Taking her was a means to an end. The task was to weed out the man who had stolen millions from us. He may have succeeded, but he’d pay with his life. Hiding from us was a grave error he’d regret soon enough because once he found out that we had taken the one thing he cared for as repayment- he’d show up. When a man had a weakness, it was foolish to make a mistake like this. He would come for her, and when he did, he wouldn’t walk away unscathed, nor would the sister he adored.

This was my fault. I hadn’t seen his scheme. It was my mistake, so I had to fix it. However, it seemed the joke was on me. What I had thought would be an easy job proved more difficult than I’d imagined. I had underestimated the power of her big brown eyes, full lips, and sweet, sultry voice. Keeping my focus on torturing information from her- when what I really wanted to do was touch her, have her, own her- would not only be a painful obstacle but possibly my biggest failure.

Except she hated the sight of me.
But I couldn’t blame her.
I’d walked out of her nightmares as her own personal monster.

And just like that, Oz moves to my number one spot, for book boyfriends written by Abbi Glines. He is the perfect amount of sweet and crazy, when it comes to Winslet. For me this series just keeps getting better and better, I hope it never ends.

Mixed feelings

The book started off differently than what I'm used to from this series. It started off good with Oz and the gang after a person who fooled them with counterfeit money. They have no clue where to find him and decide that Oz will kidnap his sister Winslet in order to draw him out. She refuses to believe that her brother Perry would ever do anything like what he's been accused of. After Oz returns Winslet back to her apartment, he becomes obsessed with her. That's when it becomes creepy. By stalking her, it's causing Winslet to feel like she is going crazy. There was a major twist that I never would have guessed. The ending felt rushed. I liked Winslet but Oz let me down.

Abbi Glines continues her Southern Mafia series with Oh, Hell No, book #3 of the Mississippi Smoke series featuring Oz!

Oz is a bit of a mystery. Best friend to Bane and runs the betting/book making end for the Mississippi Mafia. Things get tense when it is discovered that 4 million counterfeit dollars were run through their betting operations.

Taking her was a means to an end. The task was to weed out the man who had stolen millions from us. He may have succeeded, but he’d pay with his life.

Oz was not prepared for Winslet. She is genuine, tough and loyal. He becomes captivated with her. I loved her! Oz and Winslet's story was a bit of a slow burn. I loved getting to know them and watching Oz come full circle. Winslet has a deep back story that brings out the protector in Oz. There are also cameos from other characters from the previous books including Father Jude! Also a surprise twist at the end that was unexpected.

I have loved everything about the Mississippi Smoke series. It is filled with lots of sexy, alpha, obsessed, possessive men. I love it when they go off the deep end! It is addicting, sexy, and smoking hot. I read Oh, Hell No, in one day! I can't wait to see who will be next!

Abbi Glines is writing for the fans! She is releasing many more books in all of the new series. Many are on KU and more are coming! I am so excited! They are my go-to for spicy, mafia/MC romance!

Mississippi Smoke book three focuses on Oz Savelle, whom we don't know much about at this point in the series, so I had no idea what to expect from his story but was pleasantly surprised by who he is.
Winslet has always been her younger brothers, Perry, protector and when he incidentally stole four million dollars from the Mafia, he left his sister vulnerable to being taken hostage.
Oz was tasked with kidnapping Winslet and getting information on Perry's whereabouts which he didn't think he'd have any problems with getting from a soft, beautiful second grade teacher, however, Winslet tested his resolve at every turn. Oz, an adonis in his own right, folded like a lawn chair. There is nothing quite like a man who would scorch earth for his woman, and Oz is no exception. Leave your morals at the door and put on your rose colored glasses cause all these red flags just look like a good time from here.

