4 lakhs went for foreign employment in seven months

Kathmandu, Feb 15: According to the Department of Foreign Employment, 4,05,552 Nepalis took work permits for foreign employment in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY).

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the spot of choice for seeking work permits for foreign employment among the other countries.

The department informed that 1,01461 took work permits for UAE. While Qatar is the second spot of choice for foreign employment. The data showed that 80,724 have gone to Qatar for foreign employment. 

Besides, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are spotted as the third and fourth most seeking foreign employment choice. For Saudi Arabia, 78,662 have taken work permits and 56,559 have taken work permits for Malaysia.

Dandu Raj Ghimire, the Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, said that the UAE is the first choice for foreign job seekers. In the previous year, Malaysia was the first choice. 

Nepal Rastra Bank data showed that remittance started to rise with the increase in foreign employment seekers.

NRB data showed that Rs 733.22 billion remittance was recorded in the first six months of the current FY. In the same period of the previous FY, Rs 585.07 billion remittance was recorded.
