stance on Israel at the UN, in voting for a Gaza ceasefire, that there are “limits to how far people can be pushed.”
No one can deny the hellishness of war. There were some 40 million civilian deaths during World War II, the deadliest war in history. Among them were children. While Rae discusses the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, his focus is on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza — a crisis that was caused by Hamas. There is no mention by Ambassador Rae of the human shields used by Hamas, the Palestinian celebration of “martyrdom,” or the refusal of Muslim countries to take in Palestinian refugees. The collateral damage and consequences of this war are heaped on Israel’s back alone.
Israel’s war on Hamas is for its very survival as a Jewish state. The Canadian government refuses to acknowledge this. Hamas unequivocally states its intention to obliterate Israel in its written Covenant and proved with its barbarity on October 7 just how far it was and is willing to go in executing its plan.
One needs to consider the source when analyzing any situation. Ambassador Bob Rae has an extensive career history with the socialist-leaning New Democrat Party of Canada, which boasts of its “social democratic and democratic socialist traditions.” A decade ago, with an intent to “modernize,” the NDP voted “to take ‘socialism’ out of party constitution.” Rae was NDP premier of Ontario from 1990 to 1995, leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party from 1982 to 1996, and then went Liberal, serving as interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2011 to 2013. The NDP ran a so-called “peace” campaign calling upon Canada to “stop selling arms to Israel.” The publication Spring, “a magazine of socialist ideas in action,” published an article less than a month after the horrors of October 7, entitled “Mass movement for Palestinian solidarity forces NDP in the right direction.” The NDP is pro-Palestinian, and the Liberals have not been far off from such a stance. Trudeau’s appointment of Rae, a career NDPer, to serve as ambassador to the UN is telling. The Canadian Press now reports:
Canada voted in favour of a non-binding resolution at the United Nations on Tuesday that calls for “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas, in a move that broke with years of Canadian policy and shocked Jewish groups.
The vote at the UN General Assembly represents a shift in Canada’s long-standing position of siding with Israel on major resolutions at the international body and arguing the Jewish state is unfairly called out in global forums. The Liberals say the carnage in the Gaza Strip led Canada to change tack.
“We must recognize that what is unfolding before our eyes will only enhance the cycle of violence,” Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly said Tuesday on Parliament Hill.
The decision of the Liberals to formally support the UN resolution for ceasefire follows upon a visit to Canada this week by Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad Al Maliki and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who were on a mission to to “speak on behalf of Muslim people” and rally support for a ceasefire. Also in attendance was Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. These representatives from the virulently antisemitic Palestinian Authority and Turkey, which seek to destroy Israel, were warmly embraced by Melanie Joly and Justin Trudeau. The visit was covered on Jihad Watch. An excerpt:
Merely ten days after Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israeli citizens, which Hamas calls Operation Al Aqsa Flood, the Palestinian Authority announced that it would “give Hamas terrorists’ families close to $3m in ‘pay-for-slay.’” “In the current pay-for-slay system, called the “Martyrs’ Fund” by the PA, terrorists receive monetary payments as a reward for acts of terror.” As for Turkey (a foremost global peddler of the “Islamophobia” subterfuge), its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the “butcher of Gaza,” and demanded that he be tried as a “war criminal.” Erdogan also declared that Israel is a “terrorist state” and Hamas is a “political party.” Speaking at a pro-Hamas “Great Palestine Rally,” Erdogan threatened Israel: “We can come at any night unexpectedly”; while the massive crowd chanted “Turkish military to Gaza.” Erdogan has also called Hamas “a group of mujahideen fighting to protect their lands.” Well, Hamas did descend on Israeli citizens “unexpectedly,” and now Erdogan threatens Israel anew.
The National Post stated of the visit “Mélanie Joly embarrasses herself“ : “Her constantly shifting positions on Israel’s war with Hamas terrorists in Gaza are either evidence of her going rogue, being completely unaware of what the government’s policy is or that she really does think that the “ceasefire-now, Hamas are freedom fighters” faction of the left is the Liberals’ most important constituency.”