"I’ve never taken it slow with a female in my life because I have never cared to find out anything about her. With you, I can’t seem to get enough. I want to know every fucking detail. What you’re thinking, what it is you need, what you want, what makes you smile, what makes those gorgeous eyes of yours fucking twinkle,"

Oz is a bad boy with big heart that was just waiting for his other half. He knew he did "bad" things, but for "good" reasons.

Winzy was just walking thorugh life with no one to worry about but her brother, Perry.

When good meets bad under less than optimistic circumstances thanks to Perry, the fun begins.

"The word owned took on a new meaning"

So much tea to share but don't worry you'll get no spoilers from me
You are going to want to experience every "Oh hell no you didn't" moment for yourself so if you are a review reader before you decide - be careful

So our Oz was tasked with getting information from a certain gal, Winslet.
Not his usual assignment but this mess was his fault in so many ways, so he really couldn't argue.
Just from looking at her picture, he could tell she would be materialistic and easy to break. This wouldn't take long
He was no stranger to sexy women using their wiles to get away with just about everything.
And he was ready for it.

What he wasn't ready for?
Winslet
A gal who had no issues with rough treatment.
Who didn't break under his harsh conditions.
Who made him question his methods of information extraction.

His newest obsession

"that would have broken her, and I didnt like to see beautiful things broken"
I can not rave enough about how much I enjoyed these two!!
The way Oz just kept digging himself deeper into stalker territory when it came to her
Heart melt <3

"standing in the shadows of your life wasn't enough anymore."
I was waiting to see how this was going to play out, and I was not disappointed. Our sweet Winslet did not just accept and forget. She took the time to process and weigh each sin.
The way Glines played this out - even my teddy had a moment

There were some twists that I did not see coming
One was a soul-shredding revelation
A response (I'm trying not to spoil) I thought was a betrayal turned out to be a whole lot more
There were some great comeuppance moments - a bunch of prudes got their justice
The ex...... ewww girl what were you thinking that boy was all brawn and no brain

Some of my favorite moments in no certain order:

"I got you"
I need a hug!!!
This moment ...
Oz may have won my heart here as well as brought those pesky tears pool in my eyes

"I had my defenses ready to go, and God help if she tried to shut me out. Abduction round two was not out of the questions"

"I was never going to be the same. Not after Oz."
- that makes two of us

"This is a lot of destruction you're about to rain down on numerous people because they made Winslet cry"
-owned heart and soul

There are more but we would be here for days :)

A must-read series
Glines does a great job of bringing her characters to life in stories that draw the reader in and keep them engaged and guessing from the first page to the last.

This is the third book in this phenomenal series, and this is Oz and Winslet’s story.
Winslet is quirky, loving, good girl, who cares deeply for other, but she has had a tough life being brought up by an abusive, alcoholic mother, leaving her to protect her younger brother for years. When her brother Perry’s counterfeit money scheme has him caught on the wrong side of the southern mafia, Winsley finds herself kidnapped by Oz, who keeps her in a basement while he demands answers as to where Perry is.
This is a well written, easy to read, fast paced, slow burn story, with family, friendships, emotions, humor, regrets, challenges, vengeance, undeniable chemistry, forgiveness, forced proximity, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and endearing, addictive page tuner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Oh hell yes!
Abbi Glines is back with the 3rd book in the Mississippi Smoke series and this is hands down my favourite one so far! The author is back on her game with Oz and Winslet’s story and we get a little crazy, a little obsession (ok, a lot) and a story I couldn’t put down.

We delve further into the Mississippi mafia crew with Oz - how far will you go to protect the other half of your soul? There are no words for Oz, I loved him and he may be my favourite so far!

Oh, Hell No is the third book in the Mississippi Smoke series by Abbi Glines. It's a Mafia romance, and it's another fantastic read in this series! Oz and Winslet's chemistry had sparks flying all over the place from the moment they met, and their relationship progressed so naturally and realistically. I love this author's writing, and the story was absolutely flawless! This whole series is a must-read, and it's highly recommended with way more than five stars!

