About this ebook

A brand new, swoony small town firefighter series from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!

What could go wrong when my brother’s best friend becomes my roommate?

I’m about to find out.

When I met Hudson Fox, I drove over his crutches. Way to go, girl. My hormones think this hotshot firefighter is all that and then some.

My hormones have a terrible track record. They are cheering for Hudson, but my brain knows better. I’m a smart woman with plans and none of them involve romance.

Until I move into my new place and Hudson is my roommate. Complete with Butter, his cat.

Hudson isn’t just easy on the eyes, he’s everything I didn’t know I wanted, including a little grumpy with a protective streak bigger than Alaska. We both have our reasons for avoiding romance, but when he proposes a with benefits arrangement, I can’t even think over the sound of my hormones screaming for joy.

When my messy past catches up to me and I discover Hudson is my brother’s best friend, well, things get even messier. Hudson is keeping his own secrets. I tell myself it doesn’t matter. Until my heart wants more.

Hudson & Stella’s story is perfect for readers who love: protective firefighters, slow burn, roommates, brother’s best friend, messy secrets, chemistry on the rampage, small town shenanigans, emotional romance with a dash of angst, oodles of steam and swoon, and a cinnamon roll hero who will protect the woman he loves with everything he has.

*A full-length, standalone romance.

I really liked Stella and Hudson as characters, I enjoyed seeing them get together and breaking their rules right from the start. I felt for both of them as their childhoods and pasts were impacting on their adult lives, I wanted to hug them and tell them to be brave and trust in themselves. I liked the support they got from their friends and that they were able to reflect on things and reevaluate. Butter and Biscuit were so cute and added to the story, that duplex certain has something going for it. I am looking forward to reading more from this series and am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC.

They say the path of true love doesn't always run smooth...it certainly didn't for this couple. Each are scared and scarred of their upbringing. Emotional baggage has been dealt with differently, but they both carry enough to drag them down as the going gets little rough. There are good moments, a few iffy ones, and a few great ones. Their personalities and character drives them onwards, or reverses them back out. Hudson's friend, Parker, adds a further complication for this couple to deal with. Stella is the more contained of the two of them, but Hudson realises his mistake immediately and she has a forgiving nature. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hudson is a firefighter in Alaska. Stella is there, working as a paralegal and studying for her BAR exam. When they meet, it is not a positive meeting. They end up sharing a duplex where they share a kitchen. It is a story of how two people develop a relationship over time. But Stella is dealing with a mother who could not seem to find the right man and Hudson is afraid his teenage years in detention may affect a relationship, especially with a lawyer. A wonderful story!!