On November 16, the Canadian Press quoted Bob Rae as stating: “We consider it essential that the international community speak clearly in condemning this terrorism by Hamas,” The UN “rejected any push to call out ‘deliberate cruelty’ of Hamas attacks.” As Bob Rae represents the Liberal Government of Canada, he now states in defense of Canada’s decision to vote for a ceasefire at the UN that there are “limits to how far people can be pushed,” with reference to the Palestinians. Such words are more appropriate in reference to Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, which was violated in the worst way imaginable on October 7 and cannot risk such an attack or an even worse one happening again. The current Canadian government has drawn a line in the sand.
The writing has long been on the wall, as explained HERE. And in August 2022, an incident that disappeared quickly from media reports showed just how ‘tolerant’ the Trudeau government can sometimes be. Laith Marouf, a government-funded Muslim “anti-racism” representative, stated on X:
“Life is too short for shoes with laces, or for entertaining Jewish White Supremacists with anything but a bullet to the head.”
In another, he refers to so-called “Jewish White Supremacists” as “loud mouthed bags of human feces,” adding that if Palestine is “liberated,” they will “return to being low voiced b*tches of their Christian/Secular White Supremacist Masters.”
Despite the Liberals’ expression of regret after the embarrassment of having the incident blow wide open in media, it emerged that Canada’s Diversity Minister Ahmed Hussen was warned about Marouf’s anti-Semitic tweets before the news broke. Robert Spencer stated only a day before the report: “Laith Marouf has been seething with open hatred for Jews and others for years. If the Trudeau government only just found this out, it’s criminally negligent. If it knew all along and didn’t care until there was a public furor, it’s something worse than that.”
In 2019, Canada not only broke ranks with tradition to support Palestinian interests at the UN, but it went on to install an “Islamophobia Czar” who served as communications director for the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), formerly CAIR-CAN — an offshoot of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
There is a history and consistency with the Canadian government, amid its obscene moral equivalence about caring for both Palestinians and Israelis. This week’s welcome of Palestinian Authority and Turkish leaders to “speak on behalf of ‘Muslim people” is more of the same. In light of all that, Canada’s vote is no surprise.
Ian Senior says
The world community is anti Israel calling for the death of Jews and the death of Israel.
The aggressor Hamas needs to be condemned along with anti Israel global protests.
Israel is not the bad guy. Hamas and Islamists are the bad guys wanting to impose their barbaric ideology onto other nation states. Their invasion of western nations is undertaken under the guise of refugees and asylum seekers acquiring political control of western countries at local, regional and national level.

THE CONSPIRACY THEORY
.
It has been clear for a while now to the Elites, the Governments, and others with a need to control things, that more and more people would skip their daily brainwashing session with legacy MSM and obtain their daily News directly from the Internet. As that process progressed, they would lose their control over We the People and that terrifies them. Their strategy to deal with this is multi-pronged and includes:
.
Quantitative easing, aka the printing of money: deliberately creating Inflation, ever increasing prices, and eventually crippling debt for all but the wealthiest,
Climate change policies: eliminating/reducing the use of fossil fuels and fertilizers, generating food shortages, and creating hunger and starvation in some parts of the world,
Digital currencies to track your every move,
Censorship: largely enacted by bought and paid for legacy MSM organizations, and enforced by Government,
Lawfare: use of the judicial system to enforce the will of government,
Ignoring precedents established in Common Law over centuries in favour of new progressive ideologically based legislation, based on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity,
15-minute cities: limiting your mobility, tracking your movements,
Taxes: taking away part of the wages and hard-earned profits of ordinary citizens and then returning some of it through special programs simply places greater control over people’s lives in the hands of the government,
COVID-19: the lockdowns, the masks, and social distancing,
Divide and conquer strategies: keeping people from uniting and fighting for common causes such as their Rights and Freedoms.