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

I can not express enough how much I love the Mississippi Branch in this southern Mafia series. I've loved these books she's been writing since the beginning in the Florida branch, but they are getting darker and darker the more she writes the different branches. The Mississippi branch, this branch being the darkest so far.

You've got stalking at its finest in this book, and that's after he kidnapped her, starved her, held a 🔫 on her, and choked her to the point she became scared of him (a little bit), then let her go. Only to think about her like crazy and stalk her, break in her house while she's sleeping and doing some other questionable things. I was obsessed with this book!

Tropes:
🖤 Southern Mafia Romance
🩷 Stalking/Spying
🖤 Touch Her & ☠️
🩷 Kidnapping
🖤 Obsessed/Possessive MMC
🩷 Traumatic Past
🖤 Twist & Turns
🩷 Slow Burn
🖤 Jealousy

This book started with Oz finding out he was screwed over by counterfeit money in his illegal betting ring. The big bosses in the mafia convenienced him to kidnap the sister of the guy who screwed him over. That his sister must know something and use all these methods to get her to talk.

I was baffled at first because their whole thing on the other books was, "We don't hurt women." So this book was showing a different light on the big bosses. They were screwed out of a lot of money, though. Four million, to be exact.

We've met Oz in the last two books in the Mississippi branch. He's best friends with Bane, whose book was Tore Up. Oz is the quiet type who handled the gambling ring. I was always curious about Oz and wanted to know more. Well, we get to know him better in this book. How's he doesn't really want to hurt a woman, but was just doing a job. He didn't really do that job like he was supposed to, but there were moments where I was like, "No, what are you thinking Oz?"

Then you have Winslet, or Winzey, who is innocent in all of this. The only crime she committed was being the sister of this crazy genius that got over in the mafia for 4 million. She couldn't even believe her brother did any of this. Thinking they had the wrong guy, it was thinking about the wrong guy.

Winslet was the protector of her brother, Perry, his whole life. They came from a horrible home life, and Winslet protected her brother, always. She always believed the best in him, and he could do no wrong. Even after he was caught and everything, she still had a hard time accepting things even though they were brought to life. Boy, was that a whole twist at the end.

Oz took one look at Winslet and was hooked, sunk. Like all the men in this series, he became obsessed. Oz had a job to do, though, and had to show his mean side to her even though it really bothered him. He was kind of sick between a rock and a hard place. Having a job that he was told to do, daily, and not wanting to do it or hurt her, because he truly believed she didn't know anything. Can I just throw in there that I was shocked at Linc!! Even recommending what he did was a shocker. Made me see him in a new light.

After Winslet was let go, both of these characters couldn't get the other one off their mind. She was attracted to Oz big time, but thought he passed red flags and jumped to black ones. Oz became obsessed and decided that stalking was what he needed to do. Breaking in, setting up cameras, and watching her sleep. I know, hot, right? All the darkness in one hot guy with slate gray eyes. Can I also say that I loved what she named her s3x toy!

These two coming together took a while. You don't have a book filled with spicy scenes between the two. It is a slow burn with a lot of angst. You do have scenes of them playing with themselves, but it was a book more about the plot. Then, about a man that would do anything to make sure the woman he was stalking didn't get hurt and would do anything to fix her problems.

Now, I did not like the ending. Like most of the books in the Mississippi branch, I wanted more, needed more. It just seemed to have ended abruptly. There was a huge twist and turn scene that I really didn't see coming, and then bam, she's back with Oz. I wanted more of these two together. Yes, we know how crazy Oz could be over Winslet. We know how strong-willed Winslet could be when it came to Oz. But it didn't have a lot of these two together as an actual thing. It didn't have how she dealt with learning about her brother, then to moving in with Oz. It like skipped a bunch in between. I just wanted more of these two and felt the book lacked because of it.

