  • Police in eastern Germany have arrested two Afghan nationals suspected of planning an attack against the Swedish Riksdag, German media reports.

  • According to the German federal prosecutor's office, the suspects have links to the Islamic State terror group. They are alleged to have been planning to open fire on police officers and others in or near the Riksdag, in retaliation for last year's Quran burning demonstrations.

  • Sweden's police and the intelligence service Säpo have not commented on the reports from Germany.