.
But of course, the fact that the common thread running through all of this is Control, Control, Control is pure coincidence, right ??? Anyone who questions that is obviously a Conspiracy Theorist. Politicians respect the will of the people and know that we need help with figuring out what is in our best interests. Politicians understand our needs better than we do, and they are here to help us figure out what we want. Any suggestion that successive governments in Western nations have become increasingly Authoritarian and are intent on implementing Totalitarian states is just plain silly.
.
Well, maybe. In any event there is little point in continually describing problems without ever defining Solutions. Constantly adding to the Fear and Apprehension that people feel without telling them what they can or should do is likely creating as much harm as good.
.
In 2024 you should spend more time listening to the likes of Jordan Peterson, Bari Weiss, Dave Rubin, Christopher Ruffo, Christine Douglass-Williams, and maybe even a little J.P. Sears.
.
We know what the problems are. The need today is to define workable solutions.

All any continued “ceasefire” would do is to give time for the jihadists ,who belong to that murderous jihad entity Hamas, to regroup and then viciously attack Israel again and viciously murder her people.

It does not go far enough as many pro Hamas protesters did try and storm the Liberals Christmas party last night.
Ray Jarman says
Once again, why is Israel subjugated to rules of war that holds no water? Israel is not even attempting to extract damages from Hamas and even permitting of goods entering the territory that attacked them. When a nation is attacked and defends itself successfully, it is customary for the attacked nation to extract compensation from attacker but Israel in supposed to just die and offer aid to the aggressor.

The left wing Australian government also voted for this ceasefire, scum that they are. They are out to keep the Muslim vote and the trendy, far left inner-city types happy. Well, it’s a democracy and this mob of idiots are what the Australian people voted for at the last election. There was a poll the other day where the Greens, complete lunatics on all policies, had 15% support. I think it was 12% the poll before that. People out here seem to be getting more and more stupid. Greens’ policies would destroy the economy of Australia and have everybody living in poverty in no time at all.
jaime says
The right leaning party in Canada has been way up in the polls and they got there by fighting the carbon tax. However the last 2 weeks they have been voting against most want just to make a point they won’t support the gov.
tim gallagher says
Here in Australia, jaime, on many issues the Labor government are not going well lately and many commentators are thinking that they may lose the next election (still a fair way off) and be a one term government. So that is a good thing. The current Labor government are on the nose and they dropped some points in that poll I mentioned, but then I was stunned to see that the Greens were getting more support. The Greens have far left policies on everything. I said to a fellow conservative friend of mine, how are these people going to feel when they end up living in poverty, something they have never known before, because the Greens’ policies have wrecked the economy in endless ways? Hopefully, many people wake the hell up soon.

I was shocked when this Australian government moved its embassy from Jerusalem back to Tel Aviv. At that point, Israel should have told them to pack up & leave. Or maybe move their own embassy in Australia from Canberra to Perth, to make it really inconvenient whenever the foreign office needed to talk to the Israeli embassy in person
Incidentally, I am fascinated how New Zealand, out of left field (pun not intended) has suddenly elected Conservatives. Hopefully, Australia & Canada will follow
tim gallagher says
In no way was I surprised, Infidel, when this left wing Australian Labor government moved the embassy or anything else these left dominated Marxist shitheads do. Some previous Labor governments have been dominated by the right wing of the Labor Party and some commentators make the point that Bob Hawke, as Labor Prime Minister in 1980s and 90s was strongly pro-Israel. These days the left wing wankers are dominant, inclduing the Prime Minister< Anthony Albanese, who has always been a far left wanker. Of course, i would never vote for any of these creatures, but, hey, it's a democracy and the fools here in Australia voted them in. There is a former Labor member of parliament, Michael Danby, who makes more sense than any Labor guy I've heard, and is Jewish, and he often makes this point about how the problem is that the left are now dominant in the party. Naturally, most of them support the Palestinians and hate israel as the fashionable left wankers do. On New Zealand, well I think they had seen enough of Ardern, the left wing wanker and her type of government and voted for a change. I hope the same happens here in Australia before the place is completely destroyed by the idiots in charge these days.