I still recommend this book and every book in this series. This can be read as a standalone, but I would definitely start all the way back at the beginning with the Florida branch in book one, Smokeshow. You will hear about "The Boss" in every book you read in her mafia series, and that is Blaise Hughes. His book is books 1 & 2 in the Smoke Series. It doesn't matter what branch you read, whether it's Georgia or Mississippi. I'm sure Louisiana and Alabama are coming soon, but Florida is the main headquarters for the boss and his crew. That series is amazing.

I would recommend all of these books to anyone who is looking for mafia based romance with spicy, obsessed men who will do anything for the woman they love. Plus, all her mafia men are dirty talkers and very vocal 😉😉

There are a handful of authors who can successfully write a Mafia romance and have it be intense, frightening, and violent while also tender, sweet and heartwarming at the same time. Abbi Glines is one of those authors. Oh, Hell No is the third book in her Mississippi Smoke Series and it has that hard edge of suspense, revenge and rules that must never by broken, a code followed without a second thought or qualm by tough men (or women) – those same tough men (or women) who fall helplessly, hopeless, goofily in love with someone. Sweet, tender adoration and protectiveness that knows no bounds is an interesting combination.

We first meet Winslet Gerard when she’s eleven years old, doing what she’s always done: trying to protect her little brother Perry from their violent, alcoholic mother who abuses them regularly but has a special viciousness for seven-year-old Perry. If they survive, what will this small, timid little boy’s life be?

Well, skip ahead about a dozen years, and what Perry has become is a 21-year-old millionaire tech nerd CEO of his own company who has just been found stealing from the Mississippi Mafia. He’s still small, but maybe he’s not so timid anymore. He’s in serious trouble, and not just for himself.

Perry disappears; lots of talk about who let this happen, whose fault this is, but bottom line is that Oz Savelle has been ordered to kidnap Winslet, incentive for Perry to reappear. At twenty-three she’s just ended a 2-year relationship with a man who proved how shallow he was when he became a football star. Not interested in another relationship she’s happy enough with her tiny apartment and quiet life as a second-grade teacher at a Christian school (which turns out to be full of vipers, btw). To her, Perry is still her little brother who needs protection, who’s just a nerd. So of course she can’t believe he could have stolen anything.

Big surprise for Winslet. And there’s another one: the fact that she is so drawn to her super-hot kidnapper. What is wrong with her? Has she been brainwashed already? And there are lots of surprises to go around, like the fact that Oz finds her beautiful, intriguing and believes her totally innocent of any knowledge of her brother’s wrong-doing. And as each day passes he feels more and more guilty about keeping her captive, withholding food and water, and dreads what he may have to do next. He is not going to go against “The Family” but what is wrong with him? How can this woman so unlike any he is ever attracted to or spends time with suddenly take over his every thought?

The rest of Oh, Hell No is nothing but a non-stop treat. Abbi Glines has a wicked sense of humor and it is on full display here. Even after she’s released, Winslet can’t stop thinking about Oz and names “something” after him. His Mafia training is excellent and he puts it to good use “protecting” her. Funny scenes but with a serious undertone, feelings that are so strong and seem so real. And so confounding, because how can this ever work out?

Along with that wicked sense of humor, author Glines also has a talent for captivating subplots, characters with depth and fascinating backstories, and some truly scary stuff. Not to mention the stunning surprise you will never, ever see coming.

Thanks to the author for providing an advance reading copy of Oh, Hell No via Wordsmith Publicity. It is every bit as compelling as Hotter ‘N Hell, the second book in the series, and Tore Up, the start of it all, is at the top of my TBR stack. I was kept guessing throughout and could not imagine a happy ending for Oz and Winslet because how could Perry NOT be killed? It was great being reunited with characters from the previous book and reading the family “Bible” at the beginning listing all the family ties and branches. A lot of Abbi Glines reading ahead for me. And lest you think I forgot the heat – yes, there is lots and lots and lots of steamy, swoony, heat! I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

I had always enjoyed art, and she was a masterpiece. One that I needed to see every night.

