EngineEars is a startup helping musicians to find, book and pay recording studios and audio engineers. It was founded by one of the latter, Derek ‘MixedByAli’ Ali, who has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Roddy Ricch and Childish Gambino.

Now the company has raised $7.5m of funding to continue its growth. Investment firm Drive Capital led the round, but Lamar and Ricch were among the artists also participating in the funding. YG, DJ Khaled, Mustard and Russ also contributed to the round.

“Audio engineers are the conduit to the music industry. We are the ones that hold the relationships with the artists, the managers, and the producers. So, why is it that we have to have 15 different tools to manage our business?” is Ali’s pitch for the company’s all-in-one value.

“Naturally, the next step will be distribution. We want to plug in and be able to take an artist all the way from inception all the way to distribution under one roof as well as other AI tools for music collaborators and music professionals.”