Canada under Trudeau has arguably sunk even lower than America under Biden (reasonable minds can of course differ here but that both nations have suffered under Trudeau and Biden simply cannot be disagreed with by any reasonable mind).
I have long esteemed Canada, and since boyhood have visited this magnificent and successful nation many times. From early years onwards I have conveyed to not a few people that if I could not be an American, I would want to be a Canadian.
America is, historically, fortunate to have Canada as its northern neighbor just as Canada, historically, is fortunate to have America as its southern neighbor (they still have the longest militarily unprotected border in the world between two nations since the Convention of 1818 though I believe this might need to change). If ever two nations could be friends, rather than just having interests, no better paradigm in history could be designed here than that of Canada and the USA.
But much of this has depended on wise, decent and informed people leading these two countries. Well, that’s no more, now is it?
Nations cannot continue to succeed with unwise and foolish leaders. Sure the case now with America and Canada, no? Verdict still out but not if doofuses like Trudeau and Biden and their types keep leading these two historically great polities. Guaranteed.
jaime says
The issue you put troops at the border you would turn manyAmerican cities and towns into ghost towns as they depend heavy on Canadians coming over to buy goods etc,.
Wellington says
jaime: I would risk that as opposed to what Governor John Sununu of New Hampshire just said this week (and I am no big fan of him but he is correct in this regard) and that is that Canada under Trudeau has become a safe haven for terrorists and thus America now has, literally, more on the US terror watch list coming over the northern border than even the southern border (and do you even know this?).
Sometimes, you know, economic matters, important as they are, still should take second place to pure safety issues. Your turn if you care.
jaime says
As for more coming from the Northern been there have been conflicting reports on that from both sides.Put it this way if the states cut off all trades with Canada and Mexico they lose become the new Russia as very few in the world would deal with them.Ney Ork gets 40% of its power from Quebec the states gets 30% of oil from Canada point is they would be in massive trouble by cutting off all trades.Just as big as they would lose access to Alaska as to access it via raods you need to go into Canada.
Wellington says
jaime: Surely you comprehend that Canada and Mexico need America more than America needs these two nations. Yes, at least you can comprehend this much, can’t you?
No polity in history could be more self-sustaining than America could be if it weren’t run by idiots, which it presently pretty much is.
But minus this “idiot factor,” do you agree here? Hope so. If you have a “more favored nation here,” please convey to me what that nation is? Your turn.
As for access to Alaska, be assured America at its best could build new roads or other “avenues” to access Alaskan energy resources. Surely you grasp at least this much. Hope so.
WPM says
I think Biden is being controlled by his Marxist ex-President (Thinks he is Moses going lead America to the new 10 commandments of Woke idiocy) Obama. Trudeau is a woke idiot ,who like to play dress up and enjoys the hate he has for the average Canadian citizen ,and his personal dream to have the powers the leaders in China have over their people Of the two I think Trudeau is the more dangerous leader he is not demented and dulled in senses as Biden ,Canadian having a smaller population would be easier to herd and control .Biden will be dead in the next 5 or 6 years ( is very far along the to being totally demented ) his dream is spend last days eating ice cream and feeling up young nurses. Trudeau will gladly sell Canadian resources off to China ,he is young and healthy and a better salesman for his Chinese overlords ..

Interestingly, after 22 months, no calls for a “humanitarian cease-fire” in Ukraine – Bidenites just shovel them more money…
somehistory says
James, biden is saying he will send illegals on their way…without checking them, without admitting them, etc. if…if….congress will shovel more money to ukraine.
so he’ll allow the Law to be followed on the Southern Border if he can send more to the corrupt in ukraine. He must be getting a kickback.