I don't know what sort of crack Abbi laces her books with but I gobble them up each and every single time. Southern mafia? Yes, please and thank you. And this 3rd installment of the series spinoff may have been my favorite so far. I absolutely loved Oz and Winslet!

Now if you've read any books in this series, then you already know Abbi's formula of sweet souther females with their absolutely unhinged and morally grey men. And you know what? It works and it works well. If this series is 10586 books with 209485 spinoffs, I will never tire of it. But Oz? I think Oz just flew straight to my favorite MMCs of Abbi's.

Winslet may be the quintessential good girl, but she's not a pushover. This is woman who cares about others and does so deeply. But she doesn't allow herself to be stepped on either. Growing up with an abusive alcoholic of a mother, her life has been anything but easy. She's spent years protecting her younger brother from her mother's drunken wrath, even at the expense of her own safety.

Perry, her younger brother, and now an entrepreneur genius is apparently not all who he seems. And when his counterfeit money lands him on the wrong side of the souther mafia, Winslet finds herself kidnapped and held in a basement for answers. And her kidnapper being the sexiest man she's ever seen certainly doesn't help matters.

Now when I tell you I loved Oz, I was obsessed. Sure, he kidnapped her. But when he was forced to torture her for answers, the man just couldn't do it. The way he struggled to so much as withhold food from her and then gave her all the chocolate cake was seriously the most endearing thing. And then when he lets her go and essentially stalks her for weeks as he waits out her to have the time to forgive him was just adorable. He was this perfect combination of sweet and crazy, and I loved his unhinged possessive behavior towards her.

The story was quick paced, addictive, and a slow burn that sizzles so hard. I do recommend you suspend your disbelief with this series and just accept it for the good time that it is.

Oh, Hell YES to Oz, he belongs in my stable of my favourite book boyfriends. This book is a standalone, and the families crossover amongst series, so following this on the back of reading Hotter Than Hell (which I equally loved) meant that the "players" (and there is quite a few, how does Abbi keep on top of them) crossed over to this. As with each book, there is a clear list of all the families. but Oz has become a standout of extremely morally gray, truly alpha/possessive and all things stalking that I love.

Our FMC, Winslet, is on Oz's radar because of her brother Perry. Perry has been implicated in stealing money from the family, but because Perry is conveniently off grid, taking something precious to him to weed him out falls to Oz kidnapping his sister. During the book there is significant insight into what childhood was like for Winslet and Perry, and as a result, what Oz thinks about this whole kidnapping and holding in the basement, does not sit well with him, a feeling he is not used too. And to Oz, Winslet is captivating him with her strength and the fact she is not allowing herself to show him she fears him. Our "innocent Christian" school teacher cannot believe her brother has done the things he is being accused of.

When Oz returns Winslet to her home, after she gives up the information the family needs, Oz can't let her go, and Winslet can't either. And this is when we start to see the lengths Oz will go to, to protect and get close to her. He definitely protects her, and cares for her, especially when those seek to undermine her good character. Winslet is equally drawn to Oz, but can she forgive him, as he carries the guilt of what he has done.

These two together is just undeniably hot, and even though there are questionable behaviours with Oz, what was not to love....I love him. Thank you Abbi, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and makes me want to all the books in both series to catch up on all the other family members stories. Totally addictive. 4.5/5 stars.

My favorite part of this book is the title, it’s such an accurate depiction of Winslet’s feelings when she realizes she’s attracted to her abductor. Oz kidnaps her and imprisons her in a basement to scare her into giving the whereabouts of her brother who had stolen four million dollars from the family. So, of course, her feeling about acting on that attraction was “oh hell no”!

Growing up with her little brother Perry, protecting him from an alcoholic abusive mother who wielded all her hate on Perry, her first instinct is always to protect Perry. She didn’t believe Oz about Perry’s criminal acts until he escaped and abandoned her to her abductors. And even so, her love for him was such that she remained loving him and wanting to protect him.

