Mohamed Abdou is the latest moral monster to slither through the underbrush on Morningside Heights: “He Endorsed Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Then He Landed a Professorship at Columbia University.” By Jessica Costescu, Washington Free Beacon, February 27, 2024:
At Columbia Law School, for example, administrators stood by in November as anti-Israel protesters took over the school’s lobby in an unauthorized protest that disrupted classes for hours. Roughly one month later, a Columbia student group announced an event honoring the “significance of the Oct. 7 Palestinian counteroffensive.” Similar demonstrations have plagued the school’s ongoing spring semester—last month, students chanted for an “intifada” against Jews during a campus rally….
Spineless wonders, these administrators. They did not dare to call the police to clear the Law School’s lobby when it was crowded with pro-Hamas protesters who “disrupted classes for hours.” What were they afraid of? If the students had become violent when being hauled away, that’s all the more reason to have called the campus police. Or better still, the Columbia administrators ought to have called in the no-nonsense NYPD, whose men would not have hesitated to sweep the lobby clean of those protesters, so that the students who wanted to attend class could do so.
Abdou describes himself at his website as “an interdisciplinary scholar of indigenous, Black, critical race, and Islamic studies.” No surprise here, either, except why did Abdou leave out “Queer studies” from his predictably ludicrous witches’ brew?
During a November interview on “Islam and Anarchism,” Abdou praised Hamas terrorists for being “really … organized” on Oct. 7, calling on anti-Israel activists around the world to adopt their tactics.
They were “really…organized,” which is an admirable trait, according to Mohamed Abdou. Surely it depends on what you were “organized” for? If you are “organized” to engage in mass murder, perhaps it’s not quite so winning. Think of those well-organized SS men in the death camps who kept careful accounts of who was killed, with name, age, tattooed number, and, of course, “valuables taken.” But we can’t all be as well-organized as the jackbooted leather-jacketed heil-hitlering Germans. Hamas’ invasion force split into two groups, in what Mohamed Abdou would praise as” nicely organized fashion.” One group of killers went after those leaving the rave dance party, to pick off the exhausted or sleeping dancers one by one, and another group drove to the kibbutzim to perform their ghastly deeds of rape, torture, and mass murder.
The warriors, the resistance fighters that were in Hamas, numbered less than 1,500 [no, there were 3,000] and look how they flipped the table—not only on an entire settler colonial state with no definable borders, but rather on the whole world,” he said. “You don’t need mass movements to change the world. You need a dedicated thousand, 1,500, a few thousand, that really are organized and know what it is that they’re doing, what they’re fighting for.”
Yes, that “dedicated” group of Hamas killers certainly changed the world. But not for the better. They brought pain to the Israelis, but also made the people of Gaza much worse off. The result of their murderous excursion on October 7 has been thousands of dead Gazans and even more wounded, while the Strip itself lies in ruins, with an estimated $90 billion in damage to infrastructure. That isn’t what Hamas had in mind when it planned the October 7 pogrom.
Yahya Sinwar, head of Hamas’ military wing in Gaza, never imagined Israel’s reaction would be like this, the launching of a full-scale invasion of Gaza to destroy Hamas as a fighting force. Sinwar figured that the Israelis would bomb dozens, or even hundreds of sites in Gaza, but not enter Gaza with hundreds of thousands of troops as the IDF did, bombing Hamas targets up and down the land from Gaza City in the north to Rafah in the south. Nor did Sinwar think that the Israelis would manage to uncover and destroy hundreds of its elaborate tunnels and many thousands of the entrances to those tunnels. He failed to realize that. after October 7, the country that on October 6 had been bitterly divided over the judicial reform proposal, immediately united in fury at what Hamas had done. 360,000 IDF reservists promptly left their jobs and studies and showed up at once to fight Hamas; thousands of Israelis studying or working abroad flew back to join the fight. How unfair of the IDF, Yahya Sinwar thinks, as he continues to scurry hither and yon in the tunnel network under Rafah, like a rat who knows he’s about to be cornered.

Those Columbia law degrees aren’t going to be worth much.

I was proud of my Barnard/Columbia degree. My mother was proud of her Columbia graduate school degree. I am ashamed of my alma mater. If I were of college age today I certainly would not consider Barnard or Columbia. I do not even know where in the USA or in the West I would choose to go. Perhaps the University of Florida, which got rid of its DEI department and fired all hires.
Back when I had the grades and. the scores to qualify me for an elite school,a state school like Florida would not have been a consideration.
A college education now is not what it was when I was applying to colleges decades ago.
A dreadful comment on the state of American and Western education

Back when I was in college in the late 1990’s, I was in the men’s room taking a dump. On the wall of the washroom stall, there was some graffiti which had an arrow pointing to the roll of toilet paper, and which read “Free bachelor of arts degrees: wipe to develop.”
Of course, they were being facetious; liberal arts degrees had some value back then. However, if a university as prestigious and storied as Columbia can hire a vile Islamofascist genocidaire like this guy, one might as well go to a college run by and staffed with Klansmen and neo-Nazis.

Of course he does. It wasn’t his head that was hacked off or his body that was gleefully tortured, burned, mutilated, and sexually defiled before and after death. Mohamed Abdou is a despicable and evil human being.

Despicable low life Islamists hired by our major universities-shameful!
The US has been bought and sold by Gulf state oil. They have been working tirelessly through Muslim Brotherhood student organizations and “Mideast studies” to demonize both Israel and the United States for decades now. Our future is bleak with the upcoming generation so brainwashed.

Cynthia,
To your point, it’s very difficult “unbrainwash” someone who has been brainwashed.

MUSLIMS love Murderers, as long as the Murderers aren’t murdering Muslims..
Mike says
Sometimes they like murderers who kill rival groups of Muslims whom they disagree with and whom they consider heretics, hypocrites or apostates…Islam can be very sectarian at times, like Christianity used to be (and still is a bit, though not nearly as much as it used to be).

Why do American Universities have islamic studies or Middle East Studies when there are certainly no Western Studies or Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist studies in any islamic Universities around the World as far as I know.
The West has invited and embraced the Fox into the Chicken Coop thinking this is a good thing for society at large, meanwhile muslims around the World are laughing their asses off at the weakness of Western men and some muslim men in Malaysia have told me this.
One young muslim guy in Malaysia a few years ago asked me if it was true that all the men in the West were Gay.. Once I stopped laughing and noticed he was in fact serious I asked him how he came to such a incredibly insane notion, he was puzzled by my reply and answered… ”Well it looks to me like you guys dont seem to stand up for what you believe in”… He certainly has a good point as he thinks we are all girly men in a dress and lipstick… I wonder where he got that idea from…