Wellington says
Agreed, James, while all the while with Bidenites being a giant collective hypocrite where Ukraine v. Israel are concerned.
Yes, unlimited funds to Ukraine, no accountability necessary, but with Israel, a far more moral polity than Ukraine, the bogus Biden Administration continues to engage in what former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, calls “schizophrenic diplomacy,” whereby Biden and his handlers say one thing in support of Israel but then at various other venues trash Israel. So glad FDR didn’t engage in this rubbish during WWII with Germany and Japan. But this rubbish is sure going on now courtesy of the bogus Biden Administration (and why, again, still anyone defending their ACTUAL vote for Biden in 2020 marks such a person as a terminal fool).
For the record, I still support Ukraine over Russia. Easy call and Putin has made Russia into as much of an evil nation as Iran under a plethora of deluded Mo followers (whether Shiite or Sunni makes no difference per the Islamic world because both are drags upon humanity advancing to a better state), but accountability is an imperative AND as much as I want Ukraine’s borders kept in tact against the iniquitous Putin, I consider America’s borders even more important—far, far more important. Biden and his his handers do not. No they don’t. Eff ’em all.
And besides, if Trump were still President, rather than the weakling who is Biden, Putin would not have invaded Ukraine proper in the first place. This too will be lost on many, including not only Leftists, and wishy-washy moderates, but also many RINOs like Bolton, Will, Kristol, McConnell and, yes too, Niki Haley, who has wrong written all over her. She’s just another McCain or Romney and God spare America such woeful people. But I digress.
James Lincoln says
We agree, Wellington.
The big “take home” being that Russia would have never invaded Ukraine on Trump’s watch.
Under Biden, the dead bodies just keep piling up…
jaime says
As for troops at the Northern border the States will never do that part of the reason is they would bankrupt most of there towns and cities but they other big thing is they would lose access to Alaska.
tgusa says
Hey imbeciles, rape torture and murder are not humanitarian acts. Go suck an egg liberal Canadian trash.
Wellington says
I 100% agree, tgusa. But here is the problem: In Muslimworld, what I often call Islamthink, rape, torture and murder are just fine, actually perversely per Mo Think they ARE humanitarian.
This all points again to the MAIN problem and that is that as long as Islam is NOT characterized as innately and irredeemably evil, then games, smoke and mirrors, and so much else which is wrong and wicked, will continue. Only a few tactical victories here and there against the worst of Muslims will occur while not dealing with Islam in toto.
And the chief culprit in all of this malevolence? Bitterly ironically it is not Islam, bad enough as it is. Islam is the “secondary culprit.” The primary culprit is that portion of the non-Islamic world which keeps making one pathetic excuse after another for Islam. Yes, the exculpation of evil is nine times out of ten worse than evil itself—as exampled by continued excuses for Islam.
Will man ever learn here? Perhaps, but only after every other excuse for Islam has been explored (and failed) will mankind in the aggregate conclude that Islam represents just about the greatest error over the longest period of time in man’s history. And this in and of itself is not a given, only a probability. Beyond sad. In the utterly tragic realm.
tgusa says
I can’t disagree with anything you wrote Wellington. 100% nailed it.
James Lincoln says
Yes, tgusa.

It irks me to no end that all of these Israel bashers in the UN, the press, etc. keep forgetting that there has been an easy way to put an end to the hostilities in Gaza all along: release and return the hostages taken by Hamas. This has been the clear formula, stated by Netanyahu: We will keep going until all the hostages are returned. . . . Want to let Gazans return to their homes? Return the hostages. Prevent a humanitarian crisis among Palestinians? Return the hostages. Stop bombing cities in Gaza? Return the hostages. It is all on Hamas’ shoulders, and it has been since October 7. The UN, Reuters, and anyone who truly cares about the future prospects for a Palestinian state should be condemning Hamas for this entire debacle–and pressuring them to do the one thing that would change the current situation: Return the hostages.