This story deviates a little bit from the others in the series because there’s a very subtle humorous tint to their conversations and their ruminations. So, in spite for the gritty nature of the mafia aspect, there’s a lightness to the story. Winslet was delightful, such a loving person, quirky, a little rambling when she’s flustered, beautiful but she doesn’t realizes it so she’s not entitled. No wonder Oz fell so hard! She was incredibly attracted to his god-like gorgeousness, but intimidated by his darkness. Again, refer to the Oh Hell No title!

I loved how the author wrought their coming together, it was very realistic, fraught with humor, darkness, and tenderness. I loved Oz’s protectiveness and the usual jealous/possessive attitude of the males in this series, and I noticed some similarity with Thatcher’s stalking methods, and how Winzy gave Oz peace, just like Halo and Bane. I loved seeing Bane, the devoted husband, changing diapers!

Another wonderful addition to the series, another wonderful book to re-read and enjoy!

My first Abbi Glines book, but definitely not my last--read this one in a day!

Oh, Hell No is the third book in the Mississippi Smoke series, and although the extensive family trees at the beginning were a bit daunting, it actually worked pretty well as a standalone. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely adding books 1 and 2 to my TBR, but though I didn't know any of the series characters going in I (fortunately!) wasn't totally lost because of it.

Even though mafia heroes aren't normally my jam and Oz and Winselt's meet cute was anything but (or to be more specific, it was cute for about a page and a half and then it got hella problematic), somehow Ms Glines managed to make me root for these two to get together anyway. (And seriously, this dude was *made* of red flags at times and Winslet should have handed him his butt when she found out what he had done but she didn't--and I was still mostly OK with it. Who am I???)

The only real...complaint feels strong, so issue? I had with the story was the "big reveal" near the end--it felt a bit out of left field and really stretched credulity. I wasn't shocked by that character's "first"--honestly, I was surprised that neither of them had been suspected of it originally. It 100% occurred to me that one or both of them might have done it. But then that they kept going for years...? Seemed a bit much. But they're not even an MC here, so I'll get over it ;)

In the end, it saved me from wondering if that character would get a book--and I'm fine that they won't, because I wouldn't have wanted to have to root for them anyway. But Oz and Winslet? I'm in their fan club for sure.

Rating: 4 stars / B+

𝐎𝐡, 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐍𝐨 is the 3rd book in the Mississippi Smoke series by Abbi Glines, featuring an angsty mafia romance for Oz and Winslet. Winslet has always been her brother’s protector, but she never expected him to get into a mess that would get her kidnapped by the bookie for the Southern Mafia. They need to find her brother, who ripped them off to the tune of $4,000,000, but can the innocent-seeming school teacher help them, or is she just a distraction that Oz never imagined he couldn’t live without?