James Lincoln says
Lyone Fein,
Even if Hamas releases all the hostages, the IDF still needs to completely eradicate Hamas – and totally take back control of Gaza.
If the IDF does not do this, another “October 7th style attack” will happen again.
Jim says
Liberals seem to want to follow a scheme that makes them the ones with the solutions. They want the opponents to be mirror images of each other, and the one siode is no better or worse than the other. And the solutions are easy. IsreaL rejects them BECAUSE it is trying to defend itself, and hAMAS IS NOT GOOD. But the left ignores the reality in order to defend the scheme. That is why they always claim that a two state solution would work. There could be a truce now, because somehow Hamas would stop its Oct 7 attacks, even if they claim they want more of them. But they will probably never stop. And there is no mirror image either. Hamas is not the same as Israel, and Israel is not committing genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, occupation, imperialism or stealing the rightful land of Palestinians. Palestinians were not in Israel for thousands of years, they are not even a single ethnic group or nation, they are not more than fifty years old as a group with that name. So it is all wrong, but the Canadians, like good liberals, have to believe in their scheme and condemn Israel. They had a good conservative PM and they rejected him for a phony far left fanatic. I suppose that Trudeau gives them a feeling of moral betterness which is more comforting than being realistic conservatives.
David Fahey says
I am Canadian and I am utterly disgusted at the actions and policies of the Trudeau-NDP coalition and their anti-Western woke agenda. Fortunately, Canada is still a functional democracy, and if its citizens have not totally lost their senses, the Trudeau-NDP embarrassment will be shown the door at the next general election and a common sense Conservative government will take over. In the meantime, for what is was worth (I honestly don’t think Trudeau, Joly, or Rae will actually read it), I emailed them to tell them what I thought of Canada’s vote in the UNGA. Note that at least two Liberal Members of Parliament have openly broken with the government’s decision and publicly stated their opposition to it.

Canadian Delegation to UN: for Mr Bob Rae
Dear Sirs and Madam,
With Canada’s vote in the UN General Assembly to support a resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and HAMAS, you were presented with an opportunity to display courage and integrity and have failed miserably.
Supporting such a resolution in the UN, which is grossly biased against Israel, shows you to be nothing more than “useful idiots” in the war by Islamic terrorist groups against Israel and the West.
HAMAS is dedicated to the extermination of Israel and the Jewish people, and HAMAS is entirely responsible for the current conflict. To suggest otherwise is nothing less than a grotesque betrayal of Canada’s values, history, and even our laws. HAMAS is an internationally prescribed terrorist organization, and by supporting this resolution, Canada has given HAMAS moral comfort. Would you have supported a call for a ceasefire in early 1945 when the Allies had Hitler on the run? Given your recent vote, I would have to assume the answer would have been “yes”.
Thankfully, at least two of your caucus understand the truth.
Sincerely,
David

If people really want to get a taste of what Islam decrees for those who identify as Jewish, they should go to “Andrew Bostom: “The Rising Scourge of Islamic Antisemitism” 4 years ago – on Youtube,
( youtube.com/watch?v=I_JRTxw0DFY ) and then marvel at just how long a fuse Israel and the Jews actually have – till finally after 1400 years of living under the shadow of Koranic abuse, enough is enough!! Canada can start by forbidding the practice of Islamic live animal sacrifice which launches their children into the world of desensitization, from whence they can commit atrocities without empathy and compassion as they grow into good Jihadis.
According to lectures by Sam Solomon where Islam is actually a complete System like Communism, Nazi-ism, we can’t look at Jihadis as rogue members of their System. They are actually the orthodox army – as disjointed as it is – and disperses itself throughout the world ready to impose Sharia on all.
Canada is on the slitting block as long as Trudeau has agreed to accept a gross percentage of Biden’s unvetted Border Misfits and who won’t come vaccinated – explain that to the Freedom Convoy!! – although we know that mandatory COVID vax was a scientific malpractice.