This story was a fun, twisted foray back into the Southern Mafia world with the microscope on Bane’s mysterious best friend this time! Oz turned out to be a yummy protective, obsessed hero with some stalkerish tendencies and definite “Touch Her and ☠️” vibes! Although Winslet was a strong woman, it was an interesting dichotomy to see her struggle with her attraction to the man she should despise. And yes, I know people will make comments about feminism and whatever, but I read these as fictional entertainment. Oz was over-the-top in his obsession and possessiveness… and their chemistry sure did sizzle the way it progressed on page!🔥 I also found myself shocked by a couple plot twists that I did 𝘯𝘰𝘵 see coming at all!! I loved seeing more glimpses of Bane, Halo, Saylor, and Jude, but the end felt a little sudden, and left me needing a little more again. I just long for an epilogue of the happiness, I guess. I can’t wait to see which one of these morally gray men fall next, though!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Oh Hell No is the third book in Abbi Glines’ Mississippi Smoke series.
Let me tell you, the minute you start this book, you won’t want to put it down. This is the story of Oz and Winslet.
Oz is a quiet but fierce young man. He is not one to back down when it comes to correcting a mistake he made when it comes to working for part of the Southern Mafia.
Unfortunately Winslet is caught in the middle of it when it comes to her brother’s poor choices. With a horrible upbringing and only having her brother to lean onto, she doesn’t believe the things Oz is accusing Perry of. How could she, with all that her and Perry have been through throughout their childhood?
Oz doesn’t think it won’t be difficult getting Perrys sister to tell her where he is, but once he meets Winslet all bets are off. Oz doesn’t understand why it’s bothering him so much when it comes to the ways he gets information out of Winslet.
When Winslet is finally let go, she can’t seem to get Oz off her mind. She goes back to her teaching job with the concern the church and school will let her go due to her brother’s poor choices. Even when on a date with another guy, she can’t stop thinking about him. It doesn’t help that Oz is there too.
Oz has become obsessed with everything that has to do with Winslet. He can’t let her go.
Will Winslet be able to forgive Oz and will Oz be able to show Winslet that he doesn’t want to hurt her and will do anything to be with her, even if it means helping keep Perry close by for Winslet to visit.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I am just going to go ahead and say that I devoured this book. I didn't lay it down until I was finished. This is the story of Oz and Winslet. Winslet and her brother Perry have never had an easy love. Their mother was horrible and she was constantly yelling and abusing these two. Winslet it one tough cookie because she always protected her brother. Now they are grown and Perry has gotten himself into some serious trouble. These two don't leave near each other and Winslet is a teacher at a local Christian School. While out shopping the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on needs to know where the paint is. However, when he approaches her in the parking lot, things take a turn. Oz is a member of the Mississippi Branch of the Southern Mafia and he is good at what he does. However, Perry has stolen a large sum of money and they only way they have to get to him is take his sister. Things certainly take a turn or Winslet. But for Oz, he has met a woman that he absolutely can't get out of his head. Oz is a man that could have any woman he wants and he certainly never has had a desire to be in a relationship. Like I said this book is so good. I loved the push and pull between these two. I loved that he cared about her well being even if her brother really messed him up in his business dealings. Winslet is sweet, and caring and a woman who is trying to do her job despite the drama in the school. This book has so many twists and turns. You are going to love it.

Someone had stolen from the family, and they were going to find them but they has to get information and the only person was his sister, so Oz took the sister to try to get some answers.
Winslet couldn’t believe that the god looking man from the store had taken her, she guessed he thought taking away food and water to get her to talk would help, but he didn’t know the life she’d lived.
Oz couldn’t believe this woman, everything that normally worked didn’t and it didn’t help that he didn’t want to actually hurt her. He knew nothing would come from it once she learnt the truth, she was there to get information about her brother, the brother that stole from his family.
Being returned home Winslet should have felt better, she wasn’t really harmed, but now she was left with thoughts about Oz, wondering about him, he didn’t really hurt her, he more cared for her. Having Oz the star of her nightly fantasies she knew she would never see him again, then she did.
Oz had tried to stay away, but he couldn’t he needed her safe, he needed to know she wasn’t upset, he needed to know everything about her.
Oz realises that he can’t stay away in the shadows anymore, and he knows that when she finds out what he’s done, what his family really does that she could run a mile. Oz knew that was a possibility but he would be there to catch her again.

This book was more of a slow burn than the first two books and follows Oz and Winslet. Oz is tasked with k!dnapping Winslet to help bring her brother out of hiding because he stole money from the family. I don’t know what it says about me that I would volunteer to be taken by Oz to Louisiana and held captive. You could tell he was a goner from the very beginning before he even took her. While he had to push her for information, it was so hard for him. He really had a good heart, but doesn’t always do good things. He was instantly protective of her and wanted to get her home. Winslet was so funny to me. Her internal thoughts were my favorite because she was conflicted about her feelings towards Oz. She found him so attractive but knew he had some questionable business dealings. She grew up rough but never let that harden her and I loved how she cared for her brother too. Oz is the ultimate obsessed man and finds way to keep tabs on Winslet without her knowing. He waits her out until he thinks she has had a chance to forgive him for taking her, but then all bets are off. He turns on the charm, he does things for her and well things get heated. These two had amazing chemistry and I just loved their dynamic. The found family of the Southern Mafia is so good - they give each other crap, stand up for each other and protect each other. The suspense and twist and turns at the end were so fun and I couldn’t put the book down. I love this series and I just keep thinking how can they get better!

Abbi Glines' writing continues to evolve and impress—I’ve been a fan since day one!

In this installment, we finally get to know Oz Savelle, a character shrouded in mystery until now. Oz finds himself in a tight spot after being tricked into laundering counterfeit money, and has to kidnap Winslet, the sister of the man who deceived him. Tasked with interrogating her to uncover family secrets, Oz is thrust into a dark mission of having to torture a woman.

Winslet proves to be resilient, her tough exterior shaped by a heartbreaking childhood. Her strength makes her a fascinating character, and her interactions with Oz are electric. Despite his criminal background, Oz displays a mix of sweetness and obsession, becoming almost unhinged in his devotion to Winslet after he has to let her go. His transformation from captor to protector is riveting.

Oz embodies the quintessential mafia anti-hero—dangerous yet willing to do anything for the woman he loves. The pain and betrayal Winslet endures, especially the shocking revelations about her brother, make for an emotional rollercoaster that left me reeling.

This series just keeps getting better with each book, and I sincerely hope it never ends!

This is book three in the Mississippi Smoke series and I am really enjoying the stories that link to this branch of the family. Oz and Winslet certainly don’t have a traditional love story and meet under circumstances which I would find a little difficult to forgive, but after Winslet's less than ideal upbringing she finds herself being torn between her loyalty to her brother and her conflicted feelings towards Oz. This book is definitely a slow burn which I really enjoyed and once again the fantastic and funny banter between the members of 'the family' is so well done even with a storyline that does tend to be a little dark at times. Each book in this interconnected series can be easily read and enjoyed as a standalone, although I highly recommend you start at the beginning of this mafia world so all of the characters and their stories link together fully for you. I felt this book was such a good story and has become a favourite, I was hooked from the first page but to be honest, I was a little sad when it ended quite suddenly, as I just wanted a little bit more especially after the huge twist that took place at the end. I highly recommend this series if you love your mafia reads with men that would do anything for the women they love!!!

Oh Hell No, by Abbi Glines is the third book in the Mississippi Smoke series. This is a forced proximity, contemporary mafia romance. In this book, Oz found out that he had made a big mistake. He had accepted bets made with exceptionally good counterfeit bills. In order to flush out the man responsible, he was assigned with the task of kidnapping Winslet, who was a second grade teacher. Oz was tasked with getting information from Winslet that would assist the Southern Boy Mafia in recouping their losses and then handing him over to the FBI. Unfortunately for Oz, Winslet was incredibly beautiful, sweet, and innocent, which turned out to be his kryptonite. After he returned her to her regular life, Oz couldn’t let her go. He turned into the same stalker/obsessive boyfriend that his peers had become upon meeting the women meant for them. But, would Winslet be able to forgive Oz for kidnapping her and tracking down her brother? I shake my head every time I read one of Abbi Gline’s mafia romances, since I enjoy them all despite the fact that I would consider men like Oz a huge red flag in the real world. In fiction, it is delicious to experience strong alpha men who are toppled by a woman like Winslet. On behalf of Winslet, it was a relief to see her gain the found family that Oz’s family and friends afforded her. I definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy dark, mafia romance with morally grey antiheroes.

I would like to thank Wordsmith Publicity for gifting this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
